Background: Manticore was founded by a man known as C.J Sandeman, who used the facility to experiment in splicing together the human genetics with animals in the attempt to make a better species, a protector against evils. Later the organization was taken over by the government in the attempt to create the “perfect” soldier; they were born in the laboratory and were given barcodes, trained from infancy in the art of war.
Despite the de-humanization of the barcode, the transgenics are human; genetically modified humans, but humans none the less. They give themselves names, they feel, they fear, they dream, and they resent. In 2009 there was a break-out of transgenics, class X-5s age 10. For all purposes, they looked human (except for their barcodes on the neck). Shortly after, America, home of Manticore, was attacked by terrorists who released an electro-magnetic pulse in the atmosphere. This destroyed the computer systems and sent the country into chaos. The twelve escapees used this chaos to hide and go underground.
Manticore could not let these children disappear; too many governments would have loved to have gotten their hands on the American technology. For ten years they searched for the missing X-5s, slowly hunting down a few of them; the going slow because of the remnants of the EMP. The economy was altered drastically and many lived below the poverty level. It was easy for the children to mingle with the “normal” humans. Still, tired of hiding and running, the (now grown) X-5s and their allies to brought the fight back to the place they once called home. Though the attack unsuccessful, it did manage to destroy the laboratory where the transgenics were engineered. Several X-5s were captured in the attack and brought back for rehabilitation.
Shortly after this incident, a breeding program was instigated because of the discovery that the transgenic abilities were passed down from parent to child. It was a way to continue production of soldiers until the facilities were repaired. Unfortunately for Manticore, they made powerful enemies because of their hunt for the transgenics. A hacker known as "Eyes Only" attempted to show the country exactly what Manticore was because of this Manticore had to dissapear, their subjects as well. As the building burnt to the ground, the transgenics of all classes fled, freed by an unknown benefactor. never able to rebuild because of a second attack that destroyed the facility. Guards were given orders to shoot to kill and government officials were brought in to hunt down and terminate any and all transgenics. Their objective was to erase the existence of this top-secret facility before the public began to believe “Eyes Only”.

Setting: Immediately after the incident at Manticore in 2020. The transgenics are scattered about the in the wilderness of Washington (the state), lost and confused. Despite being shot at by the Manticore guards, many don’t realize that it was on purpose. Many transgenics are still waiting for orders to regroup, believing that those shot by the guards where on accident: “friendly fire” because they could distinguish the enemy from the ally.

Characters:
We're still looking for people to play! Just PM your character sheet.
Nota Bene: If your going to play as designation other than X5, please include your age and which animal your DNA is supplimented with. X5s are roughly 20 and have "a bit of cat in their cocktail" and you've seen the extent of their powers on the show. Also remember that X7s are about ten, so go down when making a designation.
~*~*~
Designation: X5-331047661327 (A.K.A: Vance) Played by: Vanima Eket Height: 6’ 2” Weight: 210 lbs Breeding Partner: X5- 332234218673 (successful)
Appearance: Vance is on the tall side but moves with a feline grace that his DNA imbued upon him. Muscular but toned, Vance's dark brown hair and blue eyes aren't exactly noteworthy and his face is handsome, but not enough to leave a lasting impression; ideal for undercover and assassination jobs.
Personality: First and foremost, X5- 327 is a soldier. Though at times he may seem brusque and uncaring, the opposite is true. His training has helped him conceal these emotions that his superiors deemed "unfit for a soldier". He has a sentimental attachment with all the X-5s in his squad, especially with X5-673, though he is careful not to show it. He is clever, confident, and charismatic the makings of a natural leader and the traits of a successful assassin.
Experience: As an X5, Vance has experience in the field. He has suceeded in all one hundred and twenty of his missions and if need be would be able to assimilate perfectly in to society.
Status: Shot in the calf fleeing the burning Manticore building.
~*~*~
Designation: X5- 332234218673 (A.K.A: Mauri) Played by: Vanima Eket Height: 5' 7" Weight: 135 lbs Breeding Partner: X5-331047661327 (successful)
Appearance: X5-673, like most X5s, is slender and graceful. She wears her shoulder length blonde hair in short pigtails, that, coupled with her bangs and big brown eyes, gives her a look of vulnerability. An assumption that often lends her the advantage in combat.
Personality: Like X5- 327, Mauri is a soldier. When needed she can kill a man a foot taller than her and several hundred pounds heavier than her with her bare hands. However, personality-wise she is soft-spoken often lending comforting words of encouragement to her comrades. Though frowned upon by her superiors, it did not affect her mission record and so they refrained from reprimanding the mild-mannered assassin. In reality, her quiet nature helped on undercover missions, the target often paying no mind to the quiet, pretty young woman until it was too late.
Experience: X5-673 has had many sucessful excersions into the field. If need be she can transition into "normal" society.
Status: Pregnant, but only several weeks along
~*~*~
Designation: X5-333950247381 (A.K.A: Welsh) Played by: Edme McCormic Height: 5’ 10” Weight: 160 lbs Breeding Partner: None
Appearance: For a girl Welsh is very tall, and very well built. If it wasn’t for her voice most would assume she was a male seeing as she keeps her red hair short, and then spiked up into a fohawk.
Personality: X5-381 is a soldier, and is always a soldier first and a civilian second. This inability to easily fit into normal society has hindered her, and caused her to have a very antisocial personality towards ‘normal’ people.
Very strong willed and opinionated Welsh is fairly hard to get along with when she is in one of her moods that is brought about when things don’t mesh with her view of the world and how things should be done. Of course when she sees the reason behind something, and is willing to go for it she is a force to be reckoned with, and will do almost anything to get what she wants.
Experience: Welsh has been part of slightly over one hundred missions, and excelled in every one of them. Because of her training her ability to blend in with normal society is slightly hindered.
Status: Bullet grazed on left arm, right thigh and calf.
~*~*~
Designation: X5-334982549106 (A.K.A: Oar) Played by: Edme McCormic Height: 5’ 5” Weight: 126 lbs Breeding Partner: None
Appearance: Rather short and thin there is nothing extraordinary about Oar besides her silly name. She has nondescript features, a plain face, mousy hair, and is completely unremarkable in every way except that she has the potential to be an awesome fighter.
Personality: Quiet, reserved, pacifist, all describe Oar. She rarely gets mad, and actually rarely does anything that would prove she is a X5. Besides the bar code on her neck you would assume that she is just your run of the mill quiet little homebody who was always over protected as a child, and never really got to get out into the world and experience life. Of course, in a way that is true.
Experience: Oar is possibly the sorriest excuse of a X5 there ever was. Her personality never really became that of a fighter, so even though she can fight, she doesn’t. Had it not been for her friendship with Welsh she possibly wouldn’t have made it.
She has been on next to no missions, doesn’t know very much about the real world, and at the time being she seems next to useless.

Classified Is anyone can think of a better name for this campaign. Let me know... I suck at campaign names. This Friday June 29, there's going to be a Dark Angel marathon on Sci -Fi in the morning, if anyone wanted to watch it. Its season two, but it should be good for reference. Some reference material for those who never saw the show: A fanmade teaserA tribute to the 2009 Escapees

Vance winced as the blonde rolled up the leg of his standard issue pants, gently prodding the area of entry trying to determine the damage.
“You got lucky, it didn’t hit anything major… just some tissue,” Mauri looked up at the sitting man, “We’re going to need to get the bullet out if you want it to heal properly.”
The soldier nodded, looking around their surroundings in the dawning light. He figured they were safe where they were, no chance of being mistaken for intruders by the guards in this light and a good two clicks away from Manticore. He still wasn’t quite sure had gone on only a few hours earlier, when his room was released from lockdown he had gone to find Mauri in the smoke and chaos. The rest of his squad members had bolted for the woods and scattered, he had lost track of them.
“I guess we should wait until nightfall to see the signal for rendezvous,” Vance said softly still looking around alert.
Mauri gently put her hand on his arm, “Don’t worry. Toby, Nat… everyone… will know to head towards the rendezvous. We’ll meet them there. First we have to clean up that wound the best we can,” she smiled reassuringly to her comrade and breeding partner. “I think I hear a river nearby. We can get the bullet out there and bandage until we can get actual medical attention.
The woman stood and offered her hand to the taller man. He nodded, and shifted his weight so he could walk without assistance keeping most of the pressure on his left leg, the uninjured one.

"Now, just hold still," Oar said as she examined Welsh's wounds.
"I'm fine," Welsh said as she tried to stand up, and get away from the other girls examination.
Oar kept a hard grip on Welsh's arm, and after a short stare off Welsh plopped back down on the rock. Oar looked over the wound, and once she was satisfied that she could stop the bleeding she took a roll of gause out of her pocket. She had always been teased for keeping basic medical suplise on her, but when fighting isn't your speciality you have to find something that is.
Rapping up the wound on Welsh's arm she then moved to the two on her leg.
"Oar," Welsh said, "Lets go. I can handle some pain, and we are just waisting time sitting here."
"You won't be going anywhere if you don't let me do something about this," Oar told her, but Welsh just blew the information off. Standing up she took a few steps before a slight cringe of pain could be seen on her face.
"Are you sure you wern't shot?" Oar asked as she ran over to her 'friend'.
"I was shot at," Welsh reminder her. "I think I would remember getting an actual bullet in me."
Oar looked at her doubtfully before starting on her leg.

Mauri let Vance take the lead, following close behind him. She was alert for anything that might be approaching from behind, she still wasn't sure who or what it was that had attacked Manticore and it didn't hurt to be alert in case they were still in the area.
On top of that, as much as she hated to admit it, she was nervous about running into the... others that were kept in the basement of the facility. The earlier transgenics that didn't look human, almost monster-like... the scary stories that she and her squad mates had told each other when they had been young and bunked together stuck with her. Tales of the creatures that would devour any X5 that wandered to the recesses of the basement. It chilled her to think that they might be nearby in the woods, as confident as she was in her abilities... she wasn't eager to test herself against one of those "comrades" should the childhood tales prove true.
Ahead of her, Vance stopped raising his hand quickly to signal that there was something nearby. His blue eyes met her brown ones as he turned to look back at her, giving her a silent command. Mauri nodded and slowly moved to forward and through the brush to the noise that X5-327 had detected.
((O.C for those who don't watch the show: Mauri's ideas on the transgenics in the basement aren't true. Yes, they do have a scary appearance but they don't eat children. That is the run-away workings of a child's mind, still remembered as an adult.))

Welsh cringed in pain as Oar rapped her leg a little to tight.
"Watch what you are doing!" she hissed, and then she quieted down. "Did you hear that?" she asked.
"Hear what?" Oar asked. "You are imagining thing. There isn't anything out there."

"Ho" the blonde's voice drifted through the woods to where Vance was waiting for her. He felt a little guilty for not following her, but with his injury he doubted that he could move as silently as he normally would. Judging by her tone she had found allies.
Moving the way she had gone through the bush, Vance followed trying to walk as normally as possible. If, by chance, those Mauri encountered were hostile, he would prefer that the didn't realize he was injured.

((You never said that you had shown yourself, so I am just going to go with that))
"You had to have heard that," Welsh said as the two of them stood up and looked off into the woods. "You think you can fight them off it push comes to shove?" she whispered to her friend.
"I can try," Oar told her, but she knew deep down in her heart that if something looking to kill them came out of the brush then they were humped. As much as she wanted to be a fighter like Welsh, she knew she didn't have it in her.

When the X5 had moved forward to scout, she was a little relieved to see the two transgenics in clearing. Their uniforms marked them as being from Manticore, for that Mauri was grateful she was concerned about running into foes with Vance injured (though she'd never tell him for fear of wounding his pride). As the one jerked suddenly looking around, Mauri decided to leave her cover. These were allies, after all, no need to alarm them. As she stepped forward she called out a greeting.

"Yeah," Welsh said. "You alone?" she asked. "Injured? Oar here is a fine doctor, and can fix almost anything."

Mauri looked at the both of them quickly, now that she could see them unobstructed she could see that they were just as haggard and confused as she was. Turning to look at the red-head that spoke she tried to keep the relief out of her face as she reported.
"No, I was with X5-327. He--" the blonde was cut off by the arrival of the aforementioned soldier. As Mauri turned to watch him move towards her she could tell that he was in pain, despite how hard he tried to keep it off his face. Looking back to the other transgenics she picked up from where she left off, "He's injured but we need to wash the wound before we can attempt to remove the bullet. We were heading towards the river..."
Mauri paused and looked at the two as Vance came to her side, unsure of how to continue.

"River?" Welsh asked and turned to Oar. "Wasn't it..."
"It's just right over there," Oar told the other two. "It' just that..."
"The damn thing is in a gorge," Welsh finished for her friend. "We ran along side it for most of our trip. Decided that it's about twenty feet. Not that much of a problem except for the fact that once you are down there there is no shore, and the rock wall is flat, and smooth. Once your down there you aren't coming back up for a long while."
"Also," Oar added, "You couldn't possibly last down there. We don't know how deep it is, and being here in the woods it is going to be freezing, and hypothermia is a serious threat."
