A man walked out on the stage and behind a pedestal. He tapped the microphone and called "May I have your attention, please!" When he saw that most of the people were watching him, he cleared his throat. "I would like to welcome you to the Battle of the Bands World Tour! All of you have been called upon to be the competitors of the biggest band competition the world has ever seen!" he waved a pointed finger across the crowd.

Bob cheered as he said this. He still couldn't believe it. This was all too surreal. He had always dreamed of touring the world with a big band, and now he's about to sign up for it.
"You will all compete for the grand prize of two million dollars split among your band, your own record deal, and a mansion on Beacon Hill in Hollywood!"
Bob cheered again and did the math in his head. 2,000,000 divided by 8. 250,000 dollars a person in each band. He smiled.

Ildri walked in a little later than she had wanted to. "Late again..." she mumbled with a sour face as she made her way near the front of the stage. She had managed to come in just in time to hear about the prize for the winning band. Her light blue eyes darted around as she watched everyone cheer. She wasn't happy, she was thrilled. She had wanted this her whole life but somehow it wasn't showing right now.
Perhpas it was because it meant that now she would have to work for it. Push with what she had to get there. She could never head back to school. She was a dropout, and a proud one at that. She was expleeled for skipping school a certain amount of times. Although those days she was off singing downtown on the streets. Earning a little money. It wasn't until recently that she had gone into the formation of a band.
She scratched the back of her head, continuing to look around. It was so warm in this room and people didn't seem to mind it, not one bit. She did, although she was glad she had taken off her bright yellow scarf and black jacket before coming. Now she just had a purple, spegetti strap top, which showed her belly button, red-orange pants, black fingerless gloves and some black running shoes.
She had heard that singers in bands usually wore exaggerated outfits, making them stand out. She didn't care too much for this although when she performed she usually wore something that would make her stand out from the rest of the band, but not by too much.
She looked ahead to the announcer again, deciding to cheer with the rest of them, although it would sound somewhat fake. She didn't care right now though. All she cared about what getting to know her band members.

The announcer waited for the roaring to die down. He smiled slyly and said "But this is no ordinary band contest. Each band has their own van with hidden cameras rigged into each one of them. Not only will your playing affect the score of your band, but your actions and words to the other bands will, too. Here is how the point system works. The better attitude your band has, the better your score. The more rude remarks, gestures, or false or not meaningful compliments, the worse your score.
"A maximum of 10 points can be given per gig, and you cannot play the same song over and over again. A rude gesture or phrase deducts five points from your score, and good behavior gives you an added five points to your gig score.
"Those bands who run out of points will be disqualified. Highest scoring band gets the prize. Those who make it to the end but do not win will get free publicity via cable. You are all live on camera and will be for the next two months." He gestured to a few cameras in various places such as behind the crowd, on top of the stage, and in the corners of the roof.

Ildri had calmed down when everyone else had and listened carefully to what the announcer had to say. "More attitude the better?" She sighed, this was totally being seterotyped. Why did everyone think that bands had to have big egos. At least she agreed with one thing the announcer had to say, no replaying songs. That meant that she'd have to learn a whole bunch of new ones. Oh what joy she would have. At least she hoped they would be songs to her own generes, if not, the 'joy' would keep going up.
She watched as he pointed to the cameras and she looked at one, sticking her tounge out at it. She wasn't so happy about having each waking moment video taped. But who was anyways? At least it would mean some interesting tv for watchers out there.

Bob got pushed next to a girl that was questioning what the announcer had said. "I think he said the better atitude, the better." He looked at the guys that had pushed him, who were jumping up and down randomly. Weird he thought, raising an eyebrow at them.

Ildri was randomly pushed by some guy. She stood her ground and went to glare at him when she noticed that he was pushed too. With a sigh she responded quickly, "Well, there is that as well." She knew that most band members would prefer to choose who should be leader. Following that there would be yelling or it'd be quiet and everyone would talk it out. She had no idea though. For now she could just hope that her band members wouldn't act sterotypical.
