It was a beautiful morning, the afternoon sun rising close to it's peak position in the sky. Soft, puffy clouds rolled over the land, lazily idling away the afternoon as their shadows passed far below. The birds sang their songs, the breeze whispered its secrets, and (to Bella) there couldn't be a more beautiful day!
In fact, for as long as she could remember, EVERY day was beautiful! Even when the clouds turned thick and grey, even when they cried millions of tears to sprinkle upon the world. Even the darkest and dreariest of days was a glorious day in Bella's life.
Oh yes, everyday was a little different then the one before - every sunrise, every bird song, every passing tree and flower. Nothing was the same in the young girl's eyes, and that made EVERY day wonderful.
"Eeeeeeeeee~!!" Came the squeal, her high pitched voice breaking through the songs of nature around her. All around the great meadow the little foal bolted as fast as her hooves would take her! Like a blond streak of lightning, the sweet natures soquili felt her energy grow with the rush. The wind whipped around her, mane and tail streaming behind her like banners.
Every step her muscles burned from effort, every step she tried to run faster then before. Running was so much fun!! Head down, the girl closed her eyes and for just one moment - just one second - she pretended she could fly!
Birds flew - why couldn't she?
Maybe it wasn't the air that lifted their tiny forms up, up and away? Well, Bella was tiny compared to mountains and Big Ones - didn't that mean she could be lifted? Or! Or or or - maybe it was how they thought? If she thought hard enough - and long enough - maybe then she'd lift off and take to the skies?
Still trying to put together the odds and ends of the mystery, Bella felt the ground shift beneath her. The meadow dipped in to a bit of a hill, and the girl gasped as her weight was thrown forward.
Uh-oh! "I --- caaaaaaant - STOP~!!!!!!!!!" She neighed, broad smile still plastered on her features. The hill wasn't huge, but it was enough to cause the little foal a rush as instincts took over, attempting to keep her from toppling and tumbling head over heels.
Ah yes. . . Running was great fun for the girl. . . except when she had to throw on the breaks. That part took a little more getting used to.

The day had started out as usual and fine, Twilight taking one of his usual daily strolls. He never missed a day to when he wouldn't be walking around....trying to take new paths each time to quell his urge to get out of the lowlands and back on the untrodden road to adventure. Yet he still had to stay...at least for a little while longer to visit with his family.
Letting out a soft sigh, he often didn't know what to think with all of the new Soquili he was meeting and the issues with his sister. Unable to see her due to her pregnancy, his mother and brother's strange dissapearence....all this drama was much too unusual for the stallion to bear. At least on his adventures he didn't have to worry about anything, the bare necessity was staying alive...then one could think about comfort, and of course seeing all one could see. Yet since it wouldn't be his maiden journey - he knew what to expect and thus this time it would probably be much more joyous and fun then a mission.
However, something seemed to tear him from his thoughts, hearing the shrill of something tiny up ahead. With his instincts kicking in immediately, Twilight set off in a fast gallop towards the sound as he broke out of the forest and onto the open meadow.catching the sight of a tail as it flittered down a hill. Shifting directions, he nearly flew off the edge of the hill and as he was unable to see the smile on the little fillies face he wasn't aware that she was having fun rather in some peril. Taking a small leap, he landed with his four hooves on either side of her lithe body and wrapped his neck around hers as his legs dug into the ground - efficiently stopping them at the bottom of the slope.
Luckily for his size he was able to pull such a stunt, as he pulled his head back from the young foal and stepped over her to stand at her side.
"You outta be more careful, you could have broken a leg if you'd fallen at that speed." With a small chuckle, he smiled...never one for scolding since he knew he'd have done the exact same at this one's age.
Looking down to her, he had to admit she was quite cute, so soft with her creamy coat and mane that she held a perfect look of innocence. She didn't look like she was even capable of a bad thought. Tilting his head to the side as his own mane blew in the breeze which passed through the meadow, his thoughts went out immediately to her mother - who if he knew anything about some mothers would be completely sick with worry.
"Where's your parents? Are they not worried that you're running out here by yourself?"

Flying down the hill, aware but unconcerned about her speed, the blond filly truly felt as if she were flying. The wind whipped past and through her mane, her tail streaming behind her like a proud flag. Her hooves hit the ground fast and hard, momentum working with gravity to make her 'flight' soooo very fun!
One moment, eyes shut, she was soaring and the next her ears picked up the sound of a larger something behind her. Opening her eyes wide, she felt a shadow fall over her and a black neck wrap around her.
Squealing with a start, she felt her body slam in to his neck as the large stallion pulled on the breaks. It was a good thing Twilight was there - shock and surprise, as well as the sudden stop caused her to lose her footing. Tangling, she would have fallen flat on her face had she not the much larger stallion around her for support.
Too soon, both cream and ebony bodies came to a stop, the ground evening out and Bella's footsteps becoming much more sure. Heart racing, adrenaline pumping, as soon as she was released the girl reared up in excitement, neighing her delight. "Eeeeee!! Wasn't that absolutely fantastic!?" She giggled with delight, pawing at the black stranger before bolting in circles around him.
Prancing around him, a smile full of sunshine plastered firmly upon her face, she felt no fear or concern. His worries went completely over her head, for all Bella saw was a gentle smile. Ooooh, had he had as much fun as she running down the hill? "That was fun! Let's go again!!" Oh, the girl had half a mind to try to run back up. . .
A few bounding steps, and the cream filly found herself sliding back down to the foot. For a stallion like Twilight, the hill wasn't much of a problem. But for a small filly the size of Bella, it would be quite the task. "Or not. . ." She giggled, shaking out her wind ruffled mane before turning to look back at the stranger.
His last question sunk in to her head head, and she realized the male was talking to her. Parents. . . .? The little one went quiet, stamping her front hoof as she contemplated his question. Where were her parents....
Hmm. "I don't know. . ." She shrugged her shoulders, a little frown entering her features. Glancing up at Twilight, she gave a little laugh, bucking her hind legs in a moments joy. "I don't think I have any, really. There's a human girl I know that often gives me treats and seems to like me an awful lot but. . . . ." Besides the human, the pale Soquili had no other ties.
This was the first time the subject of parents came up with her, and until now she never thought about needing or having any. Did she have some? Maybe. . . . somewhere. Frowning slightly, more out of concentration then any unhappiness, she turned her bright eyes up to Twilight. "Where are your parents?" She asked with a grin. "Are yours worried you're running down hills too?"
