Why is it that so many people hate Richard? I mean, I may not be completely caught up, but I'm on Obsidian Butterfly, and I really adore him. He has a lot of tough s**t in his life and may be emo, but he has a right to be! And he cares for Anita so much.
Do you all think he's really such a horrible character?? gonk

I heart Richard and I'm read the lastest book.The one problem is accepting himself.If he could do that more pple would like him.But really Richard is sweet and he started out as a great character.When he isn't acting like an a*****e he's great.Just need to fix his problem.

Vampire Alice I love Richard, and I hope one day he'll balance himself out. It's all Anita's fault. She should die. Then everyone will either be happy or at peace in some way. How can you hate the main character? She's trying her best, and she really did try to accept Richard, it isn't her fault that she couldn't handle his beast. And they tried too give him a chance to be welcomed into the group. Richards an a**, but one of these days, he'll change. Laurell just has to get past her sex drive first.

How can it be all Anita's fault? As I do recall, Richard dumped her at one time for being more at home with the monsters. And that's her fault? No no. Yes, Richard started out as a good character, but at the point he's at now, he's just really annoying and stressful. And dear, if Anita died there would be no more Richard. xP

i reeeaaaallly dont want to give a way what happens in Harlequin so hmmm... Richard is an a** if you arent pristine with the white picket fence and no skeletons in the closet he will never respect you. No one can live up to that standard not even himself. He needs to get off his high horse before he kills everyone, I really wish there was a way to remove him from the triumvirate and bring in someone else cause yeah hes powerful but he s**t has almost killed them numerous times.

i go hot and cold with richard simply because he has his stellar moments but tends to ruin them by being an a**. i think thats just the way he is, like anita, he pokes at good things

Ehhh, I liked Richard and I DO blame Anita for the way he is now. Once you reach a few books after Obsidian you might be able to understand.

For my part, there is no hating... I just don't like him all that much. He is a were, boo-hoo, he needs to deal with it. Even Anita is coming to except herself faster than he is. And that is just SCARY.
...Though he is really hot. I'm waiting for L.K.H. to do a real three some with him-naita-JeanClaude... *drools* lol

Hokay. I just finished Narcissus in Chains. I get what you guys mean. He's obnoxious.. but at the same time, I really sympathize with him. I can't help but love him, you know? He just can't ever be more than friends with Anita.
But seriously, his feelings are perfectly understandable!

As a good friend said to me one time after breaking up with someone-"You just can't date someone less mature than you". If you've read enough about Richard and know about his hang ups I'd say it's pretty self explanatory.

In the Harlequin it's weird... But at least you can say by the end that you can't entirely blame Anita for all his hangups. It's nearly all him.
It's just a shame that he starts off almost likeable in this book..
