Granted, my esteem for her has dropped recently, but that's not her fault. It's just that her first Limit Break is called Greased Lightning, and the lightning is purely metaphorical. Gets me on this train of thought that says Materia is the least of her problems.

But anyway, moving on from the topic that I'm a freak, and acknowledging that she has nothing to do with other greases and metaphorical lightnings that be, I just don't see what's so hateable about her. She steals your Materia, sure, but it's not like you can't fight the monsters without it, and it's not for any enemy cause, unlike the Keystone thing. I can acknowledge hating Aeris or Tifa for horning in on your One True Pairing, even if I don't do that, but Yuffie just isn't serious competition.

So tell me, what's behind the attitiude?

Actually, this really depends on whether you use her or not. Her limit break, Doom of the Living, is technically the ninja's answer to Omnislash. It's extremely powerful, and can do just as much damage as Omnislash can if you give her the right equipment and have her at a decent level. She's pretty good with materia, and as a long range fighter, can stay in the back row and deal the same amount of damage as she would in the front row while taking in only a minimal portion of the damage.

I noticed the whole "everyone hates Yuffie because she stole my materia" thing too, though. In my high school, one of my friends said that they hated Yuffie because she was a "thieving b*tch," but when I started explaining why that wasn't a good enough reason to hate her (because it shows imcompetence on the part of the gamer for not being able to fight WITHOUT materia), he was unable to provide any further reasons for hating her, aside from the all to common "she's annoying" reason. The way her dialogue was made in the North American version reeks of stereotypes, like how they translated Barret's dialogue. I've verified with people who've actually played the original Japanese version that she's much more tolerable and nicer in the Japanese version than the American version. It's just one of those things that are lost in translation. Sadly, it makes people hate her so... cry

I don't really care for yuffie. She could steel all my meteria if she wanted. I barley use it. Maybe, revive,life. Is the only thing. I use the most. Evan in boss battles. But, i'm thinking about a new game using difrent chars. like.

well I never said I hated yuffie, I was just explaining why everyone hates her...
I never really used Yuffie so much, I always sticked with one party, but nevertheless I got her to lvl 99, and her limit breaks are good too... and as for the stealing materia stuff... I never really bothered, I mean, I know she stole my materia, but I knew I would get it back anyways, if not I would rip apart my FF7 CD's and I wouldn't be here to tell you I'm playing FF7 again

Quite frankly, I adore Yuffie. She's a ninja, what's not to like?
