Therianthropes, or therians for short, are humans believing to have a tie with an animal or animals. Therians, to sum this up, believe to have souls of animals or a seperate entity residing in them of that of an animal. Here's what wikipedia has to say about us therians:
Therianthropy is derived from the noun therianthrope, meaning part man and part beast, in turn derived from the Greek therion (Θηριον), meaning "wild animal" or "beast", and anthrōpos (ανθρωπος), meaning "man". Therianthropes have long existed in mythology, appearing in ancient cave drawings and in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. The Inquisitions of the 16th century claimed to have documented therianthropy in mortals, specifically referring to lycanthropy, the state of being a werewolf.
The term therianthropy was used to refer to animal transformation folklore of Asia and Europe as early as 1901. Therianthropy was also used to describe spiritual belief in animal transformation in 1915 [1] and one source raises the possibility the term may have been used in the 16th century in criminal trials of suspected werewolves. This is what therianthropes.com has to say about therians:
Therianthropes may describe their nature manifesting in terms of their cognitive processes, their outlook on life, their inner reactions and instincts, their senses, or through their physical body, though claims of actual physical variations from the norm tend to be regarded with skepticism both within and outside the subculture. Detailed descriptions (as with all inner experiences) vary widely, with common descriptions being of a spiritual bond, the soul of an animal within, a belief that they have an atypical or atavistic neurology, or an emotional shading of the personality. The human and non-human aspects of the self may then cooperate or conflict, leading to happiness or unhappy disfunction, and may take much self-discovery to begin to understand or accept. In truth, therians are the closest thing to an actual werewolf you're going to find. A very good website for understanding therians and discussing therianthropy is: Werelist

Do NOT get therians confused with furries. We don't yiff for one, and they only act like animals. Furries have no tie with animals, but choose to behave like one. When therians, on instinct behave like animals.

It's good that you posted this, people need to know this information, not just assume we run around in fur costumes, or eat children...well...most of us don't.

*coughs* About the children...
Thank Des, he's the one that came up with the idea, and also thank Aneast for allowing this. She likes werewolves anyways, but this is a completely different side of weres. And she kept it here.

Most people, when they think of werewolves, think of Hollywood's creation, or think were just plain psycho. Or, if they think there educated, ask us if we've yiffed anyone lately...It does get annoying, to a degree, having to explain that I don't enjoy having sex with strangers in costumes...not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it's not something therians do.

Hey! In your original post, I disagree with stanza 7! I bet if you spent afew years in Albania, you could find some lost child being raised in a wolf pack!

LOL, how in the world did yiffing become the side topic in this guild? I like wolves and sometimes I feel almost if I am one, so I guess would consider myself as a therian.

I really have no clue... sweatdrop
May I ask how old you are? Just for a basic reference on the "awakening" process many kin call finding you animal side.
I know I was 13 when the process started, I'm still getting used to having urges to sniff odd things...and eat...and I'm 14. It's been a year and I still feel like a pup. But I guess it comes with age. Some "awaken" faster than others, it just depends on how well you react to the animal, I guess.

I started finding myself when I was a teen as well but now I am 20 going on 21 this year. Some times I have to restrain my animal self, but as I get older the more I gain control over the therian in me. No need to worry, I am a fun going person and is very loyal to my friends and family. If you ever needed me for anything just as and I will be there to back you up.

I always forget that a lot of people around twenty years of age get on...I was thinking you were around my own age! I offer my own services to you, if ever they are needed. Though they will probably be of little help.

I'm 18 now and i think that i was awaken about 2 years ago. I use to eat my hamburgers well done, but now i eat thing that haven't been cooked as long. I also use to be a morning person, but now i can't seem to go to bed. I like being outside, especially at night. Nice to know I'm not going insane.
