Take a Look, It's in a Book....
You guys remember that show? I doooo. In fact, they still show it on KET here..... [Dat's our local Educational channel]. Anyway, I think that since we're all SO awesome, and seem to have so much in common, we could share and discuss books and authours we like. ^^

O3o reading rainbow! ARghfmghpb! I have the themesong stuck in my head now... Oh well it's better than the ending theme from lambchops...
Alright getting on track here.
^^ Neil Gaiman is actually a really good writer. I generally don't say that about those who start mostly with comics but American Gods was a book I read in like a week because I couldn't put it down.
^ I have never actually read of that writer but I watched the Hitchcock movies... Not that it's the same at all... *hides*
Now here's where I get lame. I totally miss dating my ex from high school and not for the normal reasons. His mum was a technical writing professor with a gigantic library in her house and his dad (they were divorced and had two separate houses) owned every novel, short story, lecture transcript, and essay from my all time favorite to read writers Kurt Vonnegut in his private library... I miss dating Cooper solely for the access to his parent's libraries. That's really pathetic I know.

haha, I know. I miss my first boyfriend only because he could fix the DVD player.
Reading Rainbow and Mister Rogers's Neighbourhood, man. Rocko's Modern Life, Aah Real Monsters, Speed Racer, Sailor Moon, Rugrats, Sesame Street, Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mary Kate and Ashley's You're Invited, and then there was The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Are You Afraid of the Dark, The Strange Case of Alex Mack, All That with Lori Beth Dinberg and Keenan Thompson and Danny Temborelli (I can't spell that), Clarissa Explains It All, 2 Stupid Dogs, Swat Cats, Doug, Goof Troop, Tail Spin, Pokemon, Beetlejuice, Freakazoid, The Animaniacs, Dexter's Lab, The Powerpuff Girls, Daria, Degrassi, and there was a brief run of some show called O'Grady, and by then I was growing up, watching Ruroni Kenshin and Inuyasha and Trigun and Yu Yu Hakusho and Cowboy Bebop, and Family Guy and Mission Hill and The Oblongs, and at some point Kikaider and Lupin III and Cyborg 009 were in there, and then the internet ate my soul and I don't even know what's on televsion any more.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. heart

@ Miss Jersey, American Gods was.... amazing. I read it this summer, every spare moment I had was devoted to Gaiman. I even liked all the characters.... That's one thing about Gaiman, as awful as any one character is, they always have something to redeem them in some aspect by the end of the story. After American Gods I went on to read Neverwhere and his new book of Short stories Fragile Things. Every time I read his stuff, it's like I'm remembering how good of an author he is. Oh, and I don't THINK he started out writing for comics...... uhm... I could be wrong but I think he had several short stories and a biography [a book he wrote for the money] published before he started writing for comics... which I also love. ^^ The Sandman, I read it in high school..... It was wonderful. ::drooldrooldrool:: Also, I have to say... I probably would have dated your Ex just to get to all those books!
Lordy Lou! :'D @ Miss req, F.U.C.K. I LOVE YOU! I think I remember almost all of those shows.... Although, I believe you left out The Smurfs, The GummiBears, Carebears, Ren and Stimpy [which I actually wasn't allowed to watch until it was in syndication], Tale Spin, DarkWing Duck, TinyToons, Hey Dude [although I didn't like it that much], Salute Your Shorts, Fraggle Rock, My Little Pony, The Pink Panther, Flipper............. I always DID like Lori Beth Dinberg. ^^ Then there was Angela Anaconda, Big Wolf on Campus, Gundam Wing [my first anime, and still one of my favourites], Tenchi [in Tokyo], Outlaw Star. When I started growing up I started watching old SNL episodes, from like the 80s and 90s. When Adam Sandler, and Chris Farley and all them were still in the cast. ^^
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle! Wow, I haven't read anything by him in years. heart When I was in 8th grade, I had been going through and reading his entire Sherlock Holmes series, when my science teacher had brought his stories to our attention. He used my book as an example and then taught a week long lesson on the powers of observation and meditation and science and how the mind works and such. I was a good lesson. He was a good teacher. Maybe you'd be interested in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime by Mark Haddin. Not really the same.... but still a good read. One of Bookie's faves and she's quite the Doyle fan. ;D

^ you're totally right he started out doing writer interviews and non fiction stuff and worked up to short fiction in magazines but my personal introduction to him was the Sandman comics so I'm biased. I think if you haven't read any or a lot yet that you would probably like Chuck Palahniuk's novels. Avoid Fight Club though, it may have been made into a movie but it's sort of lacking as a literary piece. Just like how Vladimir Nabokov was an excellent writer Lolita, his most popular story, made me want to eat pages from the book. I don't even think I finished it... but King Queen Knave continues to be a fav. Haa! sorry as a coincidence Cooper's mum's name is Louise but goes by Lou/Lu so I loled. I'd probably still date cooper if it meant a: access again to his parent's libraries and b: access to the observatory at the university of Manoa on Oahu... He's currently getting his PhD in Astrophysics. I'm shallow :3 @ Req, & Gummi that's a lot of cartoonage O3o! I didn't start to really watch TV until moving to the mainland US. (Military brat born on the Anderson Air force base in Guam... but it should be noted that it is a multi military base so it harbors marines, army, navy and air force... takes up like a third of the island) but in saying that we didn't get a lot of channels in Guam and Sesame Street always came through in Tagalog from the Philippines through the mega satellites on the base. But my first real intro to cartoons was like Jem and the Holograms, The adventures of He Man and She Ra (brother sister my a**) Popples, Wuzzles, Pound Puppies, and Voltron... I'm old X3 edit: the DLXSF art room smells like spaghetti-o's
