Jiri, like many of her species, has tendencies towards pain as a focusing drug. If you feel queasy reading about self-inflicted injury, it is peppered through the RP of this journal and character. If you are requesting RP and would prefer I stay away from the subject, please let me know. However, I will not be toning down what I do in my own journal on my own time. It is part of her character, deal with it.

Physical Appearance: Jiri exists physically well within her species norm. Her skin is a medium grayish-tan color and her eyes a deep and complex shade of green. While the few non-Yuuzhan Vong she has met often comment on her eyes, Jiri finds them to be a frustratingly common color among her people. Compared to her peers at the academy, Jiri stands a few inches taller than the average human of her age and she is fairly heavier than she looks. Her build is tall and wiry, with well-defined muscles and a hint of curves.
Jiri is too young to have done much in the way of ritual body modification, but she does have a thin blue line tattoo on her cheek and some ear piercings.
Spoken Languages: Technically only Yuuzhan Vong and some Basic, but has a Tizowym.
Understood Languages: Again, technically only Yuuzhan Vong and some Basic, but has a Tizowyrm.

Personality: Jiri is on a mission to prove herself. Though seemingly outgoing and friendly, deep down this girl merely wants the approval of those around her. She wants to be noticed, she wants to be liked, and she wants to show that she has just as much the right to attend the academy as any other student. Coming from Shaper stock, she is naturally intelligent and inquisitive though finds herself putting these talents to use figuring out lessons more than she finds herself using them to understand cell division. Her sense of humor runs towards the brash, sarcastic side.
Strengths: high pain tolerance, has the vongsense, good at levitating things, excellent combat skills,

Physical Appearance: Short in stature compared to the average human male, and built rather thin, Alt does not look like his species' traditional appearance. As his family belongs to the minority Arkanian offshoot, and so he has pale blue eyes rather than "blank" ones and has a fifth finger in addition to snow-white skin. He wears his white hair slightly long and it curls a bit, and he dresses very professionally.

Vongsense: Jiri can sense and manipulate Yuuzhan Vong lifeforms, and all native parts of Zonama Sekot. Her connection to this is actually much stronger than her connection to the force, but since most Yuuzhan Vong are not aware of the Vongsense, it bares mentioning. When using the Vongsense, Jiri all by vanishes from the Force, and she cannot use both at once. (A few human Jedi managed to develop the ability during the Yuuzhan Vong War, namely Jacen and Anakin Solo and Tahiri Veila. Onimi also used this power.)
Levitation: Even before her arrival at the temple, Jiri has become somewhat proficient with the levitation of small things such as coins, pebbles, etc. She cannot yet use this ability on anything not of Yuuzhan Vong or Zonama Sekotan origin, though.
The Void: When Jiri uses the force, the Vongsense becomes a void in her mind. By wrapping her force presence around someone and plunging her own perception into the void, she can drag them in with her.
The Force: Jiri can sense and manipulate the Force, making her a rarity among her species. While comparatively weak when compared to other Jedi, Jiri has enough force sensitivity to use most techniques if given significant training, the exception being her almost total lack of empathy. Her presence in the Force is very dim, dimmer when using Vongsense. She cannot use the Force and Vongsense at the same time.
Projection: Even if Jiri cannot sense emotions, she has a very mild form of emotional projection, being able to pour emotions across a force connection if she really tries to.
Levitation: It doesn't come nearly as easily as it does in the Vongsense, but Jiri figured out the Levitation thing through the Force. It's very hard right now, though.

BUT WHY???? So, Kei Yim is like, this amazing geneticist. Her lifelong project has been "identifying special species markers in the bloodstream cells" (Which is a fancy way to say "Analyzing blood cells"), with a particular interest in force sensitive individuals. Through her research and comparison, she was able to isolate midichlorian cells, and by using another theorum involving "the translation of DNA coding structures across species lines" (a fancy way to say "inter-species genetic splicing) was able to graft them into Yuuzhan Vong chromisomes.
Jiri is considered to be the first success of her project.

Korvo Vos - Korvo has good stories, and he liked mine. He even knew about the Ganner! We did the second lesson together, which was cool, and of all the other students I think we have the most in common. Like tattoos. His is for his clan, Vos, which I think is sort of like how mine is for my domain. I think this is what having a friend is like. (8/10)

About the Yuuzhan Vong

Physical distinctions: Black hair, grayish-purplish-blue skin, black blood, "eye sacks", "absence" in the force, lack of kidneys
Average lifespan: 2 to 3 times the human average.
The Yuuzhan Vong ("Children of Yun-Yuuzhan", also called the Chosen Race), (sometimes incorrectly abbreviated Vong, which implied that one was disowned by one's family and one's gods) were a race of sentients which posed a significant threat to the New Republic.
The Yuuzhan Vong were among the few alien species known to originate outside the galaxy (the Silentium and Abominor coming from their same galaxy and being tied to their history.). The Yuuzhan Vong resembled Humans in form, though they were taller and heavier than the average Human and had less hair on their heads. The Yuuzhan Vong were religious zealots who viewed mechanical technology as blasphemy. Their technological innovations were genetically engineered and purely organic. Additionally, the Yuuzhan Vong deeply respected pain to the point of masochism, and strove to improve their physical capabilities through organ grafting. Such grafting was a status symbol within Yuuzhan Vong society.
Perhaps most notably, the Yuuzhan Vong were unable to be sensed or directly affected through the Force. This confounded the Jedi who first encountered the Yuuzhan Vong because prior to this all life forms were thought have a Force energy signature in one way or another.

Jiri grew up with her mother and father in a village on Zonama Sekot in the equatorial region. It is a primarily shaper-caste settlement, and continues to operate under the strong control of a nearby galactic government base and spaceport. The most notable building in the village is the government-established Medical Center staffed by government employees. Though originally intended to control disease and lower the settlement's initially alarmingly high infant mortality rates, it has over time evolved into a method of population control. Gruff treatment at the hands of the center's employees are some of Jiri's earliest childhood memories.

The Jeedai Heresy
The Jeedai Heresy, begun during the Yuuzhan Vong War by the prophet Yuu'sha, and later continued by the Extolled Kunra, was a movement that believed the Jedi had the power to redeem the Shamed caste of the Yuuzhan Vong. While most of the Yuuzhan Vong species follows the traditional polytheistic beliefs, the Extolled caste and certain domains within the Shaper caste still preserve the stories of the Jeedai Heresy.
The Heresy focuses primarily on the heroic deeds of the Jedi during the war, though some sections were added later.
The Ganner - The Ganner was a Jeedai. He perished in battle protecting Jacen Solo, whose tale is another story for another day, and took many warriors with him into the afterlife. The Ganner now perpetually guards the gates of hell, preventing demons and ghosts from passing back through into the land of the living, his last words echoing eternally.
