Miller Milano

Miller had left a message on Lauren's intercom, it had been a while now since Awen's and he figured it would have to be done sooner or latter the two of them talking. The message was simple and brief asking that she meet him out by the jungle edge before the beach around six ish in the evening.

Of course thanks to mix of nervousness and over all lack of enthusiasm for the whole situation caused Miller to stall and delay before finally growing the nerve to leave his duplex.

It would only be a few minutes walk from where he was on the path out to the tree line, nothing could go wrong right?

It was only by happenstance that Lauren wondered onto Miller, no intercom message had lead her there. She hadn't been to her duplex in months, prefering the hole in the ground to the overly electronisized and overfurnished duplex.

It was his smell that she caught first. She knew it smelled familiar, she could follow it to actually seeing the creature. He looked so familiar, she knew she could place him. She was ever so curious yet ever so timid at the same time. Who was this?

She lurked in the brush, skittering agily closer. Stopping, her tail wagged as she gave a 'tik tik tik' sound, like a cat trying to speak to a bird.

Maybe it was the bird inside him fearing for its safety from predators, or maybe it was the natural feeling of unease a person gets when being followed, but which ever it was Miller felt a cold shiver run down his spine sending his feathers in a ruffle.

He heard the strange tik tik tik sound, it sounded familure yet strange all the same, after all living on an island full of half animal people lead to hearing quite a few strange sounds now and then. "Lauren? Thatz you out there?" he whispered, unsure of what it might actually be.

Lauren flinched at the voice, she wasn't sure what to do, "Go WAY!" She said, not really wanting him to, "Who.... tik tik tik... be YOU?!" Her tail wagged again, in a rattle snake like way. She was severly confused. He smelled so good and it's been a while since Lauren had ate. She had quite a few bugs to hold her over, and a few eggs earlier but she was a rather LARGE creature and needed more sustanance than her newly found hunting skills could provide. It had been days since she landed something of decent size.

She emerged, on all fours slowly from the brush. Now in sight, Miller could see a huntress look in her eyes and could tell she had definately changed since he last saw her. Her hair was matted, in near dread locks and longer as well. Burs were stuck in her fur and mud was caked on her in some places. She didn't smell, because she was able to self clean by now, but she didn't look pleasant or tame either. She looked in all accounts feral.

And that was the gleam in her eyes. Feral with a tiny bit of humanity hideing from something.

Miller gave a quiet littler chirp as Lauren finally spoke, but mixed emotions came with those words, she wanted him to leave? But why? He slowly edged closer to the brush were Lauren was hidden tilting his head slightly. "Lauren it'z me Miller... remember?"

His wings stretched out and his eyes perked as she finally started to come out but that was all instantly washed away as he saw what Lauren was now. She reminded him faintly of Kikue in a way, she had that look in her eyes that Kikue had when she tried to eat him. The look of a wild animal.

"What happened..." he mumbled more to him self then to Lauren, whom he almost expected not to hear him at all or at least not understand.

Lauren lurched forward, sniffing the hand. It smelled so familiar and mixed emotions were brought to her head. In some ways, he smelled like food, but in others she smelled someone familiar. Someone she both longed to see and didn't want to see at all at the same time. This conflict confused her as she gave a warning n** and backed off. It wasn't a hard bite, but it probably hurt and more than likely bruised.

Her tail was flaired out like a bottle brush, "Go way..." She didn't know what to say to the question. What happened? It sounded so familiar. Only one thing came to mind, "MOREAU!" She spit out disgustidly. That's what happened.

His stomach ached horribly. He needed food so badly. Real food. He’d sustained himself on the left-behind kills of others, as disgusting as that was for him, eating like a scavenger. He felt ill for doing so. If not for the angry hunger pangs, he wouldn’t have been able to go through with the desperate act of survival. It hadn’t been enough though. It got him through the day, but it left him in a constant state of hunger and furthering his wild delirium.. and there was a wide-eyed expression in his eyes, much like a starving stray.

He was fighting the urge to return to his duplex. There were still some scraps of meat in his fridge, but that meant showing his face in public and eating their food that had been provided for them like a trough. Then he heard something moving. Talking from others. Speech was a pain in the a**. He sounded like a moron while attempting human speech through his half-formed canine muzzle. So he didn’t bother to announce himself verbally.

As well, walking with a limp caused by his sixth, ungrown leg made travel difficult and he was making too much noise if there was a predator nearby. He hunkered down and tried to crawl commando style. His black canine nose flared as two scents registered. One was definitely Lauren! But… who was with her..? He couldn’t remember who the other was… did he even know a name?

Jordan was wary to advance, but then… movement caught his attention. He lunged forward with the desperate need for food and nearby in the brush, both Miller and Lauren would hear a fierce attack growl followed by the squeeling of the rabbit as it’s neck was snapped. Standing there in sight of them both was Jordan, on all fours –or whatever was now applicable- with blood dribbling down the sides of his face. It was his first kill.

It looked like he hadn’t had a shower in… two weeks.. as his fur was dirty mess of tangles and his now-blonde hair had been hacked off mostly, leaving it short and wild, sticking out everywhere. Jordan smelled like wet dog. To more sensitive noses… it was worse.

Lauren had smelled another familiar scent, and that sent her to close again. The glimer of human brought out by that last revelation she had given Miller was now hidden again, as Lauren was puffed up even more. The growl sent her running, she ran a few feet away, to a nearby tree and hid behind, prepared to dig a hole if necessary, or run further if that was needed. She still stayed within eye, ear and smellshot however, just hidden very carefully.

She sniffed the air, now all that she could smell was wet dog and blood. The rabbit smelled good to her though, and her mouth watered. Still she stood her ground, too cautious to wonder up just yet. "Go WAY!" She yelled, "Leave food, go WAY!!!" Her voice was shrill, a near yelp cutting through the forest.

She was acting like a dog, was all he could think of as she sniffed at his hand, and a very unfriendly one for that matter as her teeth nipped at his hand causing him to stumble back from her with a startled chirp. "Lauren! What are you doingz! Stop this! Get up come on!"

Moreau, it was his fault, another friend going insane, perhapse more at lost then Kikue had been. It angered him and scared him.

But as if Lauren's feral actions wernt enough there was another one. And this one was more disturbing then Lauren, the first thing that Miller noticed was the blood, and all at once alarms rang out in his head demanding he find a tree and get the hell out of there, but he stopped realizing it was Jordan. They met once at a small guys only truth or dare, but he looked FAR better then... and even smelled slightly better too.

His eyes went wide as Lauren's most recent words slipped out, was she referring to him when she shouted food? "Th-this iz madness..."

He wasn’t sure what was going on; however, there was no way in hell that he was giving up food. Not even to a friend. Not now, at least. It was only luck that he’d struck just right with that bulky body of his and scored the easy kill of a particularly fat, slower rabbit. It dangled so plump and juicy from his fangs as they bared, muzzle lips pulling back to threateningly protect his meal. His many limbs braced the ground as he struck a pose that would allow him to hobble off if he had to. He wasn’t looking for a fight, but if they wanted one… he’d protect his meal like a rabid junkyard dog.

Two against one. Great. But it seemed that they were hiding. Good. He eyed them back and forth, in case one were crazy enough to do anything.

Lauren slinked up a bit towards Jordan, carefully like a cat. She wasn't going to try to steal the food, but she did hope he would share. Her stomach was guiding her more than her instinct right now. Her eyes were hesitant to leave the dog in front of her, but she dared a quick glimpse to Miller in the tree.

She stopped a safe distance, then layed flat on the ground, staring intently at Jordan and the food. "Friend... hungry?" She managed to say. "********' hungry." She spat out more quietly.

Miller pulled him self higher clawing his feet up the tree with his clawed toes. He held tight keeping himself secure as he watched the two feral like creatures approach each other. Jordan scared him more to be honest, perhaps it was the blood, or the way he kept looking at him and Lauren like he was ready to rip out their throat.

Finally he pulled him self all the way up into the tree getting himself on balance again, unlike Jordan Lauren didn't scare him as much, but her actions hit him on another level as he realized he had one less friend on the god forsaken island. "I'm sorry Laurenz..." he mumbled, and with that he turned about moving branch to branch quickly as he could muster to get away from the two and find somewhere, any where to find peace and sanity.

The fleeing budgy was of no consequence. One less scavenger after his meal! Jordan’s eyes kept glancing between Miller and the mongoose until he was assured the former was out of range.

Blood stained the ground as it continued to dribble down his face. He huffed loudly, aggressively through his nose. The rabbit was big enough to share, but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to.

Was she really a friend? She had been there for him... especially after Thom sunk his fangs deep into his shoulders. He’d been too gullible and trusting in the past about who was a friend. Would she just wind up betraying him as Awen had turned her back to him? That thought caused him to growl more fiercely, but the pleading of hunger… made his own stomach churn with need. He could part with some of his rabbit and still not be too hungry. The snarl faded into a whimper. This was Lauren now. Lauren was a good person, right? That was the bastion of humanity compelling him to share with another human in need… even if she didn’t resemble it any longer.

He dropped the rabbit to the ground. Her act of submission, in his mind, came as a victory. It felt good to be the dominant one. Yes, it did. He held the plump carcass to the ground and sunk his fangs into the rabbit’s hindleg, tearing off a good quarter of flesh in the process. Jordan gave a soft ‘whurf’ that it was okay for her to approach and he dragged his larger share off a few feet and dug into the flesh ravenously.
