Walking as quietly as she could, Torment approached the grove of trees from the south end. She hoped Father hadn't noticed she had slipped away from their little home, while he concentrated on his teachings with Taint. She hadn't meant to be gone for so long, but having found a new playmate to talk with, the minutes had slipped by without notice. As much as she'd have loved to talk to the kalona filly some more, her fear of her Father's anger was far more important than continuing on conversations.

Keeping her head low, she slinked back into the small clearing amongst the scattered trees, eyeing and watching out for any signs of her brothers or Father.

He snorted, finding that the easiest way to expell air quickly before trying to take in another breath that seared his lungs. He hurt. This was nothing like the bites or scratches from the rats. No... This was far worse and this was, aparantly, something he was going to have to learn to live with.

He scrambled to his hooves once more, determined to stand his ground as best he could. His wings flared and then, remembering the last thing that had been growled at him about his weaknesses, he drew them tightly against his body. When open they were a weakness. They were so pink that anyone would be able to see them for miles. They were hideous and he should despise himself for them. He was tainted... Tainted... Taint.

His nose wrinkled as he snarled, determined now more than ever to not tremble and fall when Plague came at him this time. Plague; Father. Father; Plague. Father... He lowered his head, pale pink eyes watching the stallion. What was he going to do next? Always be on guard. Always pay attention. Always know where the attack is coming from. Always be something better than what you are. Taint.

His mouth drew up into a large sneer as the small colt struggled to get back on his hooves. The little b*****d was determined to not stay down, and he had to give him credit for that. Perhaps there was something to this colt he hadn't noticed before.

He watched the smaller creature draw back his wings and let out a snarl, and the mutant stepped forward, looming over the smaller being. Almost twice his size, he silently dared his offspring to continue with his noises.

"Your balance is horrible. No matter what direction I come from, if your back legs aren't steady and firm, there's no point to even trying."

He snorted, deciding in his head which direction he'd target the foal from next. In the corner of his eye, however, he spotted a small dark figure lurking, and his peripheral vision identified the creature as none other than the filly that took after him in appearance.

Ignoring the fact he was supposed to be lunging at his youngest, his head rose and he shook his head, his long dark mane sweeping alongside with his shakes.

"Tell me, Torment," he said, not even turning in the filly's direction, "What could have possibly been more interesting than watching your brother's failures and learning from it? Do you think you're ready to take me on yourself, and have no more need for lessons?"

He'd eventually left the thing called Spade alone to wander back toward his home. He wasn't in fear of what Father might do about him being gone. How was he suppose to learn if he only stuck around Father's legs? Only so much could be learned from there.

Shaking his head he heard his Father bellow something as he headed back into the small clearing. "There is nothing to learn from Taint ... other than how not to act." He grinned at his sibling as he fluffed his wings slightly.

"Father .... i have a question." He would probably get snarled at for interrupting but he thought his question was important and worth the snarling.

She froze, hearing her name addressed in the low voice of Father. Her ears flattened down instinctively, nervous and worried that now she was in for some trouble. She forced them back up, though, because she didn't want to give him any more reason to harass her.

"I..."

Her thoughts flew by.. what was she going to tell him? That she got bored and had wandered off? No, that would only anger him more. That she was trying to hunt? No... then he'd comment on how she came back with nothing. What was she going to tell him?

"I... was thirsty, Father." she finally said, raising her gray eyes to meet with his empty ones. "I went out for a drink."

She noticed in the corner of her vision a bright colored creature approaching the three of them, and she knew the only white creature that would dare to approach such a being as Plague could only be her brother Tarnish. He was reckless, she thought, with his careless attitude about Father's warnings. He did as he chose, and showed no fear towards Father. Jealously, she wished she could feel the same. She would have to try harder, and one day she too would earn her Father's respect.

He had planted his hind legs firmly this time; expecting the worst of the attacks. Father had to throw something better at him this time... Something to prove his ultimate failure for the day... Something to embarass him in front of Torment and Tarnish.

When the attack didn't come he rose his head, eyes watching his father cautiously even as he spoke to Torment. He would not let his father's distraction distract him. That would be a terrible mistake; one he would never forget doing, should he make it.

Tarnish, on the other hand, did distract him whereas Torment had not. His brother's behavior was so bold. Did he learn nothing from Father's actions? Was he not afr-- No, of course he wasn't. He wasn't intelligent enough to fear Father. There had to be something missing in that head of his... Something important.

Dark eyes merely wavered from between the two foals, as he contemplated further on what to do with his son. He had to learn to defend himself properly; a fight wasn't about simply attacking. If one couldn't defend himself and only relied on his attacking, he was foolish and bound to lose. So why was it taking this colt so damn long to learn such an easy lesson?

A burning brightness flared in his right eye as Tarnish drew closer. Why this one had to be cursed with his mother's whiteness, Plague could never figure out, for he was much better than his mother had proven to be as a foal herself. It was unfortunate for him; being white drew far too much attention rather than darker tones of skin.

His mouth opened to address Torment's excuse, or rather, lack therefore one, when the eldest colt called out a question. He didn't mind Tarnish wandering off, for he was no doubt perfecting what he learned in his lessons, but interrupting him was disrespectful, in his mind. Plague would have no issue putting Tarnish back in his place, favorite foal or not.

"Do you have something to add to the conversation, Tarnish, since you so eagerly must speak out?" He asked, his head finally turning to ignore the other two and stare down at the white colt.

"I am not stupid enough to interrupt you if i didn't." No. His siblings might have been that stupid but not him. Even if Father saw fit to punish him for it his question was worth it. At least in his mind.

"There is ... something missing from our lessons." He took a step closer but stayed well out of his Fathers present range. He'd already learned the value of making sure you had the advantage of distance.

"You tell us how horrible out mother is and yet ...." He tilted his head slightly and grinned at Father. "We've never had the pleasure of seeing it ourself." He wanted to -see- this mother thing so that he could know exactally how it was that she was inferior to Father. Plague had said on many occasions that the reason he had his name was because he resembled her yet with Fathers dark colors. The white foal had never taken anything less than the full extent of information he could get and to have a good handle on this he needed to see mother.

Torment snorted at her brother's comment, irritated by his haughty approach. Loveless had been right... boys were the lesser gender. Always tryin' to act the smartest. She'd show them.

The filly was relieved, however, that her father's attention had turned from her towards her younger brother. She'd rather the wrath of the mutant fall upon one of her other siblings than herself.

Pink hooves made their way closer towards her more feminine brother, and Torment stood alongside Taint as she listened to what Tarnish had to say. He had apparently grown more curious of the Her that Father always spoke of, and Torment couldn't deny that she as well wanted to finally meet this Mother that Father had spoken so little of. Loveless had implied so much hatred and loathe towards her own Mother creature, and Torment wanted to find out what made these Mothers so horrific.

"Stupid enough t'talk to Father like that though..." He snorted, lips curling into a smirk as he muttered beneath his breath. Tarnish always acted like he was so much better than they were. He wasn't. Tarnish wasn't anything special. Aparantly, he wasn't all that intelligent either. Idiot.

At least Father's wrath would fall upon Tarnish now... And not him. He was safe for the moment if only because his brother's brain wasn't as bright as his coat or the splash of pink on his black wings.

"But you are stupid enough to act cocky about it," Plague growled, forgetting about the other two as he turned and walked towards the colt, closing in the distance between the two of them. While he was the brightest and quickest to learn of the trio, he was also the most disrespectful, and Plague wouldn't allow for any disrespect. Not after his mistake with Diabetia. It was a constant need, to put the foal back in his place, much similar to the constant need to reteach the other two, who were slow in their lessons and learning. Much could go wrong with teaching Tarnish, if he wasn't careful.

The topic Tarnish brought up, however, replaced the urge for him to lunge at the colt. It was interesting for him to bring it up, when Plague thought of her almost daily, and her betrayal. He hadn't seen her in weeks, not since that fateful day when he saved the foals from inevitable deaths.

"You want to know about... your mother?" He asked, one eyebrow raised. His large wings had spread out, casting a looming shadow over the bright colored foal. "Why in the world would you beg me to meet her?"

He was only stupid enough because he -knew- without any uncertainty that his question would stop Father in his tracks. Just in case as the stallion had moved close he'd backed up himself. No use taking a chance even if he was certain. He had to keep himself from grinning with his question did in fact distract Father.

"I am not begging." No, he was telling Father that he would meet her. Father would take them he just had to make it seem like a better deal in Father's eyes.

"You teach us and you have told me of her failure. How are we to learn just what we are not to be unless we meet her?" Father spoke of her too often for them not to ask eventually, he should have seen it coming. He knew Father would take them eventually but he didn't want to wait that long.

Torment stared at her brother and father, watching the interaction between the two. She wanted to meet her as well, but would let Tarnish do all the talking. She knew it wasn't her place to interrupt, especially with the chance of Plague snapping at her, though he seemed too intrigued by what Tarnish asked to appear to care.

She stifled a chuckle at her youngest brother's comment. Though he was a pain in the a** for the most part, Taint did make some amusing remarks, especially when directed at either Tarnish or Father... when Father wasn't around, of course.

Hearing the noise that Torment made behind him he turned his head ever so slightly so that he was leaning closer to her. His words, although softly spoken, would have a better chance of reaching her ears alone at this distance. "... Bet you a rabbit he winds up with more bruises than you and I have combined for this." It would be worth seeing something like that; worth seeing Tarnish in pain for being so cocky. It was no secret that Father seemed to favor him... It was about time he got put in his place just as he and Torment had over and over again.

He heard the rustling of the foals behind them as they watched on, but continued ignoring their existence... for now. Instead, heartless eyes stared down at the white colt who spoke of a mare he had never formally met.

"You speak as though she were some weakling... something pathetic and useless, this Mother of yours." He finally remarked, dragging his cracked hooves around, circling the foal as he stood there. He was the teacher, and Tarnish the pupil. He would continue to remind the foal of that obvious lesson if he had to physically beat it into his smaller skull. "When in fact, your mother can be quite the monster, when she puts effort into it. I have half a mind to shove you at her, and see just how weak you think her to be. You can even tell her to her face, what you think of her, and let's see how you fair. Your tongue is bold enough, after all, if you can continue to interrupt as you do."

He paused in his walk, his mind elsewhere. Meet them.... hmm. Yes, they were still young, but Tarnish had a point there, as overconfident as he was. Perhaps meeting her would do some good to the foals. It would at least satisfy their curiosities and they'd return to concentrating on their lessons. Even become more motivated by the example, even. Yes... meeting their mother would make it quite interesting indeed. And poor Diabetia, she'd surely have missed their bright smiling faces, right?

Smirking, he let one hoof go carelessly sailing in the direction of the foal's side, a small price to pay for what Plague had found to be quite irritating.

"Learn your place." was all he said, as he turned around to face the others. He eyed the colt and filly, nodding his head.

"Come, Torment, Taint. Let us all go off to meet your Mother, as Tarnish has requested we do. Shall you two as well find her to be weak? Or perhaps, when we get there, each of you shall face her down and show her what you've learned in training?"

Without waiting for a response, the large mutant turned back and headed out of the grove, walking his slow pace into the direction of one of Diabetia's former hunting grounds. It may take them a while to find her, but he was sure he'd find her. He never failed.
