Kaindra let out a small little sigh as she looked around the compoud a bit confused. She only moved in the other day (the task surpisingly easy since she still had 90% of her stuff locked in the old apartment) but the compund itself was a little worry some. The new guardian decided it be fun to take her new little spirit out for a walk in the park. Too bad the young kitsune wasn't sure how to get back home from the forest. She didn't exactly leave the forest in the same spot she entered, so now she was stuck wandering the compound, praying she met up with someone who could tell her where to go.
"I should have asked for a map." the fox muttered to herself. She meant too, she really did, just the idea of carring for a life, (and getting a free place) kinda made her forget to ask. Then when she left her apartment this morning she meant to hunt someone down for a map but then the forest had looked so ncie and Kaindra really prefered to figure things out for herself. Which was always why she had such problems. She could never just ask for help when she really needed it. The really anoying part was that she always meant to, she just forgot till she was in serious trouble.
"Come on, there has to be some one here somewhere. It's not like I'm the only person living here." Kaindra muttered under her breath. "I just want one person, anyone...whose not creepy."

Forest meant lots of trees. Trees meant lots of hiding places. Hiding places meant hide and seek, duh. The little hawk child dart through the trees, breathing heavily as he went further and further in. Eventually he exited through the other side, bringing him to another side of the compound. Wah? That couldn't be right...
He paused for a moment, thinking about what to do next.
"Gavin!" an angry sounding voice called from somewhere on the other side of the trees. Patricia hated when he did this. "You better get back here right this instant!"
The I'm-gonna-put-you-in-time-out-indefinitely tone of her voice sent Gavin running again. What was he supposed to do? If Picia wouldn't play with him willingly, then dangit he was going to make her. And plus, she'd probably spend most of her time searching through the trees while he'd be on the other side of the compound. That'd show her.
However, his grand cause poofed from his mind when he saw another woman walking along the compound. He'd never seen her before, nor had he ever seen a grown up like her. For a second he stopped running right before her, but then heard his name bellowed from somewhere amidst the trees. He cringed.
The hawk child held out his hand to her, and put on the most innocent smile he could make. "Help me hide? It's hide an' go seek!"

Kaindra glanced over when she heard the first calls of life, and her ears perked up happily as she started to head in that direction. Okay so the voice sounded...mean, but at least it was a voice right? It was an option of someone to talk too, someone who might live here or at least know where the hell she could go for a map.
The kitsune started to head in the direction of the voice when a new figure dashed out from the forest. She snifted a little, turning to see a young boy dashing twoards her. She tilted her head to the side as he spoke to her and though she glanced at the darkening sky Kaindra could never resist a good game.
"I could help you hide." she agreed slowly, "But only if you promise to help me find a map to this place when the game is over." Kaindra wasn't dumb, (though her school grades would defy that), and she had no plans on letting this boy escape without at least helping her find a home. He seemed to live here, since he had someone searching for him and came from the woods. Besides his odd arrangment of wings made her believe he was a child from here.
A hawk, or egale of some kind.

Gavin considered this for a moment. Map? He didn't have a map. Hadrian might, he hadn't seen the mage in ages. Hadrian knew everything. Whether or not he even knew where to find the mage, another bellow from the forest gave him cause to lie.
"Okay!" he agreed hastily. Hide first, figure out the logistics later. Maybe Haki had a map? "Where to hide?"
Because, obviously, if she were asking for a map, of course she'd know where all the best hiding spots were. However, this thought never occurred to him. Either way, Picia would be just as lost as this lady. She never got out much herself, which is why these games were so much fun.

It just so happened that it was the hawk child's lucky day. Kaindra had no idea how to find her way back to her apartment but she did know about the forest she just exited, at least the last part, she wasn't sure how to get back to where she orginally enterted or anything.
"Uh, come here." she urged and walked back to a certain tree she thought of. The branches were lower and great for climbing, a tree is always a wonderous place to hide and the only thing you had to fear was getting stuck and the boy had wings so he shouldn't have to worry about that, right?
"Here, how about this tree?" she asked, "People almost never look up and if you're quiet no one will know you're there unless you want them to know you're there. I hide in them all the time as a kid. I'll even help you get up if you want." she offered, giving the kid a small grin. He was cute, reminded her of herself at his age.

Gavin gladly followed her to the tree, though he thought that they'd be heading further away from Picia's angry voice, which kept changing location within the foliage indicating that she was probably lost. At least that would give them some time. He stared up at the tree, biting his bottom lip. Climbing trees was a skill he had neither mastered nor even tried yet. The branches looked low enough...
"I need help," he smiled sheepishly as he accepted her offer, ashamed of himself that he'd never ventured up into the treetops. It looked nice up there.
The thought of falling had never occurred to him. He didn't fall. He was invincible! Well, maybe not to the wrath of his guardian...

"That's fine, most kids need help in the begining." Kainda asured him as she bent down and grabed him, helping him onto the first branch, when he was securly on the branch she grined and steped back, watching him, "Make sure to test a branch before you climb on to it."
Kainda didn't want him to fall or anything. She flicked an ear to the yelling, hearing the way it got closer then farther away. She felt a small pang of guilt. If that person was lost like her, but in the forest and it got dark....Kainda shook her head, it was a game, she had no right to intupt it with adult worries. Her eyes flicked to the sun anyway and she promsied herself she'd end the game herself when it started to go down and seek out the guardian, didn't want her getting lost.
For now though, let the kid enjoy himself, it was so rare for her to get practice dealing with a kid on her own. And she would need the practice. So Kainda grabed a branch herself and pulled her self up, hearing it creak, she wouldn't be able to go nearly as high as Gavin but so was the curse of being older.
"I love climbing trees." Kainda admited and giggled a bit, looking over to Gavin, "Smells so fresh and different, like your own little world, just a few feet off the ground."

Gavin gratefully accepted the help onto the first branch. It wobbled a little bit, but didn't feel like it was going to break. How humiliating would that be. Falling down on your first branch. Luck seemed to shine on him today, however, because he then stepped up to the second branch without any problem. The nice lady seemed to know what she was doing, so he'd follow her steps.
"You're right!" he exclaimed, following her up the tree. "This is lots of fun!"
Why hadn't he discovered this earlier? This was totally going to be his new favorite hobby.
While the two of them were up in the tree branches, a very angry Patricia finally stormed through the area. She was still lost, but a little less lost than five minutes ago. At least now she could see the exit to the stupid forest. Her frizzy hair had caught a few leaves and sticks on her search, but that did not seem to bother her. When she found that little brat...oh man, he was going to get a time out of epic proportions.
"Gavin! You come out right this instant!" she yelled, just underneath the tree where the little hawk boy sat, watching from above and giggling slightly.

Kainda stayed several feet off the ground, sitting in the tree as she grined at the hawk boy, he was cute, she wondered if he would like to meet her kid when she finaly got him. Kainda hoped her kid would be out door and adventurous like this kid, because Kainda would have no idea what to do wtih someone who didn't like to play rough.
"We are going to go down to your guadian eventually right?" Kainda asked after a moment of listening to the girl yell. Part of her grined as this reminded ehr of when she used to hdie from her parents, waiting till their anger was just before the breaking point and would jump down, saying how she just heard them.
She really was a beast of a child. Kainda couldn't help but grin. She never felt sorry for anything she did to her parents. She didn't know if that meant she was a horrible kid or if just because she still, to this day, felt they deserved it. It never seemed like they were worried anyway, just mad, because she wasn't perfect like Miranda.
"She's getting pretty mad now."

After seeing his guardian's display of frustration, Gavin could only reply to the fox-lady's question with an emphatic shake of his head. He was going to get in so much trouble for this, and both of them knew it. His old mommy didn't do too much to him when he did bad things. Picia, on the other hand, liked these things called 'time-outs' and constantly kept taking away his toys everytime he did something bad. She'd even spanked him once. Something told him that if she caught him, he'd have to go through that lovely experience again.
Unfortunately nature seemed set against him, as the branch beneath their feet decided that now would be a good time to start breaking. Right above Picia.

Kainda's ears perked up when she heard the crack of the branch. With a silent curse she reached over quickly to grab the boy, not wanting to let him fall, but leaned to far. Her added weight to the branch only aided the cracking as both kitsune and hawk boy fell to the ground.
Kainda attempted to land on her back, so that Gaven would land on her stomach. A heroic move that didn't seem so smart once the ground slammed into her back and Gavin into her stomach, making her temporarily loose the ablity to breath.

Patricia yelped when a blur of orange fell right in front of her, almost taking her down with them. She jumped back, thinking maybe it was some sort of forest creature out to kill her. In a way, she was sort of right. She stared at the kitsune with a very confused expression on her face. A human...fox? Was it some sort of demon? It was unlike anything she'd ever seen before, but when she noticed Gavin on her chest she stiffened back up into 'iron-fisted mother' mode.
Gavin oofed when they hit the ground, his vision just slightly blurry. He rolled off the fox lady onto his back, only to have his eyes meet Patricia's. Ah well, might as well make this last as long as he could.
"Hi Picia," he smiled as best he could, the slightest movement shooting pain throughout his entire body.
Patricia merely stared down at him with an expression that told of the longest time-out in the history of the universe.
"May I ask what in all hells were you doing?" she asked in a steady voice that sounded like the next ice age.

"Currently?" Kainda asked as she tried hard to bring air IN to her lungs and keep her stomach conents from going out. She gasped a few times as she slowly got up, wincing hard as her tail twitched unhappily. "Falling out of trees. Before that we were playing hide n' go seek. With you. Sorry. My name is Kainda." The fox woman put out her hand looking pretty battered and bruised.
"Don't worry, your kid is safe, I'm not a pervert or a kidnapper. I'm going to have a guardian soon. And well, trying to learn how to handle a kid sort of. Also...I'm lost. He was going to show me how to get out of this forest and back to my home. I'm sorry I have a terrible sense of direction." Kainda explained and apologized all at once.

Patricia stood deathly still, though her eyes made her frustration almost tangible. Gavin knew that look. Bending his head down to hide his smile--she never liked it if he was laughing when he was in trouble--he scampered to his feet and toward her. She looked down at him over her beak-like nose in a way that said, 'Yeah that's right. You know how much trouble you've got yourself in now.'
Returning her focus back to the other young woman, she responded with in a voice that sounded like the calm before the world exploded.
"It's very simple. Go straight back through the forest and make a left at the path. You should see the gate in the distance."
There was also an implied, 'Now please leave me to punish my son from now until doomsday,' somewhere in there too.

"Uhhhh, I live here." Kainda said slowly. She was horrible at picking up punnishment hints. She shouldn't have been, considering how much she got into trouble when she was a kid but she could be tottally oblivious. "I don't need to get out, I actually need to get to apartment building B." after she was there she was pretty sure that she could find her apartment.
She hopped.
"And go easy on the kid. He isn't that bad and he was going to help me. Besides I'm the one that suggested we go play." So this was proably making a great impression on the kid's mom but Kainda sucked at impressing parents. All her boyfriend's parents hated her.
