This concept is loosely based on one of the most memorable and fondly thought team pokemon of in my pokegaming history. Mind, I'm still fleshing this out a great deal.

User ImageTyphlosion (バクフーン, Bakufūn, Bakphoon)User Image

User Image-Name Meaning-
Typhlosion's name is a portmanteau of the words 'typhoon' and 'explosion' while the Bakphoon is a portmanteau of the Japanese word for explosion, 'bakuhatsu', and the word typhoon. The 'Typhlo' section of the name may come from Typho, which is Latin for smoke.

User Image-Evolutionary line-
User ImageCyndaquil, (14) User ImageQuilava, (36) User ImageTyphlosion

User Image-POKEDEX Entry-
TYPHLOSION obscures itself behind a shimmering heat haze that it creates using its intensely hot flames. This Pokemon creates blazing explosive blasts that burn everything to cinders.

Weight: 175 lbs (79.5 kg)
Egg Group: Ground
National Dex: 157

User Image-Weak Against-
Ground, Rock, and Water type moves.

User Image-Strong Against-
Bug, Fire, Grass, Ice, and Steel type moves

User Image-Biological characteristics-
Unlike Cyndaquil, Typhlosion bears no relation to the echidna, instead resembling something of a wolverine. Its body is heavy, but despite that, it's capable of obtaining incredible speeds. The number of special vents it possesses has dropped to the row on its upper back; however, it can put forth a tremendous amount of heat. Typhlosion could also resemble a lion because of the ring of fire around its neck much like a mane. Typhlosion carries the same coloration of its lower forms. Its yellow fur is brighter than it is on Quilava, yet still duller than Cyndaquil. Its fur is incredibly coarse and somewhat shaggy, but it is still flame-retardant, giving it extreme resistance to heat and fire attacks. This may also be to keep it from injuring itself during battle when using attacks such as Flamethrower, or Flame Wheel. Typhlosion also comes in a rare maroon-coloured pelt as opposed to it's usual blue. It is currently unknown why the fur is colored this way, but the maroon-pelted Typhlosion is exeedingly popular among trainers who collect oddly colored pokemon. It also seems to have very sharp claws with which it can use Crush Claw.

Far more aggressive than either Cyndaquil or Quilava, Typhlosion are exceedingly hard to find out in the plains. They are a known cause of grassfires as the heat they expel is hot enough to cause the air around them to shimmer. It viciously assaults its opponents, reducing them to ashes from its incredibly hot fire.

Though not color-blind, Typhlosion have slightly poorer eyesight than Quilava due to smaller pupils. It makes up for this by possessing a keen sense of smell and remarkable hearing. Capable of moving equally well on either two feet or four, it can also make incredible leaps to attack opponents from above.[citation needed]In battle, this Pokemon uses stealth and cunning abilities to make the foe faint.

Typhlosion is currently the fastest documented pokemon in the Johto region, perhaps to make up for its strangely low defense.

User Image-Special Abilities-
Typhlosion is rumored to have an instinctual attack that it uses as a trump card, known as Eruption. This attack is produced by a Typhlosion first heating its body, then rapidly rubbing its thick fur together. As of yet, few trainers have witnessed this monstrosity of offense; however, one would assume that sending it into a battle in which its opponent is equally as strong would cause a Typhlosion to use this secret weapon to end the stalemate - hypothetically, to its own advantage. When a Typhlosion's health drops in battle, the Blaze ability comes into play. This gives its Fire-type attacks a boost of 1.5 times their normal power. Due to a slight shortage of Defense, one would send Typhlosion into battle against a Pokémon which uses mostly physical moves if they hope to use Blaze's bonus to their advantage. It has high Special Attack stats, making it a good choice to teach TMs that contain Special moves.

User Image-Diet-
Typhlosion have several sharp canine teeth along their gumlines, suggesting a carnivorous diet. As many Fire-type moves, especially ones that are powerful in battle, are best used in Beauty Contests, a Typhlosion that is good for contests would specifically be one that likes dry flavors.

User Image-Other-
Male Typhlosions outnumber female Typhlosions 87.5% to 12.5%. Perhaps this is why wild Typhlosion are so hard to find, and most Typhlosion that /are/ found were trained up from a Cyndaquil by their trainers.

This is where I'll be sticking my random mishmash of ideas for my Typhlosion character, which will be a pokemon-to-morph. biggrin

Name: Quil (come on. I had to.)
Age (mental/physical): Adult
Gender: Male
Approx Level: 43

-Physical Charactersitics-

-Scarrage? He did go through some tough trainers...(read below)
-Red patches of fur around his shoulders, like on the back of Cyndaquil, which are vents for his flames

-Ideas on changes Quil goes through-

-Loss of the ability to travel easily on four legs
-If he develops skin, it is deeply tanned (or quickly becomes so)
-Keeps his sharp teeth
-As he shifts from a fully pokemon form, he may require corrective eyewear (GLASSES OLOLOL not sure yet. If I go with it, may turn to proscription goggles, since they're less likely to break or fall off)
-That's all for now XD

-Moves-

Flame Wheel - Power: 60, Acc: 100, PP: 25, Range: Normal, Effect: Inflicts Burn condition an opponent with a 10% probability.
Earthquake - Power: 100, Acc: 100, PP: 10, Range: Enemy2/Ally1, Effect: Normal attack.
Flamethrower - Power: 95, Acc: 100, PP: 15, Range: Normal, Effect: Inflicts Burn condition an opponent with a 10% probability. If the opponent is Frozen, it'll melt the ice.
Quick Attack - Power: 40, Acc: 100, PP: 30, Range: Normal, Effect: Attack hits first without fail. (If used by both, it works for the one with higher Speed.)

-Likes-
-Spicy foods

-Dislikes-
-Dry foods

-------

Very jaded towards humans Not jaded, that's too strong. Instead, I want to say he has a mild superiority complex when it comes to humans. And why not? They can't do half the things he can do, and when fighting, they generally reduce themselves to fist-or-knife fights or, more commonly, pull out their pokemon and have /them/ battle it out. He's not very wrong when he thinks of humans as weak.

Was caught as a Quilava by humans, and trained to perform in a travelling group kind of like a circus, but without the silly clothes and makeup.

His trainers among the travelling group were kind in their own fashion, but very strict. Not one to bend to rigid authority, naturally Quil became stubborn and unwilling to learn. As was his habit even out in the wild, he began challenging other pokemon to battles in order to gauge how strong he was compared to them, and get stronger himself.

Always an aggressive Quilava, and most certainly did not want to be taken from his home in the plains.

When he evolved into Typhlosion (quite on accident, during [another] fight he'd picked with a fellow performing pokemon) this did not improve. In fact, it got worse. Eventually, the group gave up and found Quil to be far too aggressive to be a productive part of the show.

Being a Typhlosion now and quite strong enough to lift things, he was put to work behind the scenes, moving and lifting equipment. However, he knew very well that moving equipment was a demotion from performer, and, though he was aware he was crappy performer, resented it. So, he developed a bad habit of ignoring orders, or simply setting the things he was moving on fire, by accident or on purpose. After a particularly spectacular fire, the travelling group decided that Quil just wasn't worth it to keep around, and put him up for sale.

He went through a series of jobs and trainers next. Some were genuinely interested in becoming his friend, but parents or friends and the like eventually persuaded them to give him up as dangerous. Most of his buyers were, however, just hungry for strong pokemon. While he didn't mind getting stronger, Quil wasn't fond of the strict regimens he was expected to adhere to with these trainers. His most recent buyer decided that it was just too much trouble to deal with such a stubborn pokemon, sold him to CRONUS, and walked away without looking back. Hey, it was easy money, he got rid of an annoying pokemon, he could find another just as strong somewhere else, and it wasn't like CRONUS was going to keep the Typhlosion around for its good company.

As a result of all this, Quil is very picky about which humans he lets near, usually preferring the young, or the ernest-faced. Humans in a position of authority (of which there are many), though, he has no desire to be around. Because of that, he will require a muzzle when brought out for treatment, and the handler will likely require flame-retardant protective wear. Because of the treatment he's recieved, he is very suspicious about the motives of humans and what they want from him. He needs convincing to tolerate any human, though he needs slightly less convincing when it comes to humans who seem to really want to be his friend, like the handful of honest trainers who had him before. However, he will not trust /their/ friends who, he belives, will want them to not associate with him like the friends of those past honest trainers. ((Yay, I'm confusing))

Still, he is a very solitary creature, and it's touch-and-go about whether he wants company or not even from those he's decided are allowed near him.

He prefers to spend his time alone. When he is by himself, he's at his most serene. If he's been alone for a while, his natural aggressiveness is slow to start up again, if someone visits. It is during this time that he would be likely to make any friends at all.

Quil is very tender about his strength, and constantly strives to be the strongest. He will gladly accept (and most of the time propose) contests and battles

He doesn't quite know how to act around other pokemon, especially those that weren't common on the plains that were his home. The pokemon he met in the travelling group were very focussed on their performances, and the pokemon his 'trainers' had... well, he usually wasn't around long enough to form any sort of bond. As a result, he is slightly skittish even around pokemon who are only trying to be nice, and may appear bumbling in his speech. He constantly watches the pokemon he meets, to gauge their reactions to him.

Although Quil is very strong, he possesses no common sense when it comes to the types of pokemon he fights with. He will just as gladly fight a Steel type as a Water type, and so loses about half of the fights he picks. This is a source of constant irritation with him, and he's vowed to find a way around these weaknesses if he can.

He will also show no common sense in the judging of strength in his opponents. Quil will go all out in every fight and not care if his opponent is drastically weaker or stronger than himself. This often results in one of two things: An insanely quick match, or an insanely injured Quil.

Under all the anger and touchyness, though, Quil is very loyal. That is, if anyone can penetrate the armor he's set up for himself. Like his extreme aggressiveness, though, his loyalty is also extreme. He will very likely be willing to accept massive damage for someone who has earned his respect and friendship. However, he will be unwilling to believe anything ill of this person beyond the normal bantering of friendship, and thus is rendered blind to their faults. Something that isn't always a wise decision.

Singleminded

When he begins the morph towards humanity, he becomes horrified and eventually depressed, thinking that he's turning into the very thing he hates. Which, physically, is true. This makes his solitary nature worse, though his aggressive nature seems to take a backburner, and Quil becomes easier to control by CRONUS.

His bumbling speech (pokemon) which would have become less bumbling with the more time he spent in the prescence of other pokemon who talked with him, will backslide and become more pronounced as he shifts, being unused to dealing with such nonsense inventions of humans such as 'words' and 'grammar'. This will frustrate him, so after a few tries, he will likely use disjointed sentences, punctuated by growls of annoyance. Being in complete disgust of humans, he may refuse to use the human language at all, or as little as possible.

Hey may insist on keeping his pokemon name during and after the completion of the morph. In fact, he more than likely will, unless forced to change to a more human name, or, less likely, persuaded to take a human name.

As he becomes more human, it's possible that he will eventually crave companionship, friends, and the like since humans as a rule are generally a 'pack' animal. Quil will limit his companions to only a few people, of course, and only to other morphs- pokemon-to-morph more than any other, since they didn't start out as a human. This may be what lifts him out of his depression about becoming less fully pokemon. His aggression towards and suspicion of full humans will remain.

As his depression lifts, as Quil gets further into the morph and aquires 'friends', his aggression will likely return. However, it will be tempered towards his 'friends' and develop a sarcastic bend instead of pure violence. He will resume his attempts to be the strongest possible, and tendency to accept and initiate fights. However, he will no longer go all out against pokemon/people that are clearly weaker than himself, and will show a smidgeon of caution against those clearly much stronger than himself. It is unclear why this shift in attitude occurs.
