Ariel grabbed the mirror that linked her to her mother--ignoring the fact that it had not worked before--and pleaded into it, for deliverance, for help, for anything, but nothing came--no answer whatsoever.
She turned back to see the beast a mere three meters out of grabbing range, it was closing in fast. She swallowed hard, and knowing she would be unable to outrun it much longer, she turned and pointed her gun at it's chest.
At closer than point blank range--for the creature was already on top of her--she pulled the trigger.
~~
Tanya heard a shriek behind them. It was Ariel's voice.
"No!" she screamed and whirled around, only to see the sight of her sister being torn to shreds by the creature that had been chasing them. She started to run back when an arm wrapped around her torso and pulled her back.
"No," the arm's voice commanded. It was Catherine. "Don't let her sacrifice be in vain."
Tanya shuddered as she gazed on the scene, but turned back with Catherine and the others. They managed to escape.
~~
The room was dark, but Japi could feel Morphea's presence. There was something cold about the atmosphere, and it wasn't just the temperature.
"Why have you betrayed me like this?!" Japi's words were desperate, her eyes on the verge of overflowing. "How could you do that kind of thing to Ariel? She's your neice!"
"She's not really my neice, Japi," Morphea replied in a callious tone. "Stop forcing me to play your game, and let me enjoy mine."
"GAME?!" Japi cried out, her voice cracking. The tears that were trapped in her eyes suddenly burst forth. "IS THAT WHAT THIS IS TO YOU!?"
"That's all it's ever been, Japi," Morphea replied, unmoved by Japi's pain. "And I just got tired of playing your game, so I started my own."
Japi's cried out wordlessly in reply. But there was nothing she could do, at least in this place, so she left, and returned to her own home to mourn the loss of one of her eldest daughters.

Four figures sit in a room. The room appears to be inside a house of 18th century Japan. The room is made with thin flexible wood and rice paper doors, and contains a short square table in the middle surrounded by eight light green pillows, and an oil lamp in the center.
But there is an oddity about the room. No matter how hard one tries, he cannot get out of the room. The doors repel hands, so that no one can touch, and the thin walls, while they shouldn't provide that much resistance, cannot be broken no matter how hard one tries.
One girl--probably about 15 years of age--sits on the floor with her knees drawn in to her chest, her chin resting on top of them. Her face is tear stained and her expression is empty. Her hair is in a long braid and is of a dirty blonde color. Her clothes are plain and look relatively easy to move around in. Next to her, an elegant looking woman sits cross-legged, with her hand on the girl's shoulder. She wears a breastplate of studded leather and a leather skirt. Her arms are guarded by studded leather bracers, her feet by thick leather boots, and her long blond hair seems to be tied back with a strip of leather.
On the opposite side of the wall, resting against a support beam, is a man of average stature, wearing extravagant robes, but his skin is a green color, and his ears come to a point, and his hair is blue all but for a small lock of purple. His arms hang limply to his sides and he stares down at the ground.
The last figure is barely noticable, for she lies on the ground in a corner closer to the man. She wears little, exept for a skirt cloth of dark brown fur, and a drape about her shoulders of white fur. Her breasts are not covered except by the ends of the drape about her shoulders. Around her neck hangs an uneven necklace of teeth and claws.
And then more people start to arrive, with nothing more than the clothing on their backs.

Sekenre's story lines and actions are in this color Krillo will be in This color
"Oh my what an interesting room I've stumbled into...*sniff* These people are not dead...why are they here?"
Sekenre passes through the walls of the room to get a better look at its inhabitants. The thought of Living on this side of the River intrigued him so. As he passes though the wall he takes notice of their eyes. "Silly Humans...mortals...their eyes always give them away." In their eyes he sees fear, hate and sorrow. "Perhaps I'll join the dance. Besides it seems someone has high expectations and I can't let anyone muscle into my domain now can I?" With a subtle thought, Sekenre joins the Living in their small paper room. "That was too easy to get in, I hope leaving proves to be more of a challenge."

((Okay, I'm gonna start. I'll give you each your cue to join as we're ready for you. We'll start with Sekenre since he's already there.))
The alien looking man looked up as the newcomer appeared. He expression was empty, and he just stared blankly at Sekenre, as though looking for something that wasn't there.
The girl that had been hugging her knees and the woman comforting her stood up slowly. The woman smiled weakly. "I'm so sorry you've been dragged into this," she began. It sounded like she'd made this speech before. "You may or may not realize it, but you're dead now." She waited for a reply.
The woman in the corner looked up to see the newcomer. When she saw who he was, she sat up, but didn't say anything.

Sekenre takes a deep breathe and drops his head. Suddenly his shoulders shake uncontrollably. To those of exceptional hearing a slight chuckle could be heard. Before too long that chuckle roared into a boisterous laugh. "Excuse me, I seemed to have lost myself for a moment. You see m'lady, Death means no meaning to me. I just walk THE River and its flow brought me here. *sniff* For 'dead' your scent is odd as is your aura. A most welcome puzzle indeed." Sekenre bows before the woman in front of him. "Forgive my lack of manners I am Sekenre the Illuminator, son of Vashtem the Sorcerer."
Without another word Sekenre scans the room. His eyes finally fall to a figure in the corner. "I see our fates have brought us together. though somehow I was expecting the girl I knew, but now it seems that I must meet the woman I don't. May I have a seat while I get some answers...'Wild-child'?"

The one he addressed as 'Wild Child' nodded. She tugged her furs closer to her collar bone as she stood up and moved to the table, seating herself once again on one of the pillows there. She motioned for Sekenre to do the same.
"You know Whisper?" the woman who had spoken earlier asked. She was still taken aback by his response to what he had said.
"Wait," the woman looked suddenly startled, as though she just realized something. "Does this mean... Maybe you can help us get out of here!" She moved toward him.
"Please," Whisper said, in her kindest possible voice, which still somehow came out as a half-growl. "Sit first, and we will explain our situation to Master Sekenre, before we do anything else."
The woman looked at the ground and then back up at the two of them, then obeyed and sat across from Whisper.
The girl who had been standing next to the woman sat next to her moments later, while the man remained in his place.
"My name is Catherine," the woman introduced herself. "And..." she looked to the girl to see if she was going to do the same.
"Tanya," the girl managed to force out, but she still looked somewhat shaken, and very tired.
"And that man over there is Damion," the woman finished the introduction, knowing that Damien was in no mood for talking at this point. She wasn't really sure if he would ever be ready to communicate again.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance" Sekenre managed politely as he made eye contact with all of them and then seated himself. "It seems that I may have come at a most opportune or inopportune time; depends on how you look at it really. If I know my 'Wild-child', excuse me, if I know Whisper, as you call her, then two things are true. One, everything is not as it seems, and two, we, seeing as I am in the same room as you, are caught between a rock and a hard place, so to speak." Sekenre smirks in 'Wild-child's' direction. "So tell me," Sekenre leans forward with is hand steepled, "how bad is it?"

"It's bad," Catherine started. "Or at least it has been, but since you're here, maybe that will all change." She looked ever the optimist.
Whisper shook her head. "It's hostile," she said gruffly. "This world we're in is a hostile one, and there's no reason for it. Some animals act oddly, and attack without provocation. Others, which our missions instruct us to kill, do nothing but run, not even defending themselves when backed into a corner. None of it makes sense." It was unlike Whisper to talk so much, but if she said it, she felt it was necessary.
"I suppose we should back up some," Tanya said, after taking a deep breath. "You two will never get the situation across," she said in advance reply to Catherine's comments, so that Catherine ended up saying nothing at all.
Taking in another breath, she explained their situation. "It would be best to start from the very beginning. I'm sure you've heard of Japi, since you can walk through dimensions, yes?"

"Perhaps words will take to long and are easily muddled. Is there any chance one of you would be willing to open your mind to me. It will go much quicker that way." Sekenre closes and opens his hands. Where there was once nothing, each palm contains a ball of blue flame. "Whomever believes they have the most structured details, place their hands in mine. Be not afraid of the flames, they are quite cool. You should know that in order for this to work without pain I will need trust and an open mind."
Sekenre glances at Whisper. "Worry not 'Wild-child' these flames are not meant to harm."

Whisper eyed the flames. If Sekenre said it, it must be true. But she still didn't like it.
Without hesitation, Tanya stuck her hands out. "I've been here since the beginning. I have the most complete story." When her hands touched the flames, she nearly drew her hand back. "Sorry. Reaction. Damn system..." she mumbled to herself, and then made contact. It hurt a little, probably the Zero System interfering with the open mind thing, but Tanya was used to pain, and it went away shortly.
Sekenre was flooded with the thoughts of a fifteen year old girl trying to be brave, in so many situations that should have been beyond her. The story of Japi's children and Morphea's betrayal also entered his mind, along with the parameters of this 'game' she had created--at least the ones that had been so far discovered. He saw Tanya's death before she entered the room, strangled at Morphea's hands, he saw Ariel's death, brutal as it was, and he felt the pain, emotional pain from what they'd all been through.
((I think I remembered how it worked well enough.. Tell me if I need to edit something.))

Sweat droplets begin to form over Sekenre's brow as his mind is rushed with a systematic onslaught of information. The blue flame that engulfed both their hands dies down to nothingness and they break contact. "I see." was all he could manage at the moment.
After a few minutes of thought and catching his breath Sekenre stands. "I now realize what I have stumbled onto, but I would like to try out something. You see, I do know of Japi, and like her, I too am a dimension hopper; we just travel by different means." Sekenre makes a few signs with his hands while his eyes are closed. Opening them, he sees the room staring at him. "I guess that didn't work. *sigh* Looks like I'm stuck. Whoever did this - Morphea was it? - is good. I have no choice now but to play. Who would have thought that I was to fight alongside 'Wild-child' again."
"I hope Morphea knows what she's gotten herself into!" And with that Sekenre bursts into a hearty laugh.
