Okay i havent started a thread here in a while which is wierd cuz i'm the Guild leader....
Has anyone heard of or heard the infamous Buddy Rich tapes? The recording where he cusses out a band member and fires him? They're hillarious and also pretty cool at the same time Buddy was so old school coming from a time where you had to talk to the manager to talk to the band leader.
Maybe i can find and post a transcription of them somewhere or even find a recording of them for download.

I've heard of these, but I've never seen them. There was an article recently in Modern Drummer that was written by a bass player that toured with Buddy, and he only lasted 3 months. The guy was extremely hard to work for.

the drummer in my band loves buddy rich and always talks about him. he showed me some of his videos which i liked alot

I've heard conflicting things about Buddy, but I did hear a testimony from a long-time band member about him: Many of those situations were when there were young/inexperianced players in his band who really were messing up those nights. It really knocked him off balance when there were nights where people weren't playing up to par and usually he was speaking out of sheer frustration. From what this one player said though, he was usually fine to be around.

There was this awsome article about it too in Downbeat it's a few years old though so i dont know when it was. It explained alot of his emperments and explained them as well.
