The Pokemon in question!

Adze the Bayleef

Name: Adze
Age (approximate): Older Teen/Young Twenties
Gender: Male
Pokemon: Bayleef

Starting Stage (Pokemon or human): Pokemon

Physical Description if Starting Human: N/A
Some Physical Trait Suggestions: As a humanoid, he should be taller as he becomes bipedal, thin and lanky- a long neck, triangular or heart shaped face with round red eyes, golden skin, and green nails. Preferably he'll grow in either green hair or an additional amount of smaller leaves to cover his head. I'm guilty of liking things to be pretty, so at the least his face should become very human like.

Personality: He's a lover, not a fighter! Adze tends to take after the young woman who raised him; he's quiet, sweet, and terrible at speaking up. He does tend to have his own opinions, formed slowly and methodically, but he'll rarely express them. He's very loyal to friends, and very, very slow to warm up to people. He has a sense of humor, but he usually needs to be comfortable around people before revealing it. He absolutely adores his owner. He's a bit smarter than you'd think, and has had plenty of years tagging along with his owner to absorb higher learning in bits and pieces. He'd much rather run than get beat up, if he's not protecting his owner, but his curiousity can sometimes get the better of him. In other words, he's a classic wimpy geek.

History: Rather than being a wild Pokemon, Adze has been raised since he was an egg by one very quiet and scholastic botany student, who recieved him in her undergraduate sophomore year as a gift from a professor who breeds and studies grass pokemon. She since went on to become a ecology and botany major, and trained him as a Chikorita in her undergraduate years as a hobby. As a result of this sporadic training, he evolved before she graduated into a Bayleef. Neither pokemon nor trainer was particularly dedicated or determined a fighter, so Adze only did well in practice matches against old friends. Against a serious contender, both of them quailed.
Since she graduated, they both stopped training with any regularity as she started graduate school. Swamped by masters, then PHD studies, she's kept Adze around as a dearly beloved pet and partner, but she has been too busy to spend as much time on him as she used to. Adze adores her far too much to blame her for being swept up by her scholarly passions, and does his best to be nearby and out of the way.
He was lured out and captured in a pokeball one day while his partner was thoroughly distracted in the lab, leaving him wandering the halls outside. Since CRONUS doesn't have many grass pokemon, perhaps they decided to branch out. . . or they had an interest in capturing one with an egg move. . . or they're curious to make Adze speak up about what he knows of his trainer's research. Any or all of these might be reason why he was put on the list to be neatly snagged and sent to the island, signed, sealed, delivered in a pokeball.

Strengths: Since he was specially bred from the egg, he has one egg move innate- Ingrain. However, when it comes to fighting, that's not his strong point. What he is good at, however, is being a quiet intellectual and sometimes defusing fights at his own expense. He's a kind and gentle soul, for the most part, and it's hard not to like him (unless you think he's a wuss!). He makes a very good friend, once you get him to open up in the first place.

Weaknesses: He's not particularly strong, only perhaps mastered moves through Synthesis at best. He's not very strong willed in the fighting ring, but can be coaxed into being passionately opinionated in debates. Since he forms his opinions so slowly, once he has it set, it's /very/ difficult to make him change his mind. If a situation arises where he does have to change his mind, he can have a crisis of confidence and not be sure which way to go. He has a very low self-esteem, a terrible inability to communicate, and can be very hesitant to face the world in general. He's not quick to recover from being knocked down, in any sense.

Future Plans for Character or Any Extra Info:
Adze is probably worried sick about his human partner, and very withdrawn in general when he first arrives at the facility. A good way to draw him out might be to bring him to a library, or to listen to music. . . he has a penchant for liking an eccentric variety of music, and classical in particular. Given the circumstances, he's more likely to gravitate towards the humans there than the other pokemon, even if they can't understand him. (Since he has such trouble speaking to strangers anyways, this might actually be ideal for him.)
He isn't going to be overly concerned about becoming more human-like, but he will be worried about the others and what CRONUS wants with them all. He does worry about what his owner would think, and if she'd accept him back or even recognize him. . .
If Adze runs into Azriel, he might be upset if he remembers how he got there in the first place. He isn't the sort to attack straight out, but he might confront him on their own and ask why. Even if Azriel gives a straight up answer, he might want to stick around Azriel to decide if he believes him, since he doesn't like forming opinions quickly, even if he really dislikes someone. There is also the point that Azriel might be the only one that he recognizes from before. . . even if he's the last thing Adze saw before ending up on the island.

((Teigra: Halfway through and you already had me hooked. In fact, if Agent agrees, I'd love to see you two RP the first part of his intro together, the capture at least, with Adze and Azriel. I can't wait to see this guy on the island with us...good luck with your quest! ^__^

EDIT: Congratulations! Thanks to Sunny (AKA sailornorthstar) and her unbelievable generosity, I'm pleased to welcome Adze to the island. ^__^))

Japanese name: Bayleaf

Type: Grass

Weight: 35.0 pounds

Origin of name:
Bayleef is a direct reference to the savory spice Bay Leaf, a member of the laurel family, which is often used in european soups and stews.

Description: "BAYLEEF's neck is ringed by curled-up leaves. Inside each tubular leaf is a small shoot of a tree. The fragrance of this shoot makes people peppy."

Biological characteristics: "Bayleef looks like a cartoonish sauropod. It has a pale yellow body supported by four legs and a rather long neck and tail. On top of its head is a single large leaf and around its neck are seven oval-shaped, flower buds.

Bayleef's most defining trait is the "necklace" of seven tubular leaves that is located around its neck. Each of these curled up leaves contains inside it a tree shoot. From these leaves wafts a spicy scent that has stimulating properties to those who smell it. It can cheer people up, restore their health, make them more energetic and even heighten their drive for competition."
