Dusk had finally caressed its dark shadows across the lands, the forests had given way to the nocturnal life as many soquili have gone to rest for the eve. Unlike many he knew, Twilight knew for many areas of nature that the night was the best way to travel...especially in the cool desert nights. Since his time back, however, he'd been more accustomed to waking up in mid afternoon and staying up halfway through the night. It was a pleasant cycle, always catching the sunset and the plumpening moon in the night sky.
Tossing his head back as he galloped freely across the open meadow, the long shutes of grass whipping against his shins yet his mind was already set on the spot he wanted to go. It was a small ledge overlooking the sea, one of the best spots around to gaze out at a pristine scene of sparking water and glittering stars. He could already smell the sea breeze wafting through his ivory with turquois tipped locks flow behind him like a banner, his ebony body blending quite well against the backdrop of black forest.
Oh how excited he was to get there.
Not to mention he had quite a bit to dwell upon tonight, the news of his sister's pregnancy and new mate still prodding to find acceptance in his mind. At least his father had accepted him fully back into his life since he ran away to quell his traveling spirit. Although that urge still lay in his heart and soul...how could he ever settle down and reside to a single place when the world was constantly changing...sights which he saw a while ago could be something completely different now!
Who would give that up to stay at a teepee and raise foals?
If only there could be the best of both worlds, perhaps then Twilight would give fatherhood a chance. Yet untill that day came, he was a nomad....warrior and sworn protector for the innocent!

The wet sand sucked at her hooves as she ran, the cold sea spray whipping around her and filling her nostrils. Auriga tossed her head up skyward as she galloped along the beach, just in the shallows of the cold sea. She slowed to a trot and headed in deeper, up to her stomach. The cold water made her shiver, she she loved it. Auriga paddled around for a while before heading back up onto the sand, shaking her hooves dry, the bracelets on her legs chinking together gently.
Looking up at the moon, she took a deep breath of the sea air. It was a beautiful night, and the stars were out in force, matching the pattern across her back. She smiled widely. How could other Soquili sleep when the night was so breathtaking?

Breaking through the bushes as Twilight's hooves sunk into the sand from the momentum and impact, he reared up and let out a powerful whinny as if he was some kind of hawk. With a grin on his curled lips, his body came back in full contact with the sand before he kicked off and galloped along the midnight shoreline.
Faster...Faster...
He thought, as the sounds of his hoves pounding on the beach reached back to his ears like a rush. Just a bit faster, just a bit harder...he always was striving to do a little bit better than before, a little more progress. His father had thought him a free spirit, his unspoken words couldn't had been more true of his son. A hard pant began from his mouth as the puffs of air swirled past him on the cool atmosphere of the night, his blue sky orbs focused ahead.
That was when he saw something...or someone.
Tilting his head to the side slightly, he almost missed the figure completely if it wasn't for the whisps of white in her hair sticking out from the ebony and navy backdrop the night held - or perhaps it was how the moon hit her hair? Either way, he pushed forwards; always just a little bit more as his muscles rippled and burned slightly under his pitch black pelt. Closer and closer, untill he skidded to a hault a few feet away, glancing over to the striking mare.
"Hello..." Twilight spoke calmly, despite his faint lack of breath. "Isn't....it a bit late to be out?" He wasn't aware of anyone else around these parts out at night - or at least those he didn't see. Positive there were night dwelling Soquili, he was just a bit shocked to see a mare all by herself out and alone.

Auriga's head swung round as the unmistakable sound of galloping hooves reached her. All she saw was a silver mane billowing towards her as a stallion as darkly coloured as she was came to a halt just in front of her. Auriga smiled.
"Hello to you, stallion.... And I could say the same to you, could I not?" She cocked her head slightly as she looked at the stallion. His colours matches hers although his mane looked as though it had been dipped in the ocean. He eyes were darker than hers though, a deep blue.
Auriga always had a soft spot for blue eyes.

Blinking lightly, a warm chuckle escaped his lips as he tossed his head back to get his long whisps of hair out from his eyes. It had always been a bit of a bother thanks to the sheer length, yet when he was running across the countryside the wind did a great job keeping him from tripping over it.
"True enough, I suppose I let my surprise get the better of me. I on the otherhand, was on my....am," He corrected himself, cocking his head to the side slightly. "heading to one of my favorite night spots." Oh yes....it didn't seem like it was too far from here. Glancing down the beach he took note of the rising cliffsides, the trail had to be just a bit further.
Raising his brow slightly, Twilight looked curious. "So...what are you doing? Swimming?" He inquired, thanks to the moon's reflection on the ocean behind her he could notice the drops of water dripping from her mane and tail...which were quite long like his own. In fact....she looked quite a bit like him with different shades of blue and markings. Strange indeed.

Auriga chuckled also. "Is is nea here? You're favourite spot...?"
"And not so much swimming, as cooling down from a gallop. I sweat, steam must have risen of off me my muscles ached so much!" She laughed warmly. She looked over the ocean, the moon skipping across the waves. "Besides, I have an almost unhealthy love for water, and the night sky. Put together, and I'm like a foal at Christmas!" She looked back at him, her silver eyes sparkling playfully and her smile still present.
"How ignorant of me! I haven't even introduced myself... My name is Auriga..."

"Kind of...." Twilight thought for a moment, gingerly tilting his head. "It should be just down the beach...a path leading up to the cliffside. When I traveled here a while ago, it was one of the first places I found. I've been meaning to come back and tonight is as good as any!" Laughing merrily, he too found himself staring out to sea with a soft sigh...it really was breath taking.
"Water huh? I always enjoyed a good swim once and a while...probably not as much as you though." Grinning, he blinked and realized that he too had been quite rude without even a thought of an introduction. "That makes two of us! Its a pleasure to meet you, Auriga. My name is Twilight.." It seemed his lucky streak of meeting such nice soquili was still on a roll!

Auriga smiled as she listened to him talk passionately about this place that brought such a smile to his face. It was like her favourite meadow, she felt safe there, and free. although her constant travelling meant she rarely got to visit it...
"Yeah, water... no idea, I've just always been that way! Maybe I was meant to be a Kelpi...!" Auriga laughed with a wide smile. "Twilight, eh...? How suited we are, with names of stars and night..." She chuckled slightly, hoping he would take that in good humor. Not many soquili seemed to know how to take her these days, especially since she seemed to end up flirting without even meaning to!
"So, Twilight... would you object terribly to me joining you on your stroll? The night is better enjoyed with good company...."

"A kelpie? Perhaps. Or maybe the gods decided to allow some of us land dwellers the priviledge to be able to appreciate the water so much more since we ourselves cannot dwell in its wake." Twilight smiled, he'd never met a Kelpie before, so he couldn't say for sure. Yet everyone had something there were especially partial to, for himself it had been his spot, as well as the feeling he recieved when helping others.
Blushing slightly, he nodded in thanks. It wasn't everyday he recieved compliments on his name, and took it graciously. "We're quite a pair indeed, it seems. Star crossed Soquili it seems, although you seemed to have the luck with catching them." He noted, motioning to the stars which graced her own dark pelt.
Maybe it with his slight naive luck, yet he took what Auriga in good spirits....he liked the mare, and they seemed to have a lot in common. The stallion could only hope that maybe they'd become good friends, he could always use the company when stargazing!
"I would be more than happy for the company, a spot to share with a fellow enthusiast gives me no greater pleasure." He chuckled, and nudged her shoulder softly as he took a few steps forewards towards where he'd been heading in the first place. "C'mon, lets go, its not too far at all."
