Snickering a small child came darting around the corner of the store's dairy isle. He was of pale skin and had a mop of orange hair dangling partling around his ears, it moved ever so slightly as he turned on his toes and stopped directly infront of a coupon dispenser. Eyes widened the young boy toddled over to it and plopped his rear down on the hard concret floor before poking the red object with his finger. It make a short clicking noise and out popped a sheet of paper, a coupon for 20% off all canned goods on the isle, would've been useful had the boy not quickly crumpled it up and thrown it away from him.
A grin from ear to ear was fresh on his delicate face as he kicked his brown boots at the firm wall infront of where he sat, making a scrunching action with his nose the young child looked inquizitivly at the object and once again pressed his finger on the small green light, another coupon popping out. Repeating the same steps he grinned and crumpled up the sheet, tossing it down the isle. If he was allowed to do this all day he'd be considerably content, but one had to wonder with such a small person, where was his mother?

Cordain was walking down the aisle, normally he'd have an attendant do something like this but it was at Halcyon's behest, the kid absorbed information like a sponge. He was curious about the stores and what kinds of food there were.
"...And another thing father...You like having decent food that isn't burnt right?...That requires me to know exactly what we're getting..." Halcyon sighed as he saw the kid and walked up, "Hey, you know that's...not a toy right?"
The teen smiled as he kneeled down, crystals glittering in the store light.

Dull blue eyes blinked emptily up at the teen, attempting to use what he knew of the english language to respond. He grinned, happily staring at the boy before replying,
"Toy? See! I help shop...I..I am help shop."
So it wasn't perfect, but far better than he had expected. The young child's eyes dropped off to the side, pondering touching the taller boy's shiny shapes on his skin. If it was one thing that his mother had begun to teach him it was no touching, afterall he didn't want to end up in any trouble, or did he? Refusing the constant urges to touch the rough shapes Akki instead took interest in showing off the crumpled coupon in the palm of his hand. Unbending the small child's delicate hand he showed the teenage boy the paper before raising his arm high in the air and tossing it weakly down the isle. Afterwards a content face appeared on the child, according to his mind he was helping shop.

Halcyon laughed lightly, "Do you like throwing things?" he asked the child lightly, I bet you could throw him into a meat shredder the voice came to Hal's mind, far more clear and direct. Halcyon just maintained his smile, no signs of him hearing any voice in his head, nope, none at all.

"Throw Kis' book good. I throw Kis' book 'n name me Ak...Akk...Akk-i! Akki name!"
He was small enough that words would develop well, but as for sentences, well those were for later. For now he was doing good progress, Akki was a quick learner. His eyes still focusing on the boy's odd shapes and then his face again the boy put his small hand up to the back of his neck and rubbed it hard, mimicing what Kris had done earlier, his orange hair getting ruffled in the process.

Hal looks around and gets an evil grin as he hands the kid a little sticky device that looked like a long cord with a hand attached, "If you swing this...holding onto this end here." indicates the proper end which was a bit thicker on the cord, and not sticky, perfect for a handle.
"Then the hand will stick to things..." And hal demonstrates with his, which sticks to a shelf, slowly peeling off and coming back, "Like that!"

No longer were Akki's eyes filled with empty loneful dreams, as he watched the object his affection for it grew. Grasping the sticky object in his one hand he stretched it a bit, playing carefully and giggling all the time. Now it was time to try it out though, winging his arm back he flung it forwards only to hit some sort of box across the isle. The box fell over as he pulled back, laughing he smiled towards the tall teen.
"T-anks."
His "h's" just weren't the best and making a "Th" sound was even harder. Thus he stuck to what he could say, and put together. The young boy was highly amused by the day's events so far, everyone around him had been so nice.

Halcyon smiled brilliantly at the boy, "So where is your father or mother?" he asked the boy, "You shouldn't stray far from them, there are lots of bad people around so you need to be careful until you're big and strong like my dad back there." the teen motioned towards a very bored looking Cordain.

Akki looked unemotionally at the teen, trying to understand everything he'd just asked. Something about his mother or father, and bad people, and his own father. Looking around oddly he had just noticed that nobody other than the boy was around him, nobody he knew at least. The store seemed bustling with people on ever isle except the one he was in. As his memory served he had been with Kris and then wandered away. Tears swelling within the child's small dull blue eyes he shook his head, allowing the sticky toy to be left untouched for the moment.
"No Kis...No Kis?"
His expression was that of concern and confusion, apparently he thought the teen would know who he was speaking of and where to find her. He hadn't yet learned to call the young woman mom or her partner dad but eventually he would learn.

Halcyon sighs and looks around, "Whey don't we find Kis...what does she look like?"
Cordain blinks and lets out a yell, it wasn't loud but carried very well, unnaturally well, "Kis your child is in the cereal aisle! come get him!" He leaned against the shopping cart again.
Halcyon looked back, "...Not the best of methods but it works father."

'Great, at least someone found that little...'
Kris coughed, her thoughts were reveling in how much Akki was a child torment than a blessing. She laughed, wondering if one day he'd be a blessing, if he had to mature into it, if one day he'd make good on his purpose, or if he'd just stay as trouble making as he was today. She'd only wanted to go shopping, it would've taken all of twenty minutes to run in and run out with loads of supplies, but no, instead the little boy had to run off disappearing into god only knew where and sending her on a child hunt. Sighing the young woman walked slowly around the corner of one of the isles and then another, trying to locate the voice was easy considering the time it was. Late afternoon happened to be when most people were at work, which of course was making any shopping ten times easier.
"Akki?"
With two bags in tow a slender young woman with fairly long grayish hair turned the corner, staring at the child and his newly found friends. Rolling her eyes and letting loose another sigh she made her way closer to them, trying to get in a smile every so often.
"Thank you for finding him. Now that he's got walking down I can't keep him still."
Laughing she stood behind the small child, tapping her toe gently into his back. Akki had turned to look at her questionably before taking the sticky hand he'd gotten from the teen and flinging it at Kris. Instantly she looked down at him, somewhat upset but more in a joking manor. She bent down and picked him up. He was heavy to hold in one hand but somehow he managed to squirm into just the right position to fit comfortably. The two looked over at the strangers.
"I'm sorry if he was a bother..."
Kris said calmly, taking a look at all the crumpled pieces of paper.

Halcyon laughed lightly, "It was no problem at all. It amused me to run into someone as rambunctious and boisterous as him. I tend to get left with dour company like my father back there all day." he jabs a thumb back at Cordain.
Cordain took on a suddenly annoyed expression, "Hey, I am not dour." Halcyon glanced back and smirked, "No, you just spend your time hunting people, gathering information and making deals...with people who are probably better armed than the military."
Hal blinks and shakes his head, "Where are my manners, I'm Halcyon Vinataro, this is my father, Cordain Vinataro."

Nodding happily she held Akki carefully with the two bags on wrist, she chuckled for a moment before responding.
"He's going to be even more of a handful later, when he's taller."
Kris watched as the small child played with the sticky hand in his hands, apparently for the time being he was well occupied.
"Ah yes, nice to meet the two of you. My name's Kristina, but people call me Kris."
Her hair was now the home to the child's toy, but only for a moment before ripping it from her hair as he continued to play with it against his own hand and shoes. She honestly hadn't noticed up until that point that the teen whom she now knew as Halcyon had rather unusual skin, her sparkling pale blue eyes admired it for a moment but simply moved past that and continued on their polite introductions.
"Although I'm sure he already introduced himself, or tried...this little raskle is Akki. I'm....well you could say I'm his mother."
The last word rippled out of her mouth quickly and for once, painlessly. Had it been any other moment, any child of her own baring she might've stopped, for the simple fact of her selfishness. None the less the young woman grinned at the two men and then at her child, the whole thought of having a baby, of having someone to call son seemed irresistable and dreadful all wrapped in to one.

Halcyon smiled at her, "So how old is he?" he asked, "It's a pleasure to meet both of you."
Cordain looked back and then at Kristina, "Hmm...Hal isn't too bad, too inquisitive...but he's a quick learner thankfully."

"About 2, going on three. He's been babbling, then went right to words. I guess I might talk a lot around him, and he just sort of...picks it up."
Scratching the back of her head with one hand Akki was sitting there still playing with the toy. Nothing seemed to phase him when he had a toy, didn't matter if it was a paper ball or a set of blocks he could sit still in amusement for hours. She turned to Cordain and shrugged,
"They've got to learn one way or 'nother right? I think Akki might be a quick learner himself....Thank you both again for finding him."
The store was rather bare at the moment and except for the 'cha-ching' noises from the cashiers booths and almost whispering songs it seemed like they were the only people in there. It was odd for Kris to go shopping anyways, considering where she used to live it wasn't like she shopped for anything but black market guns. In her mind she burst into laughter, how different these two worlds were. If it had been a few months before this, there'd be child, not in her old city, but here...it was normal.
'Normal..'
She smirked lightly at the word.
