Within a small field in the middle of probably no where, and possibly somewhere, stood a large dark horse, with a mane almost white as snow, speckled with blues and took to the wind as easily as a bird would, his dark eyes scanning the area.
Nope. Not here.
Turning his body around once more, Resplendence, as he was called, lifted his head to the sky, hoping that the stallion that he was at this time heavily searching for would somehow be behind the clouds. No one ever said he was an intelligent Stallion. Shaking his head once, mane flying this way and that, he took off on a canter towards the edge of the field once more from whence he came out to, hoping that where ever his hooves took him, he'd find one of his companions - he wasn't keen on sticking by himself. He wasn't a smart horse, but he knew that being in a group was usually safer.

Shishio froze, his lips parted and his teeth freezing mid-tear. He had been munching lazily on the new grass of Spring when the sound of pounding hoofbeats had reaching his ears. The rhythm of those hooves was not familiar, and when paired with no nickers of joy or snorts of outrage he knew for certain that those hooves belonged to a stranger.
His neck slowly rose, ears swiveling about as he searched for the direction of the noise. His grey gaze slowly swept the area, taking in every movement, whether caused by a small wind or animal. Shishio was completely still, his breathing slow and yet still adequately serving it's purpose of supplying oxygen to his body.
He would spot this stranger, and decide whether he was friend or foe.

As he came closer to the mouth of the forest once more, Resplendence couldn't help but slow himself down to a light trot, unsure if anything would be on the other side of the mouth of this forest - he could never be too sure when he was alone. Due to this, the moment he finally hit the first few trees of this break, he stopped dead in his tracks, unsure if he should continue just yet.
Highly unaware of the other, somewhat visible stallion that had infiltrated such a quiet area, he lifted his head to peer up into the trees. Scanning the area, he nodded to himself.. this just to make sure nothing happened to be waiting for the right opportunity to strike at him whilst he was still vulnerable at the mouth of the forest. He knew how to dart, and how to do it FAST.
"Doesn't seem so bad today.." he muttered to himself, unconsciously.

Shishio's eyes found what they had previously sought: a stallion, much his own size, standing just beyond the mouth of the forest and staring into it as though deciding something of no little importance. Her followed the other's line of vision, peering into the treetops as though expecting to see something pop out.
Shishio's eyes narrowed slightly, his normally soft features transformed into the jagged lines that were clearly masculine... and dangerous, if their owner should chose to be such. He moved forwards silently, his hoofbeats falling silently as he carefully avoided crackling branches and crisp fallen leaves. He stopped a scant few feet from the other, body tense; he would fight if need be, but as he preffered to avoid conflict he showed no other signs of agression.
He remained silent, allowing the other to chose the terms on which their first meeting would occur.

At first it had appeared that the other stallion had been completely oblivious to the other that stood only a few moments behind him, sharp and ready to attack if be. But as the short moment flew by, the head of the black creature turn to regard the other, white as snow with purple tints, and a near threatening look.
It only took a second thereafter for the poor stallion to respond, and with a hop and a few hobbling steps away, Resplendence peered on the other with both - but at the same time, neither a hint of - fear, worry and a small need to suddenly bolt away, but it was the first instinct to stay and wait it out, before he decided what to do. All by himself. Oh the heavens hated him today. "G-Good lord, you nearly scared the blue right off me, if I hadn't had half a mind, I wouldn't have been sure what I have done!" came the somewhat strained voice, his eyes fixated on the other, almost as if waiting to see it were to attack him; in which, he would dart, into the dark woods which he came to.
It was like being stuck between a small rock and a large wide place that wasn't very hard to get out of, you just didn't want to know what would bite you if you went there.

Shishio relaxed, feeling the tension ease out of his body. His neck became less arched, his legs less stiff, his facial features melting into a soft smile that could have been used to placate foals or woo females. This strange stallion posed no threat to him... nor, most likely, to any other.
"Please forgive me." He lowered his head slightly, placing himself on a slightly lower level than the startled stallion and therefore in a vunerable position. (Though could one be vunerable when there was nothing that could pose even the scantest resemblance to a threat? ...) "My name is Shishio, may I inquire as to yours?" He felt that the niceties, when properly observed, were a strategiv way of allowing the other to regain his self-control and settle into comfortable ground.

Upon watching the other one suddenly drop all his physical agitation on his features, Resplendence himself, couldn't help but calm down just a small bit. Just enough so that the other wouldn't get suspicious, but not enough to where he himself had felt well enough to be calmed. It wasn't entirely that he did not trust this other horse; he just was unsure what to do at the time.
When the other finally broke the silence that had loomed after he burst out so suddenly, it almost soothed him a fair bit more, and turning his attention to the other, he finally took the time to concentrate on the other life form, and not on the easiest escape route. "Ah! Oh, eh, That's alright.. I'm easily spooked by myself." he mentioned sheepishly, his head lowering slightly, long white and blue hair flowing into his face. "Resplendence is the name I was given, apparently to counteract my sister, who was named Eclipse." Which never made sense to the stallion, as he was black as night, and she was bright as day.

"Resplendence is a good name." Shishio inclined his head respectfully. The other seemed to have relaxed sufficiently, at least enough to engage in something remotely resembling intelligent conversation. Of course, Shishio himself was not all too bright on this day; he had forgone all semblance of brilliance, as he often did when eating. After all, how smart does one have to be to take a bite of grass?
Then again... although the grass itself stays still, one must be on the lookout for sudden gusts of wind; they may change the area in which the grass is placed, and one could suddenly find oneself with a mouthfull of rock or dirt. And the preccision required to take only the tip of the grass, the sweetest part, without pulling the whole blade up by it's roots!
Shishio sighed forlornly, wondering how it came to pass that he figured eating was synonymous with intelligence. He looked back to Resplendence. "May I ask what it is you are doing alone, if you are apt to spook?" One eyebrow raised, he stared at the other stallion with clear-eyed intensity.

"Oh, yeah, my charge has apparently taken off for a few days to enjoy being himself - very difficult to meander around by myself when I'm usually in a pair. Haven't seen my twin for a bit either, so.. technically I've been alone for a bit now." he answered honestly, watching Shishio as he finally decided that there would be no definite harm at this time - with the exception of any unnatural event that could happen by the meeting of these two minds that wasn't foretold in the stars! .. or something.
"Thank you, I find Shishio a nice name, fun to say at the least." he finished, a youthful grin finally breaking on the maw of the stallion, his braided tail flicking softly behind him.

Shishio gave a brief nod, his mannerism entirely slow and languid. His movements had taken on the general feel of a lazy summer day; no sharp jabs, no sudden jerks, simply liquid-smooth subtle shifts of position. He considered the information the other had provided, completely skipping over the attempted flattery- for if that was indeed what the compliment on his name had been, he would pay it no further thought.
He rose one eyebrow, fixing his gaze again on Resplendence. "May I ask why you are not worried about your charge?" He did not wish to seem like he was interrogating his new acquantance, and so added a little nonsense that some found so amusing. "If I were to loose sight of one under my protection, I would go quite... bonkers?" He tried out some slang terms he had heard once before.

"It's not that I'm worried about my charge, it's more or less I'm .. anxious when I'm by myself." he started, looking the other with his soft dark eyes. May as well come out with it. "I've been alone before, when I was just a foal, I didn't like it so when I found him, I figured being with a friend was easier. He says I have anxiety issues. Whatever that means." he noted. It wasn't that he didn't know what anxiety means, it was just that, he was unknowingly blind to his issues with being so alone, for better or worse.
"But yeah, I think if it was anyone else, I would have been more worried, like my sister, or Mesi, but not Jack, he's too.. smart to get lost." he finished, laughing softly as he looked around the clearing once again, almost expecting the accursed stallion to just appear, like things did in lore, glowing like a beacon through the forest or something.

Ah. So this stallion's somewhat skitterish attitude was not some figment of Shishio's imagination, rather Resplendence's natural way of dealing with things. The slightly jumpy attitude was the embodiment of his anxiety, a way to release the tension that was surely building within him even at the very thought of being alone. Shishio smiled in satisfaction; a puzzle solved.
... If this Jack was too smart to get lost, then why was Resplendence alone? Either Jack had abandoned the poor soul, and for all Shishio knew about the guy he could just have it in him, or Resplendence had wandered off without noticing his constant companion was no longer there.
"Which would mean... that you were the one to get lost? Or to stray from the chosen path?" Shishio rose an eyebrow, smirking slightly as he watched the other stallion closely for any signs of distress.

Unfortunately for the dark stallion, he was very easy to see through - especially when his intentions were good. Smiling with a soft and yet slightly embarrassed look to him, he lowered his head slowly before nodding a bit. "Yeah, I have a small issue with getting distracted easily from the beaten path. I'm more for adventure at times, and tho the rest of the group do too, sometimes I stray because I think of my own adventure. Not very grown up of me, but I've yet to find a reason to fully grow up." he stated, looking up to the other slowly.
"Besides, Jack's never really grown up himself. He's a free-spirit, I think you'd enjoy his stories." he wispfully said. He had always wanted to grow up to be like the accursed creature, but as he matured, he realized that Jack had more than intellegence - he had a deep seeded wisdom from being alive so long, scoring the different parts of this world. What a strange stallion he was.

It was quite remarkable for a full-grown stallion with so much pent-up energy to remain still for any great length of time, but for Shishio it was an every day occurrence. After all, how else was one to give their full attention to the one with whom one was speaking? When walking, attention must be divided between not falling on one's nose and listening. When splashing through cool water, attention must be divided between not inhaling water and listening. When... ah, but even thinking of multi-tasking was bringing his mind away from the matters at hand.
Shishio pondered Resplendence's words. "... Retaining some of the childlike innocence of a foal can be a wise decision that can bring much joy to your life, however there are certain... drawbacks..." ... namingly, convincing a mare that you are worthy of rearing their children when you are but a child (mentally) yourself... but Shishio felt that would be rude to speak aloud.

The slight restlessness was felt mutually between the two bodies that occupied that part of the clearing that afternoon, as Resplendence felt that he, himself, had been standing still for far longer than he would naturally if left to his own devices. This almost baffled him as much as the fact of the matter that he was having an intellegent conversation and not screwing it up for himself.
Flickering his head once to the side to remove some fly away mane, he nodded to the other, after listening rather carefully to the words that were coming out of his mouth. It may have taken him a little longer to understand, but he took 'em in. "I understand how that can complicate sometimes. I do get times where I am not readily accepted by some due to my foallike qualities, but I believe I will know when it's time to start anew as an adult.." he stated, almost as if having taken much longer to actually string together adult sounding words, which only further amused him.
Almost as if reading the other's mind, he chuckled, ".. Besides, I haven't been by myself long enough to find a pretty girl to converse for, only my sister and her guardian since foal, Shiva, have been my.. female conversation since I was but a colt. Pretty bad."
