We just finished a concert series this weekend in our symphony. We performed Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, Espana by Chabrier, Intro to Rondo and Cappricioso by Saint-Saens, and premiered an organ concerto written because our ruffatti organ was finally completed!
In Baroque Ensemble we're playing the Messiah (but not the conventional way -- we're doing it in actualy baroque style whee ), and in chamber orchestra we're playing a piece by Mendohlsen. Both concerts are in Dec. sometime.

well, I'm not playing violin in school orchestra anymore...I'm conducting. just conducted "On the Beautiful Blue Danube" the other day, and played oboe for someothers "Embraceable you" and "Barber of Seville"
I owuld like some suggestions of pieces to play for next semester biggrin it's a symphony orchestra, high level violinists, pretty good flutes, pretty good trumpets and french horn but a bit low on everything else.

We're playing Jalousie, something called View From Hubble, Remembrance, with a harp instead of piano, and some other pieces. I don't know when our concert is though. sweatdrop
My friends told me about Rosin Eating Zombies from Outer Space. I want to play it. But my teachers want us to play more 'dignified' stuff... despite the title, View From Hubble is actually difficult and stately. rolleyes

we played Rosin Eating Zombies from Outer Space, I originally planned to conduct that for one of the assignments...but it turned out to be quite boring on the conducting part. It's...different from the traditional, that's all I can say. We managed to get a guy in our class to do the solo screams sweatdrop

We played a symphony by him a while back, but we never learned the title. stressed It was kind of cool, but there was a section that was in 3/4 time, and went so fast that a dotted quarter note sounded like an eigth note. xp

Hey, that's ok. At least you're playing something recognizable, even if it's been arranged half to death. When I was in middle school, we made it into Midwest clinic playing a song called "Babe the Blue Ox Sleeps" stressed 'Course we beat out a bunch of high schools, and Midwest supposedly hates middle school orchestras. But still... Babe the Blue Ox Sleeps? Give me a break!
Great avi, by way. Quite Adorable.
