The day had been nice. Productive, casual, and all in routine. Just a basic spring day. Working out in the morning, visiting with Shaeria, practice with Ikurai, things like that. The sort of stuff that was normal for him. Aside from feeling a bit down the last few days, which he assumed was from not getting enough sleep, everything was perfectly normal. Now to finish it up with trying out this new brilliant idea Paxton had insisted they must do. Something about it being popular. Not that he cared too much, but it would make his friend happy.

He coughed slightly, raising a hand to his mouth as he did, rounding a corner towards the street that Paxton had mentioned for a meeting point. Not too far now, and right about on time... at least he assumed. It was nearing sunset, with the sky growing a more hazy colour with every passing moment, a rather delightful sight to behold. The few clouds dotting the once blue sky were illuminated brilliantly by the sinking rays. Quite different than what he'd caught sight of through the hospital windows not so long ago really, the world was an interesting place afterall. Part of why it was so worth protecting. It and everyting living on it.

A small yawn escaped him as he stretched, walking along casually until he narrowed his eyes at what might have been his friend down a ways. Then again, it was probably pretty hard to mistake the lovebird for anyone else. "Heey! Paxton!" One hand raised as he hollered quickly to test if it was, indeed, the fellow teen he'd been heading over to meet. After he finished the action he quickly upped his pace to a jog to head toward the appointed spot. He slowed a bit before reaching that as a second set of minor coughs demanded a moment of time. Only for a second though, then back to normal waiting for his friend to explain just what it was they were supposed to be doing. "So what's so popular we have to try it out anyway?"

Leaning against the lamp post which was beginning to faintly glow Paxton held up his cell phone. With a simple flip of the wrist he pulled the top open and glanced at the glowing numbers. Damn it! Only three minutes had passed since he last checked. In the future he would remember to come late to meeting or not at all, because arriving early sucked. At least he wasn't kept waiting much longer, around the corner a familiar face blurred into view.

"Yo!" The boy flung his arm up giving his very dear friend a hearty and energetic wave. Slipping away from the pole, the lovebird adjusted his shirt; pulling it down where it had ridden up, and pulled his jacket about him until it was snug. With the coming night it was getting a little chilly, it still being Spring and not Summer, yet.

"Keanuuuu--" the lovebird raised his hand to give the leopard a soft smack on the back, but stopped at the coughing, "you sound like s**t..." He didn't mean to be rude or anything, but it was just one of those truthful observations you couldn't help but comment upon. "Erm, uh, anyway," least he make the Leopard angry. " I have called you hear to embark upon a something that all teens our age should get into religiously," and this something was called, "Going to coffee."

Ok, sue him. Paxton really didn't like coffee, but after reading the living section one to many times...well, this going to coffee thing sounded like something he and Keanu both should be doing.

Well, at least he hadn't been too late. Afterall, ditching Ymir wasn't an easy task. He'd had to convince the dragon that watching over his dozing little sister was a very important task, he'd also needed to point out Paxton would never suggest something dangerous. So the whole outing would be completely harmless. Finally the dragon had accepted the explaination and hunkered down to let him go. So if anything Paxton was lucky he hadn't taken longer, or had a partner tag along with him.

Though at the momentary mention of the coughing Paxton did earn a bit of a glare that said to drop it. He was fine, probably just inhaled something that bugged his throat. Nothing big, it wasn't as if he was going to die. "I'm fine." a quick two words cutting in before he let it go and listened to this bit about what was so important.

"Religiously huh?" Didn't that stuff stunt peoples growth? Coffee... Raja did have it occaisionally, mostly when he had to pull an all nighter of something along those lines. "Well, if you say so. But I don't think I'll have coffee." He'd snuck a sip out of Raja's mug once. The stuff just wasn't to his taste. Kind of bitter really. Then again, didn't his father once menetion how he liked to take his coffee black? Maybe that had something to do with it. "So why is this so popular anyway?" He managed to swallow the sensation in his throat this time, shoving back the threat that might give Paxton something to further comment on.

Keanu would whole-heartedly admit that he wasn't... mainstream. Certainly not. So he'd come to terms with the fact that he didn't understand what made most people his age tick, thus the question was rather standard. As was the next bit to come. "And uh... where do we go to do this?" Ah yes, coffee shops weren't something he really paid much attention to.

Tsh, 'I'm fine,' those words grated under Paxton's skin. That was Keanu, pushing it until the last second, until he no longer could. Despite holding a gentle disposition for his DNA, Keanu brought out Paxton's temper. Still, this was only because Paxton cared deeply for Keanu and taking care of someone who wouldn't tell you anything was beyond even the patience of a saint.

Fortunately, Keanu bit in early enough to change the subject and Paxton realized it was way too early to shoot the night with bad vibes. "Yes, religiously, and if your going to be a bad sport about the whole thing you can just have tea." The lovebird sighed, practically sniffed at the thought that Keanu would have nothing to do with taking coffee. There were people out there in this world, he knew, that didn't drink coffee and didn't like the stuff. But couldn't Keanu just play along for once? In truth, Paxton didn't like coffee much either, a sweet tea would be more his thing. Still, he wasn't about to let anyone know that, he would just drown out the bitter taste of his drink with sugar.

Still feigning upset at the leopard Paxton turned, nose up, and started walking in the opposite direction Keanu had came from. "Lucky for you, the place were going serves tea, I've heard good things about it. I didn't decide to drag you out to Durem for any old reason." Having little or no valid answer as to why doing coffee was popular Paxton didn't answer to Keanu. You know...it just sounded cool to go have coffee, it made you look like you were classy or something, especially if you went to one of the out of the way places. Besides, if things didn’t work out this time, there wouldn’t be a next. That was the nice thing about just trying something, if you didn’t like it, you didn’t have to do it again.

But it was a trained response. The answer to everything when asked if he was well. Anything else just wouldn't suffice. Besides... the idea of someone trying to take care of him didn't seem to set right, he was the one who was supposed to protect them. Not the other way around. How could he ever willingly tell Paxton he was anything but 'fine'?

It was better Paxton let it drop, even if he'd pursued it he'd have gotten nothing beyond a smile and a laugh. Which might have agitated his throat further and caused more of a misunderstanding. Afterall, he was perfectly fine. Never better.

He frowned at the fact he was being given something of a cold shoulder after the comment about coffee, but quickly let it drop. No need ot ruin things. "Then I'll try some of the tea." He replied, hoping the more cherry tone might rub off on the seemingly disgruntled love bird. Not that it was a problem, Paxton never stayed mad at him. Well, not unless he did something really bad. Then all bets where off. He'd have been better off finding a nice room to hibernate in for a few days if Paxton was really angry, he did have a temper despite looking so harmless.

"Really? I thought it might be training for that hike we're going to take this weekend." Not that he'd discussed it with Paxton before. It was more a joke than anything, he knew quite well that there'd be great opposition to the suggestion, but at least it'd break up the previous mood and leave room for a more positive normal conversation.
