"One fish....two fish...."
Twilight stood in the good sized stream which wound its way through the woods, the chilled waters which must have been brought down from the mountians caused some of his fur to stand up on end along his spine. Shaking slightly as his ivory with turqois tipped locks curled around his neck before being tossed to the other side. It was impossibe to see his reflection in the running wanters, yet he did enjoy watching the fish as they migrated upstream.
They seemed not to mind the stallion's presence in the waters, his legs providing a bit of a disturbance to the current as often a fish of two would pause under his body before continuing on in their grand journey upstream.
It truely was a beautiful place, as he let out a curt sigh in delight. The willows hung over the brook ahead, the warm breeze sweeping through this small spot of paradise every so often. Shifting his eyes back down to the stream, he looked a bit perplexed when the fish he had been watching vanished. A glance upstream was given but it wasn't there either.
"How odd..."
Yet sadly, he didn't pay mind to his tail which floated and flicked along under the current's command untill said fish snapped onto the hairs and began to thrash around in the water. Yelping as he began to make a ruckus to try and get the offending creature off, he was well aware how foolish he must have looked at this moment.

Cosette had been around water before. But if one were to have seen her now, they would assume she had eben confined all her life to some dry, barren waste land. Long legs were brought dow excitedly in the stream, water splashing everywhere. She wasn't trying to harm the fish attempting to make their way upstream, the white and blue painted mare was just having fun scaring the poor aquatic creatures.
Stopping breifly, Cosette's sharp red eyes were focused on a group of fish, and she did what any other silly mare would have done (okay, maybe just her): She pushed her nose through the surface of the water, nudging the fish forward. She pushed it as much as she could, trying to kep her nose against it's tail before it picked up speed and swam faster away from her. She inhaled, but was quick to yank her face from the water to snort out the liquid trapped in her nostrils.
Shaking her head, she began to giggle, but stopped when she heard a yelp. Her she stopped shaking her head to look farher up stream, and saw the rather foolish sight. Her face scrunched up a bit, and the mare began to laugh out loud.
"Fishies like to eat hair?" She iqnuired a loud, not necessarily for the stallion ahead to hear. It was more of rhetorical question.

For the love of....it must have thought it was some sort of waterbug!
Thrashing around till Twilight gave a strong flick to his tail, the fish smacked against the water before quickly swimming off ahead upstream. With his body covered in an array of water droplets which stuck to his white locks, he sent a particularily menacing look to the rude fish. Although he supposed if he was having to swin upstream all day against the current, he too would have taken a chance at a bug if it arrived.
Something else quickly diverted his attention, a laugher.....
Oh no.
Not again.
With a roll of his eyes, he turned halfway around to spot yet another mare - this one of white and blue...rather arctic looking if you asked him. Why was it he was somehow always (okay, well only twice before) making an idiot of himself infront of girls? He'd heard the story of stallions going mental over the mares, yet he'd not even seen them when the embarassment happened! Catching the last bit of her question, he pieced together that 'eat hair' must have gone along with the fish.
"Apparently....I'd watch yourself if I were you, Miss." A soft grin tucked at the corner of his lips, taking careful not that her tail was infact just long enough to graze the water surface - although not as long as his.

The thought that the stallion up ahead had been embarressed never crossed the rather snowy mare's mind once. Cosette had thought of him to be fooling around at first, even though yelping was not exactly associated with fun. Dismissing the thought, the word that she heard made her sharp eyes turn to her tail.
"Oh, righto..." The arctic-like figure said in an afiirming tone as she took a look at her tail. The longest tips of her tail were slightly skimming the top of the water, and the image of the Soquili up ahead thrashing around now dawned to her it probably wouldn't be all too pleasant to get her tail bitten by a fish. Cosette attempted to lift her rear a bit and let it swing from side to side, hoping to avoid a similar situation.
However, despite making this "safety precaution", she turned back to offer a goofy grin, and began to continue her walk up the stream... A bit obnoxiously if one would say. She made sure to make a splash everytime a pure white hoof hit the water, scaring away fish behind it or way ahead of it. She watched for a few seconds before raising her eyes and attention to the multi-colored stallion ahead. She took note of how long his was, but she made sure not to gawk.
"Sure it's safe to stay in the waters with such long hair?" She raised her attention from his locks, tilting her head. A grin was playing at her lips. She wasn't trying to embarress the poor lad. It was jus in her playful nature to well, fool around.

Tilting his ears back a bit as the splashing stomps of the mare edged closer and closer, he noticed the scattering fish and figured maybe he would be a tad bit more safe now. Yet as she trailed closer, he took a moment to really eye her markings. It oh so reminded him of his adventures in the snow barren mountians, and caught sight of the tiny heart nearly missed amongst the blue tribalistic swirls.
Tearing his eyes away to meet her own once she was in close enough range to have noticed a stare or two. Luckily, Twilight was blessed with an ebony pelt, and thus his blush went completely unnoticed. However, his smile remained strong as a deep chuckle rose from his lips, his head giving a small shake.
"'Aye, perhaps. Yet with all that splashing I think i'll be safe for the time being."
He teased light heartedly, her eyes were a quite striking red - much different from the more...natural looking hues he'd seen previously. Grinning once more to match hers, he gave a gentle rumble of his throat before speaking.
"So, Fish frightener.....my name is Twilight, may I inquire as to yours?"

"Twilight? My now, that fits you, doesn't it?" She inquired, looking to his dark coat and how it faded to lighter hues of blue on his legs. "All that is missing are some stars!" She laughed a bit at her own comment, but stopped abruptly to clear her throat. Hopefully it didn't sound like she was teasing his coat or anything. She lowered her head breifly and gave Twilight an apologizing look, but a silly smile reminiscent on her face.
"But uh, as for my name..." Lifting her head, she flipped her white locks with a jerk of her head. She flashed a genuine smile and not a goofy grin, "This fish freaker is Cosette!" Cosette proclaimed, pretending to bow as she lifted one hoof and bowed her head before readily bouncing back up to her previous position.

Well....it did fit. Perhaps it had been the storm which rolled in just before his basket was opened, although he didn't really feel he had the attitude of one - just the appearence. Looking a bit puzzed from her sorry look, finding nothing wrong as his head gave a breif shake. Oh no, he had a better idea, as he gave a soft whinny and closed the distance between them to look her straight in her ruby orbs; fluttering his eyes.
"Missing? No no....couldn't you tell? My eyes are like stars!"
Unable to help himself, he laughed merrily, tossing his head back as his long locks drifted around his shoulders. Feeling warmed by her smile, he dipped his head too although minded that his hair didn't sink back into the water.
"You have a pretty name, Cosette. Its a pleasure to meet you!"
Beaming, he turned his body slightly and looked upstream as an idea formed in his mind. "Care to perhaps go and see where the fish are heading?" He inquired, lifting his hoof out of the water and thought for a moment....just before a grin snuck back onto his lips. Brining his leg down swiftly, he made a loud splash, and then another...and another as her trudged upstream. Hey, he wasn't hurting anything....so what was a little mischeif once and a while?
"So where do you come from, Cosette?"
Twilight called back, pausing for only a moment to glance back at her to see if she was indeed going to come with him.

When he closed the distance and began to bat his eyes, she at first thought he was going a bit looney. BUt then he brought up his eyes, and she gasped. Though they were dark, they did twinkle. "Ohhh, you're right! They're pretty and twinkling like stars," she agreed. He seemed so embarressed when she had laid eyes on him making a ruckus, but he turned to be quite the goof.
She opened her mouth to laugh along, but halted when he had called her name pretty. Cosette tilted her head once more, before a wide smile brekaing out on her face, a giggle emitting from her throat, "Thanks Twlight! It's a great pleasure to meet you too." She chirped. The acrtic mare was not accustomed to having her name complimented. She had received compliments here and there about her physical appearance (the occasional "how weird!" for her eyes), but a name? Well, names were special, she supposed. They were what stuck in the mind's of others when the images fade, right?
Glancing ahead at the mentioning of fish, her attention stayed on the stallion. She knew fish swam upstream, but where were they swmming too? Swimming against that current all day must be tough! So why not admire it? Cosette baced up a bit when he began to splash along upstream, and a laugh once again left her mouth.
"I'm coming~!" She followed after him, splashing a bit less to make sure she could at least walk half-way side by side in the stream. The idea of talking to a rump wasn't so pleasant, even if his tail was really interesting to look at.
The next question however, through her off. Where I come from? Hmmm... She stopped splashing for a moment, eyes looking up as she thought about it, "I know I'm not from here, and I remember walking through the mountain trails... My memory of my exact home is very fuzzy. But that should clear up soon!" She gave a light jump to splash down hard in an attempt to dismissthe feelings of homesickness for the place she couldn't remember well.
"And you're from here?"

Oh he had been very embarassed. Normally Twilight didn't mind being a bit of a goof, his ever so curious and often child like behaviour which struck out from time to time thanks to his lack of a childhood was no problem at all! It was when he wasn't planning on being a weirdo was when he regretably got flustered and red cheeked.
Twilight had never been much of a fish soquili, their little eyes creeped him out a bit. That a spiders....mostly because the ungreatful little wretches usually bit him when he tried to assist them so he gave up on that species rather early on. Smiling tenderly as she caught up, he looked back on ahead and began walking as this time he decided to walk normally without splashing too much.
Yet something seemed to set off the stallion.
"I knew it!"
He exclaimed in almost a sense of glee, looking to Cosette with a small jump of delight. "I'd been to the mountians before...you look like a few of the soquili there with the nice white coats!" Oh how pleasant it was to find someone who wasn't from around here...even if she couldn't really remember. "It was ever so beautiful up there...I plan to return after visiting my family." He admitted, out of all the places he'd traveled, the mountians with the nothern lights had been his favorite by far.
Biting his lip lightly, he gave a small chuckle. "Kind of. I was born a little ways from here at the edge of the woods....yet since my Father and sister never liked me wandering off and wanted me to settle at the teepee...I ran away when I was young. I wanted to see the world...so I did and kinda grew up in the process...I'm just back to say i'm sorry and all, but these lands just don't settle my restless soul I suppose."
He gave a short shrug, it was true, as much as he loved his remaining family members...life and adventure called. He was very much a free spirit...unable to be happy with an ordinary life attached to one specific area.

Cosette halted fully when he had exclaimed his knowing of her origin. It was more the sudden movement that told her to lock up breifly, but she ame back to her sense and smiled when he brought up going to the mountains. She was quick to meet his stride once more. So Soquili up in the mountains had pure coats too? Mmm, it made sense she concluded. Her memory fogged up on the details of that place called home.
At the words of returning, she giggled lightly and tossed her head a bit, "Hey, if you do, maybe I can tag a long!" She teased. She doubted it would be taken seriously, as they had just met, but hey, going back up to the mountains to visit her home didn't sound too bad. Cosette just didn't want to make any trip up there alone. The arctic mare was a very friendly one, and was not fond of making journeys alone.
Her face fell for a moment, watching him out of the corner of her eyes as she made sure not to step on any fish in the stream now that she was wlaking at a calmer pace, "Ran away huh? Weren't you lonely?" She inquired, extremely curious. Nomads always came off as a different species. To just venture off alone... Maybe Cosette was just envious.
"But," she started again, "That's nice you at last considered to come back to say sorry. If I had a foal who decided to walk off, I'd tail him or her and herd them back home!" She kidded, to lighten the mood even if it wasn't all that heavy.
Her eyes focused back on the water, "Mmm, fishies swim upstream, but to where? A lake?"

Perking his ears up slightly, he had heard her sudden hault mid step as the rocks under their hooves no longer creaked and shifted under their dual weights. About to turn back and ask what was the matter, she had suddenly strode right back up to his side. How strange....
Assured by her faint giggle, Twilight smiled and glanced over to the arctic mare as he kept his pace calm and leisurely. They wern't in any real rush anyways to find out where the fish were heading on their journey. "You're more than welcome to." He didn't exactly pick up on the teasing element, it seemed a simple request....it was logical that he knew the way, and if her memory was foggy then a bit of a guide seemed better than going at it alone.
Chuckling weakly, his own eyes looked down to the water....it seemed not long ago he was staring into the determined face of his colt like self. Yet he'd changed...a full stallion, and seeing his face he knew it was as if he held a map of the world in those very orbs. "A bit....not at first. It was quite a rush. Yet as the days turned into weeks...and the blizzards, sandstorms and other bad things happened...I got lonely and scared. Yet it was a bit too late to turn around." In truth, he'd almost died at one point....he'd owed his life to a mountian goat who took pitty on him in his first blizzard when he got stuck outside in the weather. Yet Cosette was right....and he nodded his head with a smile gracing his lips.
"Yeah...As much as we're different in our views...family is family." Lifting his head back up, he gave a small neigh of delight to see a fish streak by them...it seemed they were getting a bit closer. "I'm sure you would...yet with my Mother and Brother leaving off to who knows where...my dad Had to take care of my sister an' I....and i'm glad that he chose to stay with her; she really needed him more than I."
Thinking a moment, Twilight cocked his head to the side and gave a little 'huff of a sigh. "You know...I don't know where. That seems logical..."

The dark-colored stallion's answer about traveling made her mouth drop a bit. However, it quickly changed to a comforted smile, tossing her head back to knock away white strands of her mane. Even though he hadn't been audibly observant to the teasing undertones, it was rather nice he had replied in a normal and polite manner and not in an obnoxious one typical of a reply to a tease.
At the quick-swimming fish, a light laugh escaped her throat as she craned her neck to watch it flit away from her vision. She ket her eyes forward, her gaze soft, "Y'know, usually runaways come off as the type who'd rather not associate with their family. You just break that mold, don't you Twilight?" She beamed at him, lifting her neck so she wasn't creening it too far out and away from eye-contact.
She looked behind them, her eyes skimming the water for any fish. They had to be getting closer, but she doubted that where the fishies were going was all that close. Besides, talking and walking was a lot more fun than just standing. She wasn't on to stand around; Too much energy build-up for her liking.
A thought hit her, and she turned her head sharply to look at him, "When you ran away, did you leave friends behind here?" Her ears picked up, watching. "Or did you make them on your travels?" Cosette was curious one, but she didn't mean to sound intrusive. She just wanted to know... Because if she had any friends before coming to this region, she couldn't call on their faces or names.

"They do?"
Raising his brows, he shot her an odd look, he wasn't aware that runaways did to actually get away from their families since they didn't like them. He simply answered the calls the wind told him, those gentle whispers driving the colt to follow them wherever they took him. Sure, those same whispers were still enticing and ushering sweet words into his ears; yet he wouldn't succumb just yet. He had buisness to see to and wouldn't be leaving till it was complete.
"You know...I don't think I had a mold to begin with, let alone trying to fit into someone else's. I'm a bit big and awkward now anyways!" Chuckling softly, wether his eyes gave a glitter of his previous star comment or to the glimmering sunlight reflecting off the water; he'd never be sure.
However, her next question seemed to catch him completely offguard as his demeanor faultered a bit as he bit his lip. He didn't feel embarassed to talk about it, but it did bring to his attention that he really didn't have a lot to relate to with the normal soquili around here. Most of which lived their entire lives in one spot with a vast ammount of friends and loved ones. Looking peacefully at the water as the fish which slowed along the equally slowing current, he finally spoke up after a moment of two of silence.
"I suppose I was a bit lucky, I'd never made any friends before I left. Asides from staying near the teepee, I guess I was too busy saving anything I could from imaginary peril. Usually just bugs or other tiny creatures from being stepped on. Father had a hay day trying to find me all the time." Musing gentle, he tossed his head back and walked a bit closer to Cosette as he brushed against her to avoid hitting a fish with his hooves. "I made one on my travels, a wise old stallion, yet he passed on during one of the blizzards in my mountian stay." He shrugged, although at the time he'd been devastated; time made him realize that it was a fate of life which everyone had to go through. Some just erlier than others.
"Anyways..." He didn't mean to be so abrupt to change the subject, yet he did have one question which was picking at his mind. "You don't remember where you're from? Don't you have anyone who could remind you?"
Yet something else seemed to catch his eye as he looked up, seeing the small plateau ahead in which the water became a small waterfall - and as a few fish leaped up into the placid waters above he grinned excitedly. "Cosette! It is a lake.....c'mon!" Twilight nipped at her shoulder lightly before taking off in a slightly impared gallop up the stream, looking more like a deer with his leaps and bounds to trek through the current. Heading a head, he took note of all the fish just below the small waterfall which was only about chest height for the stallion. "Excuse me!" He laughed at the fish before leaping up over the falls and into the partially shallow part of the lake. The water made a mighty slpash, overflowing the tiny falls for a moment before he wadded forewards to give Cosette room to follow.
Looking back around, he smiled. "The water's pretty nice up here! No wonder the fish were traveling so hard."

((Your RAZR went through the wash? So did my sisters. Take the battery out and let it dry on a hard surface for a few days. A week should do, and when it's back in the phone your phone may act a bit funny for a while such as turning on slowly and what not, but it shouldwork. Hope this helps!))
Cosette was vary aware of the silence that followed after her question, and she immediatly felt guilt for asking.
"Aww, isn't that cute," Crooned Cosette as she felt the stallion beside her step to the side and against her to avoid a fish. As it scurried away, she craned her neck forward to watch it, not exactly minding the closer contact. So he was the defender of little creatures? She held back a giggle as she pulled herself back up to her normal walking stance, eyes back on Twilight. Her eyes softened as her face fell at the death of the wise old stallion. She would ay she was sorry, but he at the moment didn't look horribly saddened. She doubted he had been so casual about it when it had happened, but there was no reason to apologize for a death, right?
When the questions were turned to her, Cosette's face blanked for a moment before scrunching up in thought. She had to come from some place cold; These lands were uncomfortably warm at times even though she adpated well to the new enviroment. So she had to come from the mountains... That was the only place she could really think of. Cosette cursed her fuzzy memory, "I'm supposing I had a home in the mountains. Y'know, living with kin, but... As for reminders... Umm..." She trailed off and on, straining her memory, but all she got her fuzzy little bits.
The n** at her shoulder brought her from her thoughts, the mare blinkng hard a few times before realizing what he had just said. "Hey, I'm coming!" She laughed, following with a rather awkward run in the thin stream, trying hard to not step on anything alive in th water. Woah, there were a lot of fish! The thought registered breifly as she saw a couple leap here and there over... She picked up very little speed to get herself over the little waterfall. Her hooves hit the shallow water with a big splash, but nothing comparable to the stallions.
Giggling was all that left Cosette's vocal chords as she shook her head to release water drops from her ears and mane. When she stopped she lowered her head to the water and stared at a fish, but was caught looking at her own reflection, "Yeah!" The arctic mare agreed, "It's so clear too!" She turned to look at him, flashing a cheesy grin, "But maybe a tad boring..."
And with that, the mare reared up and crashed her hooves down in an empty spot in front of ehr, sure to splash her fellow traveler.

[It does! Man, talk about odd that things repeat itself for different people! Actually, there is some life in it now. Not to the point it turns on...but its looking good! x3 Thanks for the advice!]
Looking back attentively as Cosette too showed some inability like he to run up the stream and dodge fish on the way, Twilight couldn't help but chuckle at the sight. He'd heard the stories of soquili who lived underwater, how could they move through it so easily....he doubted his curiosity would be answered anytime soon. When the arctic mare leaped into the water with a splash of her own, the stallion took a step back to avoid the waves.
"The lake must have some sort of stream running down from the mountians, or else it wouldn't be so clear."
He added in a bit of factly mannor, cocking his head and looking down to his own reflection. Certianly he had grown from the last time he looked at himself, even though he could feel the changes, he'd never taken the time to look upon them. His surroundings were no longer big and breathtaking, but small and conquorable. It was easy to tell he'd been a nomad for quite some time, his body fit as can be from the constant running and strain of the sloped terrains. He couldn't imagine what he'd look like if he lived down here on the flat and comfortable lowlands. Perhaps a bit bigger and plump? He chuckled, oh how horrible that would be!
Blinking as he caught onto her last words, he cocked his head and turned to question Cosette on how such a nice place could be boring - yet before he knew what hit him, a wave of water spalshed up into his face as he closed his eyes tight and felt his locks soak up the water.
Spitting out a bit since his mouth had been partially open, he opened his eyes and huffed, although lightheartedly. "Well I never." He couldn't help the grin which curled on his lips even though he was trying to act offended. Tossing his head back to get his wet locks out of his eyes, his wet hair ended up flinging around, curling on his neck and chin before smacking him on the cheek as it was long enough to even curl over his head. Stumbling to the side lightly as he let out a bit of a groan to being assaulted by his own hair, he blinked and realized how foolish he must look with a hood of his own hair.
"Ohhhh, so its fun you want? Lets see how you enjoy it..." Grinning and backing up slowly at the same time, Twilight dashed forewards and leaped out into the deeper water, tucking his legs back as he let his body smack against the water to tidal wave Cosette. Coming up with a sputter, he looked back to shore and the mare while swimming out into the deeper section of the lake.
He had felt a pang of sadness that Cosette couldn't remember much of her past in the mountians, nor the Soquili who used to be in her life. Yet he figured, untill she could see clearly and remember...why not make new memories to fill the void for the time being? She was awfully cheery despite the circumstances, and Twilight was indeed impressed. He was happy to be able to provide at least some sort of amusing memories for the arctic mare...even if it demolished his 'manly' demeanor. At least his hair wasn't sticking to his face anymore, as it fell and floated atop of the water as he swam.
