Empko moved through the Feileadh woods with ease, tail flicking back and forth. Her mind was on the visitor of the woods, and what she should tell Shadow. She didn't really like running into strangers for the fact that she had to report her meetings, but she could look past that for now. He had been an interesting character and perhaps Shadow would not be in the mood for her to have to report anything.

Her eyes half shut and her steps slowed, she was getting to a rather foggy part of the woods and certainly it was damp. She took another slow step forward and her paw sunk slightly into swamp-like lands. An impish grin crawled onto her face, the swamp that resided in the woods...

Which meant the grandmother tree was close!

Shadow had been following his story teller as he moved deeper and deeper into the woods. It didn’t bother him, the surroundings that is- he had grown up here and knew it all like the back of his paw. He just didn’t understand where she was going. He hated not knowing… this is why he kept close tabs on her. If she was to be his female and his alone he had to right?

Shadow was wacked, really. His mind set was so far out there it couldn’t be called back now. He just did what he thought was right without any regard for anyone around him. He didn’t care how she felt about him stalking her movements; he wasn’t ashamed to say he did. He didn’t trust her, he didn’t trust anyone.

After her stop she started to move through the much of the swamps, stepping carefully from root to root of trees which grew in the swamps. Her jewelery clanked together every now and then and her ears stayed perked. Her movements were getting a bit wavy, almost as if she was drunk. This was not the case though, she simply was going into an odd, dream-like trance. After a few minutes of traveling the swamp a huge tree came into view, the fog sat low in this part of the swamp.

She jumped to a stump that was near the grandmother tree, she had named this marvelous tree this because of it's grand size, it was larger than all of the other trees in the forest; she was sure of it. She sat down onto the stump and her head tilted up as she stared at the tree that she had known for so long.

It was a short period of time before she started to slip out of the trance. She kept staring upwards but her right ear twitched. Shadow was here... she was not unused to his stalking ways, it did not bother her... all of the time. "You do not wish to speak with me today, just look at me?" She called.

“I will just look until I decide otherwise.”

Shadow snarled some in anger. She was always testing his nerve. He couldn’t hate he though, something about him allured him to her and because of this he called her his. She was his and his alone; maybe that is why he followed her so, to make sure that it stayed that way.

He sniffed the air some and spoke out.

”What are you doing all the way out here anyway? It’s no place for a female wolf.”

She winced just slightly and bit on her lip to keep from smiling. Something about her anger both scared her and amused her, and in different circumstances it affected her in either way. Ah he only looked until he wanted to touch... it was a rare thing for him to just speak with her. Was this one of the rare moments.

She bowed her head slightly to the tree and whispered something under her breath for turning herself toward her alpha. "Ah but it is a place for a member of this pack, no danger threatens me here." She replied calmly and meekly. "This tree is the most grand in all of out lands... I like it here." She waited a moment to see what he would say to that and she stayed where she was.

Shadow sniffed the air again and sighed. She was so far out of it and he knew it, yet he still called her his. It made him wonder though, what it was that she could see and he couldn’t. She was a story teller but all of her tales made everyone believe. Maybe she did have a gift; maybe she was just full of it. He didn’t know but he liked to think he did. He knew everything after all.

Shifting his weight from side to side he stood for a moment and gazed at her and then to forest around them.

“Empko, you worry me.”

Is all that he could say to her. He was at a loss of words right now.

Hhmm, what was this? He was certainly in a strange mood... after a moment she rose and slipped from root to root, soon coming to the solid ground where he was. She bowed her head to him respectively but a small giggle escaped her maw before she could help it. She coughed to try and keep his attention away from it, her stomach twisting in knots. She did not want to upset him, after all.

"What should worry the shadows besides the sun?" She asked slowly and then smirked, shifting and moving away from him, past him. "And what is it about me that worries you, Shadow?" She was slightly offended that he worried about her but also it made her heart flutter, just slightly. She did not truly love this male. She didn't think he truly loved her, either. He took her almost as if he waking a prize... but still. It was nice to be worried about!

“Aye, but the sun sets and the shadows remain. It’s only a temporary worry, because no matter how bright the light, shadow will always remain.”

He snorted some and trotted past her himself. The earring upon his ear dangled some as he sat himself down upon the cold, mossy ground and gazed at her with fogy green eyes. He looked so much like his father, yet he was nothing like him. Shadow was not the alpha the pack wanted but… he was what they had. No matter how heartless he was he still cared enough to protect the pack and its pups, even though none of them were his.

He still did his job, despite the fact that half of the pack hated him and would kill him if given the chance.

“I am going to go out on a quest soon. We need to form allies with the packs to the north and south, so I am going to go against out packs code and leave to do this. I am going to take Hood with me. You will be left here in charge until I return, do you understand this?”

He didn’t bother to answer her last asked question.

This... this was why he was worried? She whimpered despite herself and half shook her head. "My in charge?" She asked, though she had heard perfectly well. She was no alphess, she was a story teller! "Shadow do you..." And then her brain clicked into gear and after a minute she gave him a coy smile. "Do you think it wise to leave the pack in this females mouth?" She said slowly and almost dangerously, almost hinting at a threat. It was a dangerous game she was playing with him, but she really did not want to be a leader...

"Would it not be wiser to send out other wolves to do your bidding?" She asked slowly, moving toward him.

“Silly female. You would think that, now wouldn’t you? But if I send someone else I won’t be able to represent our pack, my pack, I won’t be able to see what the other packs are like, and I need to go to gather information. Why send a messenger when you can send a king?”

He frowned at her for a moment and sighed.

“I need you here, because you silly little thing, I do not trust anyone else with this task. Though if you feel need to deny me I could always find another in your place, it's not hard to replace pawns..”

He was being rude, but he didn’t care. He needed to do this, he did.

“Now, will be a pawn or a queen?”

It was a valid point... but the whole reason he'd taken over the pack was because of his father before him and how he'd left, going against the code and their way of life. She stayed silent though, he wasn't going to change his mind.

Ah but did he truly trust her to keep his pack safe and not follow in his foot steps? Of course.. she'd just told herself she did not want leader duties. She bowed her head after a minute. "Ah, you say queen but you also said it was easy to replace pawns.." She trailed off, it wasn't important. Though she could not lie to herself and say it didn't hurt to be a pawn. She knew this fact, it was just more painful when spoken out loud.

"I will stay as your puppet on the throne until you and your brother return." She murmered softly, bowing her head again. "And when is it that you leave?"

“If you are a queen then you are no pawn, but if you deny me then you will be a pawn and I will replace you- as much as I do not want to.”

He nodded slowly and spoke out again.

“I know what you are thinking. Adamu did the same thing but you see, he didn’t leave for the good of the pack, he left for himself and he didn’t bother to leave anyone in charge as where I am. I will not do what he did, I am going to make this pack strong, you understand?”

He seemed to have an idea of what he wanted though… Shadow often changed his mind. He was so impulsive after all.

“I do not ask much from you, Hood and I will be gone for five days and when I return you may have whatever you want for aiding in this pack’s defense.”

Her stomach crawled. She was no queen, to her Shadow was tied down by being a ruler. She wanted to be free, always. But she did not want to be replaced either, her pride would not let her have that. "I understand and I will comply." She bowed her head yes and when looked him in the eye, not knowing what else to say.

Five days they would be gone.. nothing seemed too needed for defensive matters. The pack should remain safe for that time.
