So they were back in the Pridelands, he and Siku. Or, they were almost back. For Kijibwa, though, it was just about the same whether or not they hesitated by the borders before actually stepping on in to see Siku's family. Not to mention he has his own reservations, considering he had taken his mate away from her family when she was just a juvenile and now that he had his own daughters he knew just how upset he might be if someone did such a thing with his girls. He could only imagine how he might be welcomed, but he would never regret the decision he'd made for he'd never been as happy as he was with his mate, and with his family.

It was in the evening, a couple weeks after their initial arrival in the Pridelands, and Kijibwa was sitting in the tall grass staring out at the familiar form of Priderock and thinking back on the lions he'd met here. The one who stuck out most in his mind was Kiburi, who had been the one to encourage his explorations farther into the Pridelands. He wondered what had happened to her, and if he might find her around here. He remembered a cub who had been eager to join the Pride here, and wondered if she might be somewhere around here as well. He remembered the red lioness who had been less than welcoming, the one who had drove him away for a couple weeks- would she still be around here?

It had been after dark and the little godling had become tired of being part of such a large group (That is, large in his personal psyche, he had been used to being a solitary form, hunt for himself, swim by himself.. and at times, talk to himself..) and skipped out to enough the rest of the night by himself for once; which, as he found out the hard way, wasn't as easy as he had assumed it would be when he started the trek with the.. um.. what was that word.. fam-ee-lee.

Pawing through the high grasses, his sharp mixmatched eyes watched the outskirts for any activity, hoping to find a small creature to prey and follow for a time, to take his mind off everything and just enjoy his outerworldly self. The familiar jingle-jangle of jewelry and the feeling of air between his feathers made it all the more worth it during this time, as the night brought him almost back to life once more (although, in all honesty, he had given up trying to hide from such a wonderful group of individuals in the end, anyways.)

Turning his head to peer around, he caught the sight of another form in the grasses, and, with more inspection he found it to be the lord of this little entourage, the large male that all the other group members had called such a peculiar word, which normally slipped from his mind. Hoping he didn't mind such an intrusion, Jamala creeped closer, ears lowered and eyes full of curiousity and maybe some meekness, he finally called out into the night.

"Fair evening, is it not.. um.. K-Kijibwa?" He asked tenderly.

Kiji was pondering his former acquaintances quietly, and as usual he didn't pay much attention to his surroundings. Fortunately the tone of voice that Jamala used was not exactly something to cause fear, so his reaction was merely a flick of his ears and a turned head. At first, the lion had been suspicious of letting a stranger come along with them- though mainly because it was his daughter who'd brought him along. His private concerns had been eased when the god's true form had been revealed, though Kijibwa couldn't entirely explain why that was.

"It is," he agreed, looking back to Pride Rock and then to the darkening sky, "It's been awhile since I've seen this kind of landscape, or that much of the sky all at once."

AS if he had been cued to do so, Jamala couldn't help but peer up before himself and the dark lord before him, his eyes soaking up the dark sky, stars sparkling as soft jemstones, such as that of theones that adorned his heavenly body, and he couldn't help but smile, and finally relax infront of the other to an extent.

Deep down he knew that this male had a deep swelling loyalty and pride of his closest friend and those around him, but he hadn't truthfully understood it, not since he was (barely!) allowed to travel alongside such a closenit commune of creatures. Sitting stiffly where he had stopped his travel, he nodded to the sky. "It is rather wonderful; I never noticed how different it looked from the savannah or the jungle... almost as if it's opening itself up to you." he stated, before looking to the other once more, questions plaguing him, sitting on his tongue. "You have been here before, haven't you? I heard Ekevu talking about that when we started off.."

Kiji continued to admire the sky, nodding along as Jamala put words to the sight before them. He supposed it must be interesting to have the sky all around you, as only birds and gods might experience. Surely it was not unusual for their guest, who had wings, to see more of the sky but notice less about it- from a ground perspective at least. He liked the description of the sky as opening up, it was very poetic, in a way. His attention was torn away from the heavens back to earth as he was questioned.

"Yes, this is where Siku and I met," he glanced out towards the Pridelands, and then back to the god, "It seems like it's been a long time, but we liked it in the Jungle. Have you been here before?"
PostPosted: Fri Jun 08, 2007 9:10 pm

"Seems like a wonderful place to meet someone.." he stated idly as he looked over the area once more before turning his attention to the other, his ears and wings had perked higher than normal, as if he were expecting a great tale, or something. A slightly still cubbish thing he had done, but it suited him, he found.

"N-No, never here, this is actually my first time being around here.. I've been to other places, before.. Always very forested.. except the savannah, but that was very.. barren if you would." he opened up with, the sincerity of the answer showed that he had been places, and seen things, but only as a cub, and thus hadn't drank it all in quite yet. Frowning at Kiji's answer for a moment, he turned from him once, looking at the beautiful area around him, before turning to the other once more. "But how come you chose the jungle, over such a bountyful land.. there must have been something there that made you stay."

Kijibwa smiled inwardly at the mention of it being a wonderful place to meet someone, and glanced over his shoulder to the area they were currently inhabiting until they decided to move on. It was a lovely place, and a popular place for families- he expected that was part of why he'd met Siku here, her family liked it.

"When I was a cub, someone brought me to the Jungle. It's where I grew up," he explained with a shrug, looking back to Jamala, "When I met Siku, she wanted to leave, she wanted to see the world outside of the Pridelands. I offered to take her to the Jungle."

Ah, this whole day seemed to be turning into a stroll down memory lane. He remembered Siku, wide-eyed and stammering, asking him about the Jungle, saying she couldn't fend for herself if she wanted to leave the Pridelands. It really did seem like so long ago.

This answer intrigued the smaller god, as he turned his head to the side, almost in a quizzical face, almost if he had been given a difficult question to mull over. After a moment, he finally had decided what to say in the end, his slightly gruff, not so celestial voice breaking the silence once again.

"Does that mean that you, also, came to this world alone? I've yet to meet anyone outside of the realm of my sister and I who has.." It had been an honest question, as his mismatched eyes scanned over the larger male who, at times, was difficult at times to pinpoint; for his fur was also dark as night and he had stayed so still in the grasses. "I wasn't raised, probably found as a cub, but I cannot remember ever being in such a large group, prior to this."

Kijibwa was a bit surprised by the question that was asked of him. He'd never really considered that the god might not have parents, or some other certain way of being here as most mortals were sure to have. The question easily recalled a memory that Kiji had remembered just earlier that same night, his conversation with Kiburi and how he must have a family somewhere out there. At the time, all he'd known about cubs was that they came from lions who love each other- and now that he had his own he knew a little more about it.

"I don't remember anything before Amoret found me in the desert," he said with a shrug, "All I remember is being very hungry and tired, and then her saving me. For all I could tell you, I was alone. Another friend, one I met here, said I had to have a family somewhere out there. I'm not sure non-gods can come to be any way other than being born.."

The dark lion was naive, and not necessarily the smartest of creatures, but he'd always really figured that he couldn't have just popped out of the sand (though his memory left only that option).

Bejeweled ears swivelled to and fro while he heard the explaination of the past that the larger dark brute had been kind enough to let him know of. Deep down inside he felt a general sense of kindness within the other, something he had caight wind of early in the travels - and it made him feel good. He always felt the best when he was travelling near, or now apparently with, anyone who felt as strongly as virtues as he did. Whether they knew it or not.

With a smile on his maw, he looked down towards his simularily bejeweled paws, nodding to himself and Kijibwa, devouring the information like a cub after a full day of play. "Yeah, It does sound rather irrational to assume those who are bound to the circle of life indefinitally would find a way in through other means.." he stated to himself mainly, before looking up to Kijibwa. "Most of those I have met, have always talked about their parents, blood or otherwise. I wish I knew exactly what those were though - I never had any myself, as I said before. You're a parent-creature, right?" he stated, with a slightly more childish tilt of his head than he had hope for.

Maybe he would finally learn about the mysticalisms of whatever this 'parenthood' had been. Watching the 'family' that he had followed from the jungle, he could only assume it was something to be cherished.

Kijibwa was very simple, and though he watched Jamala and listened carefully, he wasn't entirely certain he followed the god's first statement. Fortunately, the topic went back to something much easier to understand- parents. He'd already described how he didn't know of his, but there were still his own children. His girls.

"I am a parent, you know that," he said with a smile, surely Ekevu had mentioned that he and Siku were her parents. He was almost certain of it, "What- what do you want to know about it?" Kijibwa managed to ask something reasonably polite, his paternal side (one of his more... intelligent sides) taking over.

Should have seen that one coming. A frown replaced the smile on the maw of the younger godling as he looked at a rock on the groud, before answering the question with sincerity and truth twined within, if he was going to crash and burn about some topic in life, this had better been the one. He really wasn't good about parents.

"Really, not much. I've only heard things from other lions and lionesses. And the odd other creature. As far as I could tell, it's like.." he trailed, "You are.. like a sibling. But older.. you came before them. Like. You're like a guardian, but instead of finding your children, they're genetically related to you." he finished, proud of remembering what he could of it. "To be honest, you're the first 'father' I've met face to face since I was put on this world."

Kijibwa smiled regretfully as Jamala looked at the ground, he hadn't meant to make him feel so bad about it- but he was more than willing to do his best to answer whatever questions he had. The only sad part of the situation was that Kijibwa was not always the best with words- and as for being a father, he hadn't known how it happened until he met a pregnant klipspringer that told him. Shortly after that meeting, he and Siku realized they would have cubs.

This was not a tale Kiji would readily admit to his girls, let alone to the god travelling with them.

"Siblings are generally genetically related too," he replied with a shrug, that much was something he knew about. Adoption was not a foreign concept, he felt quite strongly attached to the lioness who had saved him from the desert as a cub. He didn't know his real mother, but to him, Amoret was as good as his mother.

"You don't have to be genetically related to be a father, though that is usually part of it," Kiji said carefully, not sure how to ellaborate on what Jamala had said. The god seemed to have a good general idea, "Guardian is a good description, you watch out for your cubs, keep them safe and happy.." So far, Kiji had only really agreed with what had been said instead of offering any information- other than about adoptive family.

"Hunh..." broke a short silence that came after the words from the father hit the night air. It was a proclaimation of intense thinking, instead of a befuddled query, and with a fold of his be-jewelled ears, he gave a curt nod, before continuing with the trek that Kijibwa had went with. "Yeah, I have my one sister, bound by blood. We weren't.. um, 'born', but we were created.. and made. We're twins, so we're definitally 'genetically' related" he answered, it was almost as if he was trying to tell himself this is how it is.

"It must be nice to know someone since you were born though. I'm sure Kev is very happy to know she has such a nice family. It makes me think a lot when I'm with you guys - being someone who was raised by himself - only vaguely aware of a sibling - but rarely seeing her." Most of this conversation felt like as if he was trying to reassure himself.. but he truely felt more in awe and respective of Kijibwa, after seeing the father in a light that he normally set for those higher than him.

A parent creature, to him, was greater than a god.

Kiji stared blankly at Jamala as he explained how he and his twin sister were not born, but created. The lion was never a good actor, but he didn't even bother wanting to try to hide that he didn't quite understand how that could be. He supposed it was just something not to be questioned but accepted, and that was certainly something very natural for the naive and happy lion.

The lion couldn't even quite agree from experience with the idea of knowing someone from the very beginning, since he didn't have that pleasure. However, when the god complimented the family he beamed proudly.

"Like I said, I never had a family when I was growing up. I didn't even have a sibling, I never had a family until I met Siku," he described his situation again, "It's not quite the same as you, but.." Kiji shook his head, deciding to go off that particular part of the topic.

"You don't need to be born, or remember your parents, to have a family. You're a part of our family."
