Ianthe yawned and walked through the dimly lit woods of the mainlands. Here it was, dusk, and she had yet to return to the Islands. However, she didn't feel much desire to go home. The others were well-versed in taking care of themselves. Besides which, she just had a feleing that she should stay here for awhile. Maybe meet someone new.

Nyx wandered around the forest, she had nowhere else to be and plus this had shelter. With the tall trees like hands trying to touch the sky. She walked past a bush, bright with blue berries. She thought about eating them but wasn't sure if they were poisonous. So Nyx walked on throgh the maze of trees we call a forest. Maybe she'd discover somehtign here.

Ianthe looked behind herself as she heard someone else walking. True, she had wanted to find someone despite her anti-social nature, but...who would be out here? Almost none of the mainlanders dared to venture into this place. "Who's out there," she called softly, preparing herself in case she was attacked.

Nyx heard the voice and whirled around sharply looking for the source. "Darn trees" She mumbled to herself, the barky plants blocking her veiw. "A friend!" She yelled out to the voice. Nyx kept an eye out for any sight of the voice's owner.

Ianthe chuckled and decided to follow the voice. "I was looking for a name, but I suppose that works too," she called back. Within a few moments, she chanced upon the slightly younger female and bowed her head in greeting.
And forced herself to push away her tendency to like females.
"Speaking of names, I supppose I should introduce myself. My name's Ianthe," she said with a soft smile.

She turned towards the voice seeing a turquise-ish girl modifox. Seeing the blue one bow her head, Nyx did so also. "Nice to meet you Ianthe!" She said happily. "Oh hehe... I supposed I should introduce myself also. The name is Nyx." She smiled at the older blue female.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Nyx," Ianthe returned with a grin. For some reason, the other's happiness was infectious. "May I ask what brings you out here? Most of your other mainlander counterparts avoid the area."
Noticing a small glinting on the top of her paw, Ianthe quickly removed the offending thorn. "And with good reason, it seems."

"That's silly. I mainly came here becasue I wanted to explore the area." She looked around. "There may be a lot of those plant-spikes, but it's a pretty forest. Rare rays of sun light peeking through the branches. It does look gloomy, but it's pretty."
Nyx Looked back at the other modi. "What are you doing out here? Same thing I am?"

Ianthe smiled softly at the reply. "I suppose so. To tell you the truth, this whole place..It confuses me. I'd forgotten so much about life on the mainland, isolated on the Islands."
She looked around and nodded in agreement. "Yes. It is rather nice. I guess that's what drew me here."

Nyx looked at Ianthe in surprise. "You're from the issylands? Cool! I've been on the mainland my whole life. But I always loved the water. What is it like living on an island?" She looked to the blue modi for anwsers to her rambling questions..

Ianthe laughed at the endless questions; such things seemed to suit Nyx well. "What's it like? Well...It's much different than life here. Most of the foxes on the islands wander on their own, so there's little conflict. And even with those of us who stick together, there isn't nearly as much fighting as there is with some of the mainlanders. So I suppose it's more peaceful out there. Really, it's much more fend for yourself than most of the tribes here seem to be."
Ianthe could only hope she did her lands justice; it seemed impossible to aptly describe their lives to someone.

"So everyone just wanders? No fighting Sounds peaceful and quiet. I bet you cna hear the ocean real well at night!" Nyx said excitedly wondering what the islands were like. "Any different plant-spikes, ground-huggers, or reachers?" (thorns, bushes, and trees.)

Ianthe had to honestly think about what the younger female meant for a moment. Realizing what the other was saying, she nodded. "We don't really have thorns-erm, plant-spikes. There's a variety of...ground huggers though, and tons of reachers."
She studied the other for a moment. "Yes, I think you'd like it there."

"Wow! That's cool! I wish I could see your islands. IS that why your a pretty blue like the ocean? 'cause you live on the island?" She spoke to the older fox.
Nyx smiled at Ianthe. "I think I would."

Ianthe rretended not to be overly affected by the compliment. For some reason, the simple comment from Nyx affected her more than almost all of the other praise she had received across her lifetime. "Perhaps it is, though I was not born on the islands."
She pondered for a moment and asked, smiling, "Nyx...How would you like you like to see the Shipwreck Islands? We aren't very far off; I could have us on the Islands in less than an hour."
