I suddenly feel like a proper WHO fan having just acquired 3 1978, 2 1979, a 1980 and one that doesn't say its year annuals! I am very happy.

The one that doesn't say a year is obviously the year that Tom Baker regenerated into (i can never remember his name) the next doctor as it's got both of them in. Anyone know what year that is??

I was reading a story in that annual and two things court my eye - a mention of a pocket watch then well (i wont go into details) the story ended like this 'Telling the computer that talking cats exist, isn't that cheating?' 'Cheating? Of course talking cats exist.' replied the Doctor 'In the imagination.'. Do you think that RTD and the rest of them as well as using old monsters, take their ideas directly from the old books and mechandise??

Something ealse I would like to know, does anyone have any idea about how much these annuals are worth? 'Cos I have to sell them (gasp! gonk ).

Tom Baker regenerated into Peter Davison at the end of the story Logopolis (original TX date 21 March 1981). Hope that helps!

Oh. WOW.

I think it's completely possible that they could have scanned some of the (more popular) episodes/regenerations and found random mentions of other unknown alien beings to use in the new series. That's awesome!

Or, they didn't check to see if they'd already done it.
What's that quote about history being doomed to repeat itself?

Haha, but I think mine might have made a teeny bit more sense. I don't think that talking cats would have come up twice randomly without looking. Plus it would be a nice reference to the original series.

Never underestimate the human race's ability to think that talking cats are a good idea.

Besides, remember that RTD is an old fan himself. He may OWN those Annuals & have been consciously or subconsciously influenced by the memory of them.

I thought it was '81 but since I wasn't alive then I wasn't sure.

There's something slightly weird about having made this thread today - the day they show an episode where they took a story from the '05 annual but just made it a bit cooler.

Yes. It's funny to think they might have had a subconscious effect on him.

It's still cool!

Oh, anybody notice that new button on the top right of any main guild page?
"Recommend this Guild".. what's that about?

Read the bottom of the latest announcement, it explains it better than I can.
Can't exactly see the point of it, but oh well.

Neither was I! I was born three hours after Episode One of Warriors Of The Deep was TXed for the first time. Check the website...
