Background:
Jessica Vitale was born and raised into a middle-class family in a small town in upstate New York. Her father owned a general store; her mother worked in an office as a secretary. As an only child, she was expected to one day take over the family business. Their house was small, in the center of a quiet neighborhood, the sort where no one ever locks their doors. Inside, furniture was arranged neatly and simply; Mrs. Vitale seemed to always be cleaning or tidying something. Jessica's room was the messiest in the house, mostly due to the clutter and collections of various junk. Many things became lost soon after entering her room.

Jessica was curious and restless as a child, always wanting to go on "adventures", climb on top of things, and play in strange places. On her 13th birthday, Jessica slipped from the branch of a tree and fell to the ground. Her special ability was triggered in that moment, allowing her to float down, unharmed. After this discovery, she devoted as much time as possible to practicing her gift.

During high school, Jess gave serious thought to a career choice. She had already abandoned any plans of ever having a conventional job. The thought of sitting in an office or standing at a cash register for the rest of her life was enough to make her cringe. Unfortunately untalented at most things, Jess found herself at a loss for any jobs that would make her happy. The choice to go off to college was made to buy her some time until she had to "become an adult". Her family was disappointed, but understanding. They provided her with enough money to leave her small hometown, and she went off to seek out a life of excitement. In New York City she attended college for one year and lived off the money sent by her parents in a tiny apartment. That was where she first heard of Cirque du Coeur Torve and made her choice. She routinely sends postcards home.

Personality Traits:
- Friendly and usually able to get along with most people.
- Not often in a serious or pensive mood, even to the point of waving off hostility toward her and laughing at it.
- Playful and outgoing, unless something made her uncomfortable or the situation calls for a more somber mood, in which case she tries to get over whatever is bothering her.
- Wears her emotions out on her sleeves. When she's happy, she acts happy. When she's depressed, she acts depressed. Doesn't usually hide her feelings unless it's not safe to show them.
- Has a tendency to be mischievous, but is trustworthy enough to not cause serious trouble. She wouldn't hurt anyone with a prank.
- Her assertive nature tends to make her somewhat stubborn. She is also impatient and sometimes impulsive.
- As mentioned before, she loses things often. If an object isn't in plain sight or tied to a part of her body, she can easily forget where she put it.
- Hates being bored or sitting around when she could be doing something. For instance, reading quietly is okay for a few hours if it's interesting material, but she hates idling or waiting around with nothing to do.
- Work can be considered fun, as it's something to do and can be viewed as a game. She has average strength, so does not do extremely well with hard labor, but she is willing to try any task.
- When confronted with something sad or disturbing, Jessica becomes quiet and straight-faced. If it's someone else's problem, she would offer to help. She usually deals with her own problems by shrugging them off in favor of thinking about something happier, though she doesn't know the hurt she may be inflicting on herself by doing so.
- When angry, Jessica can become violent and may be provoked to fight, but usually resorts to yelling. She prefers to settle disputes with an argument, and realizes that sometimes they can be quite funny. She does not really hold grudges, but won't forget if someone wronged her for no reason.

Other:
- Jessica is slightly superstitious. She travels with some items that are lucky to her, and abstains from actions that she believes to be bad luck. Because her talent can become dangerous at the mere loss of concentration, she believes that luck has a big part in her life.
- A social smoker and drinker. Both of her parents smoked and drank as well. She doesn't have a preferred brand of cigarettes, but likes sweeter liquor as opposed to hard alcohol.
