rosesandhoses Heres the numbers up 2 10 in jampenese. Just a few corrections: 1 - ichi 2 - ni 3 - san 4 - yon or shi 5 - go 6 - roku 7 - nana or shichi 8 - hachi 9 - kyuu or kuu 10 - juu Note: these are merely numbers, when you want to count things, you need to use counters. For example: 'Two desks' is 'futatsu no tsukue' or 'tsukue ga futatsu', not 'ni tsukue'. sango-grrl moshitmoto (your name here) desu = my name is ____ I have no idea what 'moshitmoto', but here are some ways of saying your name: watashi wa desu (plain/formal) watashi wa to iimasu (formal) watashi wa to moushimasu (very formal, use when talking to VIPs)
'watashi' can be replaced with 'boku, ore, watakushi, etc...' depending on the situation.
I might as well post some other stuff:
Now you know that ' desu' means 'I am '. Let's look at other ways of using 'desu'.
'desu' simply means 'it is'. Casual/plain for of 'desu' is 'da'
Example: 'inu desu' - 'It is a dog' 'akai desu' - 'It is red' 'oishii desu' - 'It is delicious'
The past tense of 'desu' is 'deshita' (casual form is 'datta')
Examples: 'oishii deshita' - It was delicious
Now lets look at a verb:
to go - ikimasu (iku)
Note how the verb ends in 'masu', this is the 'masu' form. There are three forms of speech: plain, 'masu' and keigo. I put the plain form of the verbs in brackets above.
Plain form is for everyday use, 'masu' form is for more formal occaisions, and 'keigo' is very polite and used manly by hospitality staff. I won't bother explaining keigo in detail because the chances are it will only confuse you, and you probably won't use it anyway.
To say you are going somewhere: ni ikimasu
To say you went somewhere (past tense): ni ikimashita
Examples: 'gakkou ni ikimasu' - I go to school Examples: 'umi ni ikimashita' - I went to the beach
I might post some more stuff later...
