He had left for a while, not a long while of course, just a short one. Something inside him held him back for leaving as long as they did. He couldn't let himself wander too far, that constant nag of her was still in the back of his mind.

Plus he met his youngest sister, Epesi as well as meeting the rudest mare alive-Tiffany. Which wasn't a pleasent meeting. And Toquah'Kan, his youngest brother, which had it's problems. But worst of all, he ran into Diabetia again...and not only that, but she was pregnant! And trying to kill her little ones! Thank the heavens he put a stop to that, but that Kalona still had her temper. All reasons as to why the tall, handsome tanned stallion decided to return home. Or whatever the heck the god forsaken piece of land that they lived on was called. Home was where Lalit and Mahiri were, not there.

But Astia was there, at least Bairn hoped she still was. As soon as their children grew into adulthood and took off to lead their own lives, the couple just kind of stayed together for a little bit and then he took off, with her permission of course. He wanted to see someone, and coincendently that someone happened to be Bliss. But that idiot freak of a stallion wasn't in any of the places he searched-so Bairn came home. He needed to see her again, needed to nuzzle her and talk to her-something that surprisingly wasn't able to go through since having children.

It changed both of their lives forever, if not Bairn's then definitely Astia's. She didn't want Kiefer, Tahlia and Abattie at first, the idea of motherhood was completely out of the question for her. But they came, they grew and now they were gone. Was his mate handling that well? His own mother did pretty good with having three kids that almost disappeared as soon as they were even foals. And now Mahiri had more kids which proved to help her deal with the first three. But the golden mare...was she okay with the same issue? She loved the three of them dearly, he knew...and didn't like to be left alone.

Poor Astia, truly. Bairn's only wish now that his life seemed to be pretty damn close to perfect was that Kiefer, Attie and Tahlia came back permanetly. And that all of them, Aruna and Artemis's full family included went to go see his parents again. One big, obnxious, happy family, together forever. With foals left and right, and Astia smiling. He wanted to please her, he wanted to see her smile for real.

To make her the way she was before they had children, and obviously after he gave in to her love. Astia young again, that's what Bairn wanted. Not physically, but emotionally and mentally. A little mare, the innocent, no worry type female that he feel in love with in the first place. Or rather didn't fall in love with but gave in to.

That's why Bairn returned to the place that they 'stayed'.

Dark brown hoofs entered the clearing, the same matching colored eyes scanned the area, looking hopefully for any sign of yellow.

She had been thinking. Astia's eyes were glued to the little stream in that clearing, thinking. About life. Her life. Hell, she had come to this land, what, almost a year ago? No, over a year. What a naive little thing she had been, splashing in puddles and smiling stupidly at everything. And here the mare was now, a mother and a mate. She had matured from a joyful, idiotic soquili to a wry, stubborn one. And in doing so, she had gotten Bairn. Tia smiled softly at the thought of her mate, so huge and golden-tan. He had once been so different, too.

How things change. Her children- the ones she had not wanted, but welcomed as warmly as the mare knew how, had ran off as soon as they came, it seemed. And Astia missed them.

With a little sigh, she looked up, her golden coat gleaming. No need to think about the past, right? She had to cheer up! Now where was Bairn? The stallion would be flitting about most of them time, but she didn't mind. It made their reunions all the sweeter.

"Bairn?" A flash of brown caught her eyes, an she span around to face it.

"Bairn."

He heard his name ever so faint, as if it was unsure of itself. But it shouldn't be because it was right, and he was right. She was there, like he expected. Staring at herself in the water, it appeared, too.

"Astia!" The tanned stallion called back, a happy wide grin placed on his face as his legs kicked towards her as hard as they could. They were together again, after the longest seperation yet, and he was terribly happy.

Bairn laughed as he reached her-nuzzling his mate softly. "Astia..." he repeated, although much softer. It was so great to feel her tiny body against his once more, to see her pretty and perfect coat and to stare into those bright green eyes. All emotions he pushed out once before they met were able to finally come, but only when they were together. Love, basically was all it was.

True love? Possibly, not as strong as Mahiri and Hania because they were destined from the start to always love eachother, and their long seperations never bothered either of them at all. But there was love and that was all that mattered. An emotion hardly taken seriously by most of the idiot ignorant soquili that lived these lands.

"Astia," Bairn began letting a little pause go in between his words. "I've returned."

"I've noticed, dear." Astia gave an amused, affectionate little snort. Grinning, she nuzzled his cheek. "I've missed you, Bairn." Her voice was soft, and she smiled up at him. Okay, okay, enough of introductions, she wanted to go somewhere! the mare had been cooped up in the clearing for far too long.

Cozying up beside him, the mare rested her neck against his, adoring eyes never leaving his face. They had been through so much, including a numerous amount of rough patches, but lord, was it good to have someone to love. And it was even better to have an incredible someone to love.

Feeling she didn't need to say anything, Astia simply leaned against him, smiling.

He laughed at his previous comment and her's next. Of course he returned, but this time he meant it for real. Like as if to say to her he wasn't ever going to leave again. Dark brown eyes looked down at her as she nuzzled him and Bairn smiled. "Missed me? Good heavens, Astia I've missed you more. Trust me, otherwise I'd still be out looking for that dolt." He carried the same sarcastic tone in his voice like he always had, although it did have a hint of softness in it like her own.

When his mate rested her neck against his, he put the pressure back, so the two of them were leaning on eachother. He looked back at her, their eyes meeting. A rush of happiness went through the tanned stallion and it made him feel pretty darn good.

Breaking the perfect silence that was between them, Bairn stated, "Is it bad that I feel like my Father right now?"

"Dolt? Do you mean Bliss? He may be a bit dull, but he is in no way a dolt." Her voice took on a firm note for a second, but quickly desolved again. She could sense the importance of this, and she savoured being with her loved one. No, Tia would not get mad today. "And I did miss you, Bai, so much." The mare nuzzled him again.

Leaning against eachother. It seems that's what they had been doing in their early stages, leaning on one another. Her smile grew a little wider, and her green eyes closed in content. All was well in her little world.

"Well, that depends, I suppose. I've yet to meet your father, so I'm only going to guess he's horrible, in some way? Or happy, I would hope?"

Whatever, she could always say what she wanted about Bliss, anyone could...but in Bairn's mind he'd always be the same. With a sarcastic smile, the tall handsome stallion responded to his mate's semi firm voice. "Say what you want, love. I hear talk he's a father now." A quick nodd with the head and a returned nuzzle and Bairn felt comfortable. Not like he didn't before but he had to tell Astia of the news of Bliss, of why he went out searching for the character that he personally hated.

But her next comment about his father made him laugh. "Ah, Tia...horrible? No, happy? Of course! What stallion would be more lucky, mated to my mother! Of course he's happy, my love and so am I. Very much so, although I worry for Aruna..."
