Now was the perfect time. New spring brought new life and new life was growing strong. Very strong infact.
The firey Kalona had been watching the herd of deer that inhabited his territory. A fierce gaze on the younger and un-experianced. His eyes burned with fire as did the hunger in his belly. Almost an isatiable hunger it seemed to be. It always nagged at him. Taunted him with thoughts of flesh tearing between his cruel jaws.
He couldn't stand it anymore. Having left his mountainous home. Valarauco had made his way down the mountain side. Flying would give off his presance too easily to these stupid deer. Though he could just pluck one off the ground from out of the sky, he prefered the thrill of the hunt. Running down his prey and ripping it's throat out. Besides, flying took too much effort to do and flying with a writhing deer was hazardous sometimes.
Slithering his way around trees as quietly trampling around thick underbrush. The stallion had gotten himself into a close down wind position. These food items would have no idea what hit them.
Ever so closely ones would wander closer to his hiding spot. But not close enough. Just a little closer and he would spring into action. Leaping onto the unsuspecting dear and breaking it's back. Perhaps he would play with it for a while and just break it's back legs. Watch it try and crawl away. This thought brought a sadistic grin, revealing all the rows of sharp teeth that lined his mouth.
Just a little closer.

Loveless spotted the other Kalona easily, and started to catch on to his planned hunt. What he was doing was smart, and she hoped he could succeed in his plans. Luckily for her, she had eaten just a bit earlier, so watching was more of a thrill. It would be unwise for her to disturb another who had planned out a meal anyways, so she perched herself on a nearby cliff to await whatever scene would unfold.
It was nice to fly, and since her wings had grown, she was able to go wherever she wished, whenever she wished. Her dark body stayed put in its position, and her eyes stayed peered on the quickly moving Kalona. He had such incredible colors and markings, she wondered if she had seen him before. It was highly unlikely, though. Her father had tried to hide her from so much, that she was able to do what she wished now that she was grown.
With a slight snort, she brought her wings close to her side and put her gaze on the deer. They were such stupid creatures, she certainly hoped the other Kalona wouldn't fail.

Eyes burned deep holes into one deer that had come close enough for him to almost touch with an outstretched hoof.
He kept still. Tail snaking back and forth behind him as he lowered his body, ready to pounce. Like some great cat ready to spring. As the deer turned it's back to him to graze, he lept from his hiding spot. Front hooves crashing down upon the hips of the deer and bringing it down to the ground.
Amongst the chaos, the rest of the deer fled. Leaving their fallen companion behind. It's screams of terror falling upon death ears. Valarauco had broken it's back legs and snapped it's spine. But left enough intact for it to crawl around, just not fast enough to get away.
Taking a step back, he watched the pitiful creature cried and struggled to stand. A long, dark tongue flicked out from between his teeth, almost snake like, and ran along those long jaws. "And just where do you think you're going?" He said in an almost teasing jesture. Circling around it quickly to get behind, he wrapped his jaws around it's slender neck. A quick jerk of his head and he had snapped it's neck. Bones stuck out from the pelt in odd angles. Another quick jerk and he had ripped the head off completly. There really was no use for it. The meat was all in the body.
His stomach burned with more ferocity. And the stallion new that the scent of blood would bring scavangers soon. Leaning his head down, he made quick work of the carcase. Ripping and tearing the flesh large mouthfuls. It was an awful sight. Perhaps he would leave some of the body here for some unsuspecting Unicorn to come across. Bah. Stupid Unicorns. Lets see one of them try and heal this deer!

With a light giggle, she was pleased to see that the male had succeeded. And with that, she stood herself up and flung into the skies, only to land a comfortable distance from him on the ground. To be sure, she grinned at him and said. "Do not worry, I am not hear to take your meal. I only observed the nice show from above." With alluring eyes, she swung her tail around her and got a better view of the male.
The meal looked content, the dear was hefty enough in its portion, so the Kalona would not walk away hungry. It was always a pity when one was stuck with a meatless animal, but this dear proved to sustain its fill.
She wanted to venture out and meet more Kalonas, so it was no suprise that she approached him so bluntly. She wasn't fond of males, but that was only because the few she had met were just awful in their discussions. She couldn't judge everyone, though, so she kept her guard up though smiled at the Kalona.
"I hope you are enjoying your meal, I hate to see another go hungry." The words almost purred as they came out, and she was trying to practice this whole alluring thing that the Kalona Succubus had taught her.

By the time the mare had landed, Valarauco had finished of two-thirds of the deer. His veracious hunger nearly quelled from all the meat he had consumed. And now that his belly was full, he felt in a bit of a better mood.
As she landed, his firey eyes snapped open as he had been content in his feasting. The spaded end of his tail flicked back and forth as he lifted his head with a sudden jerk. But it seemed, as she spoke, that she wasn't there to steel it from him. Good. Even if she was she'd probably leave with nothing more than a broken leg.
"A show? I didn't realize I had an audience." He raised a curious eyebrow as that dark tongue flicked out to clean off the blood that dripped heavily from his muzzle.
The next few words she spoke were almost like silk. Though it had no true effect on the stallion. He was a hermit of the sorts and confrontation with others was not his strong point. "You would hate to see anyone go hungry? Or just Kalona." His eyes wandered over the female for a second as he sized her up. "You're not one of those.....unicorn lovers who preaches about equality and living in peace are you?" Valar's eyes narrowed into small slits, his tail had stopped moving by this point.

She giggled, but brought her eyes back on him. "I didn't think you would mind, I was only perching up there." She lifted her nose to show the handy cliff that arrose above them. "I love watching a good kill, so I decided to stay and be amused." She moved her head slightly to get some bangs out of her face, and tried to capture every little detail on him. Such magnificient colors, he truly looked gruesome in every aspect.
"Kalona." She answered, continuing to watch him closely. She enjoyed his comment on others and unicorns, and only widened her smile as he finished speaking. "I assure you, I'm not. If anything, I would rather eat one then listen to it talk." Her smile widened, only showing her grinning jaw. "It appears you feel the same way, yes?"
"I find no problem having peace between my fellow Kalonas, but I will never find the same equality that some of the others idiots feel." Such worthless fools, she was sick of dealing with them lately. It was hard of course, having a father who did such. His ways were a mystery to her, and it didn't help that her mother was emotionless on the subject.
"I am Loveless," she said, coming back into the conversation. She had to catch herself out of a daze before she could regain her words. "And your name is?"

Valarauco didn't look at the cliff she had motioned towards. He knew the mountains around this area like the back of his wings. "Not at all. Though I've never had anyone watch me before." His head lifted more as he straightened out to his full height. Which towered over most that weren't Kalona, even over some of the females and a few males.
His tail snapped a few times as her responce. Good, he wouldn't have to kill her then. "Ah, a girl after my own heart." The corners of his mouth curled up into a wicked smirk, letting those sharp, blood stained teeth flash for a moment. "I would eat it before it even had a chance to speak one word. They're disgustingly pure creatures. Though purity and innocence does taste sweet." Valarauco hadn't taken down a unicorn in a long time. Perhaps next time he would hunt one down.
"I rather stay out of the affairs of others. Even if there is some equality there's always troubles amongst the masses in which I'd rather not take part of." His eyes grew dark upon the topic. Perhaps he was just a bit too much of a hermit. But he enjoyed his life. Being bothered by others with their stupid squabbles was not something he liked enduring.
Stretching out his wings, he craned his neck a bit before relaxing and letting his wings fold tightly against his back. "Loveless." He let the name roll of his tongue before he gave a quick smirk. "Valarauco is what I am called. Though I have other names as well."

Loveless may have been full grown now, but her mind was still young and learning. She had only met a few unicorns from wandering around with her father, and she remembered being disgusted by them completely. "I have never had the pleasure of tasting purity and innocence, I will have to do that when I can." She still had time, she had only just grown up, but it was hard for her to get used to the changes around her.
She listened to him carefully as he spoke, learning more about him by the second. She wanted to broaden the Kalonas she knew, so she made sure to remember bits and pieces from each's personality. "I know what you mean, I hate getting exhausted by other's problems." She had spent so much time alone, that it was starting to get soothing for her tastes. "But what about other Kalonas?" She wasn't sure of his specifics in his answer. "The many I have run into have been quite impressive, its nice finding others with the same passion." She drew her smile back once again.
Valarauco. Another name she would have to remember, though she only grinned more when he spoke about his many names. "Other names, now? I don't believe I have that, what other names do you have then?" Always so curious, she tilted her head and wondered what he meant.

"I'm sure you would enjoy it." Valarauco himself had taken down quite a few unsuspecting Unicorns in his life. Though he made it a habit to not take out too many, or they would start to grow suspicious of him. And he really didn't need a procession of those disgusting things marching up to his home. If they could find it.
An eyebrow raised curiously as she question his response. "I've met very few Kalona in my time in these lands. And each seems to have some sort of quip with someone else. Though there are some that are worthy of respect and perhaps admiration. I just don't see the point in getting mixed into any of their affairs. Some want more power over the other breeds, some want to destroy them. And some are so shameful of our own race that they deserve whatever is coming to them. But I digress. It's merely my own opinion which not everyone shares I'm sure." The tip of his tail had started moving back and forth. Politics or whatever you wanted to call this topic was something he rarely talked about. But he had his own opinions and observations to go by either way.
The stallion gave a breathy laugh as she asked about his other names. "Balrog, Malaroko, Nalkarauke, Dagorath, Balroeg, Lungorthin, Gothmog, Maiar, Khazad-dûm....just to name a few. They are names from older days really. I prefer my current name though as it seems to serve it's purpose better than the others."

She was also sure she would enjoy it, and her mouth almost watered at the thought. She knew she was strong, and also vicious when she wanted to be, but she had never considered challenging herself that much. It would be unwise to just run in and try to snag one, so she needed to be smart in the process and plan correctly.
She listened carefully as he discussed his opinion, and it was extremely valid in her own thoughts. "Maybe I have been lucky so far.. the only one that I find shameful is my own mother." Annd, maybe her father too.. but that subject was too hard for her to ponder. "I guess I haven't dwelled enough with other Kalonas to see some of the affairs they go through, so I have been lucky." With a slight nod, she was almost answering questions for herself as she spoke. "I am sure as I get older I will see the many types of Kalonas that this land has." She grinned at him though was still weary in thought, wondering what other shameful beasts walked this land. "But I don't want to give up completely, since I already like quite a few of them." She nodded one last time before looking at him again.
And then, with his names! There were so many, he wasn't kidding! "Wow, that is.. crazy." With a childish smile, she only played with a few of the syllables in her head. "Though it must have been hard to pick one to stick with, Valarauco fits well to me too." She nodded, as if pointing out that her opinion always mattered.

"Perhaps those that you've met have tried to keep you from those who could be considered less worthy of one's time. So that you would not have to embark on such endeavours as to dealing with them. Kalona can be very protective of their own kind, especially when one is young and easily molded to fit one's desires. We are proud, as you know, and sometimes meticulous in our ways. Very dastardly. Younger ones are no exception. From birth most are taught of their veracious futures and taught lessors are not worth two shits." His ear twitched a few times as a small breeze whipped up his fiery mane. "But then there are those who are taught by ones who have no business teaching the young how they should be. And those grow up to be lovers of lessors."
The stallion gave a booming, hearty chuckle this time instead of his breathy laughter. Another smirk stretching out his lips. "They are names others have given me throughout my time here in this world. Choosing one name is never an easy task. Or making a name for one's self either. I'm sure after some time has passed it'll change. But for now, I'll just revel in my current one."

He was right on target, and she only looked at him, with a sad glimpse in her eye as he finished speaking. "If I had not ventured on my own to meet other, true Kalonas, I would have ended up as worthless as some others." She sighed, feeling almost ashamed at the thought. "At first, Kalonas were violent towards me, since they did not know where I cam from, or what my plight was. But, when I explained that I needed help, and needed to be taught, they changed their ways completely, and took me in for lesson." She brought her eyes back slowly, and to this day she always wondered if it was the correct decision. "I have been told that I am wise for doing that, but in a way I think I have betrayed my family. What is family though, when they are pathetic and weak altogether?" Her face was molded into a cringe, and her last words were hissed out.
She did feel bad for ranting, but the subject seemed to have brought itself up. "Do you have any family, Valar?" She looked at him calmly, after taking a moment or too to get the rage out. She wondered what his lifestyle was like in that regard.
"Maybe I was lucky then, for being given a name." She brought her small grin back on her face, and she chuckled at bit as he spoke. "Though, it is never fun being named after a mother you despise, but I'd rather be born as something better then her anyways." With a slight snort, she shook her head and wisped her braid around her side.

He listened carefully to her small tangent. It seemed she had been through quite a lot when she was younger, to which he could...somewhat sympathize. Giving a nod of his head, his face was emotionless as he spoke. "Others can be quite wary of strangers. Even their own kind until they learn what purpose one might have and what hidden agendas the other has." His tail snaked behind him slowly as he thought. All this talking, it was refreshing and yet awkward all at the same time. "Taking the step to try and prove yourself and learn from those who have things worth teaching you shows to others that you wish to be apart of the goings on. To...make the world as it should be." Valar locked his eyes with her. His eyes serious and deep as she spoke of betraying her family. "Many times you have to betray to do what you feel is right. Even so, family is just a term for being blood related. Most Kalona have that sense of 'family' between even those who are not related by blood."
A quick shake of his head sent his mane furling about. "No. I have no family to call my own. My parents are long since dead. I have never had a lover or any children. My life is spent mostly in the mountains where few roam or even know I exist. A hermit of sorts."
"A name is just something used to distinguish you from the masses. If no one had a name we'd all run around calling out 'hey yous'." His eyes closed for a moment as he let a smirk burn deep into his features. "You might not like your mother. But it is in fact true that all children will best their predecessors if they strive to make the effort."

Valar was vey wise, and Loveless was almost drunk in his knowledge. She felt sort of silly for explaining so much, but it didn't seem to bother him, which made her feel better. It was nice to hear all of his imput, she craved any other knowledge. "I have noticed this sense of family that you speak of, and I find it more enjoyable then my own 'blood'." She giggled, knowing how true it was. "Though, I must thank you for your imput, it was something that always bothered me, but your grasp on it is much better then I could have imagined." With a slight nod, she thanked him as best as she could. She wasn't an expert on emotions so, it was weird for her to get 'sentimental'.
"A hermit?" She tilted her head, but understood the term quite well. Her mother was like that, until she met her father. "Do you enjoy that kind of life? I think it is safe to say that most Kalonas are hermits for awhile, but there are perks in venturing out." She nodded, wondering what kind of life the Kalona led.
Once again she grinned at his comment, and hoped to make this effort that he spoke of. "I guess if people went around calling me 'hey yous' I would get pretty pissed off." Her grin widened and she cackled to herself playfully.

"Most do." He replied with a nod of his own. "Some are forced into it, some grow into it. Either way, if you are accepted by the masses you are family. So to speak." Valarauco had much knowledge to share, but rarely did he ever do so. The majority of it was from mere observation over the years. So much could be learned from just watching and listening.
The stallion nodded his head once more. "It has it's moments of enjoyability. And I am not completely shut off from the world as some would think. But I am no where near 'herd' material nor do I prefer to wander in groups like some others. It is true that most Kalona tend to be hermits until a certain time in their life. But that is only because eventually they find some common ground with another and stick close to one another. Bringing back that family like bond. I, myself, have not found such a thing. But then I don't go seeking it either."
As she cackled, he gave a low and deep rumbling laugh. "I'm pretty sure most wouldn't like being called 'hey yous' either. And someone would end up with a swift hoof to the face for such informalities."
