This is the thread meant for Kohana's buying of Katsua with her sister Kami.
Only Night Night For Nighty and the Bellus Pupa staff may post. Ask Nighty if you wish to join.
Users: Night Night For Nighty (Nighty) and Kami.no.Kurai (MS) Characters: Kohana, Katsua, Kami, Yoru, Aki Setting: Bellus Pupa Summary: After the Egyptian Death Festival at Divinations, Kohana pulled Kami into Bellus Pupa, despite her complaints. Kami convinced herself in her mind that it was fine for her sister to buy a doll. This would give her another doll to study and more things to use against Bellus Pupa. Kohana named her doll Katsua.

If Kami had had her way she would never go anywhere near Bellus Pupa, especially not unarmed. It didn’t seem she had a choice in the matter, for her younger sister was very persuasive, especially when she started pulling the yelling Kami toward the store. She had been completely against it, screaming out her reasoning in the middle of the street as she was pulled from the door of Divinations toward the doll shop. She didn’t care that she was receiving strange looks from pedestrians or the fact that someone from the two shops may hear. She just wanted Kohana to listen! This of course did not work, and this was the reason she was now grumbling inside of the store, edging her way into a corner. Kami was having some difficulty at this, though, for she did not want to be responsible for any broken dolls, so she did not want to get too close. Instead she was standing awkwardly in the corner, shivering in the coldness of the store.
It also seemed Yoru recognized where he was, even if he had never been back in the store since he was bought. The place had made him go stiff, eyes wide as he stared at the inside of his owner’s bag. He was not afraid, and he would never admit it if he was. It was just odd being there, and he had no clue on how to react. If Kami actually paid more attention to the little doll she would be overjoyed at his sudden stillness, glad he was not going to get into any trouble. Unfortunately, she did not, and she remained nervous in the corner as she kept a watchful eye over her sister.

Kohana looked back at Kami. "Kami, can I have a doll? I won't let animals get to it or anyone! I'll take good care of it!" Kohana said running up to her and put her hands on her shoulders and stared jumping up and down yelling, 'Please!' over and over again. She fell on her butt and stared up at her with puppy dog eyes.
Tears started to form in her arm like a little baby. They didn't fall onto her cheeks or even leave her eyes. Kohana didn't even go, 'Waah!' "K-Kami... Please! I'll love you forever!" Kohana whined and put her hands over her eyes and started to cry. "K-Kami! You love me, right!" Kohana shouted that over and over again as she ran to the counter and sat back down in front of it pouting and breathing heavily.

There was a reason Kami had trouble saying no to Kohana: the girl was just plain annoying. The only way she ever seemed to stop was through violence or by someone fulfilling her wishes. Ignoring her just seemed to turn it into a game, and it started getting bad when Kohana began to enjoy the annoyances she was putting on people. Kami doesn’t trust Bellus Pupa, or for that matter, like it, but she did had to admit that they made good dolls. She hoped this was the reason Kohana wanted one. Even though she knew her sister had seen Yoru before, Kami did not know how much attention the girl paid to him and Kami’s rantings. Of course it could also be a devious plan in order to annoy Kami, but usually Kohana could not manage to plan anything like this. She just wanted a doll, and she probably wouldn’t mind the consequences. After all, maybe another doll would be a good thing. Kami would have something else to study, and maybe it would actually be normal! She already knew Yoru was different from many other dolls, so she couldn’t relate to other owners, but if she was around a normal one…well, that might just benefit her, and it would save any other unexpecting customers from buying him. Finally Kami had convinced herself of the good points, and even though she knew she would regret it later, she would go with it for now. “Sure…”

The yelling did not seem to faze the poor shopkeeper, who had been sitting back watching the whole thing. She merely put on her best shopkeeper smile (which she always seem to have, so this wasn’t too hard) and made sure her posture was correct. After she had gone through the checklist in her mind, she was ready for action, “Welcome,” she called above the wails from the strange girl, “Welcome to Bellus Pupa.”

Kohana smiled happily as she heard a girl's voice and looked back seeing a pretty young lady. "Hello... Can I have a doll?" Kohana asked politely. Kohana stood still, her hands by her side and a smile on her face. She looked back at Kami who was still in the corner and sighed. Kohana walked over there and grabbed her hand. "Come on Kami..." Kohana smiled and went back up to the girl holding onto Kami's arm. Kohana smiled at the girl. "Kami said I could, if you don't mind..." Kohana's voice was quiet and showed that she was a little shy.

Aki did not seem to even notice Kohana’s change in attitude, or if she did, she did not show it. She just beamed back at her with a glowing smile and bright eyes. These eyes, however, did not seem to look at Kohana but rather through her. If no one was in front of her, she just stared forward. She answered as if she was completely listening, though, so one could not say anything against that. It was just that she had the tendency not to look at people while they spoke, but she did this without looking shy. It was more odd than anything. “Please take a look around.”

Kami never could understand Kohana’s sudden change in attitude when it came to meeting new people. Suddenly the annoying girl she was used to was shy and polite. It was this reason most other people saw her as an angel, but their family knew the truth… Kami allowed her sister to tug her toward the woman, unwilling to cause too many problems in this shop. She attempted a warm smile, but it came out awkward and forced. She had nothing against the girl even if she did work here, for she was kind and polite. She sold Kami Yoru, and she was quite happy with her for that. “Just go find yourself a doll, Kohana,” she whispered to her sister, keeping her eyes locked on the shopkeeper. Even if she was fine with Aki, she could never completely trust anyone related to Bellus Pupa.

Kohana smiled happily and let go of her sister's arm and looked around the dolls. Tall ones, short one, skinny ones, fat ones... Kohana looked though them all. She looked near the back corner and saw a tall skinny doll with light brown hair, dark eyes, and a dorky outfit. Kohana smiled as she picked it up carefully and walked to her older sister. "I like him... He's cute..." Kohana said cheerfully, holding him carefully in her arms with a huge smile that showed her joy. She laid her head on the side of Kami's arm humming a cheery tune. "Do you like him, Kami...?" Kohana asked giving her the puppy dog eyes. "Oh, I already love him..." Kohana looked at Kami and stuck out her tongue. "I love him more then you! I think I'll call him Katsua..." Kohana said.

What could Kami say? She had to admit, he was cute, for a doll, and Kohana liked him. It’s not like she could turn back now and tell her no. She gave a smile to her sister, which was just as weak as the one toward the shopkeeper. “I like him.” She tried to ignore the annoying factor in her sister’s voice, which she could always pick up on, and focus on the other side… “And that’s a good name.” Kami uneasily shifted her weight from foot to foot, uncomfortable with her sister lying on her in public. In an attempt to ignore that as well, she turned back to the cheerful Aki. “I’ll pay. How much?”

Aki watched the conversation between the two for a moment before searching beneath the counter for a box, which she carefully pulled out and placed on the counter. She seemed to think about taking the doll away from the customer for a moment, but she decided against it, ringing up the price while he was still in the girl’s hands. She told Kami the price, smiling just as always. As she did so she reached her hands out toward Kohana, as if to take the doll, but she did not attempt to touch him. “Do you want him in the box, ma’am?”

Kohana looked at Aki's hands but continued to hold Katsua close. "No thank you," she murmured. "Thank you Kami, Ma'am..." Kohana smiled at Kami and moved her head and stared at Kami. "I knew you would like him Kami, he is very cute!" Kohana said. "Is sissy going to be at home or is she going to be off somewhere again...?" Kohana asked. She was talking about her second oldest sister, being the youngest of the two. Kami was her oldest and she had no brothers.

Just as always Kohana was asking random questions that Kami could not answer. “Like I know,” she answered back, snarling slightly in a jokingly way. “I just know where I’m going to be.” And where Yoru was going to be. Who really cared about him, though? Well, Yoru obviously did, but that’s beside the point… “Why do you ask?” Kami took hold of her sister’s arm, slowly trying to tug her toward the door. She gave a nod and mumbled her thanks to Aki before resuming on her slow pull. Kami had been here long enough, and she wanted to leave… She didn’t know if Aki recognized her, but she didn’t want to take the chance that she soon would. She had to leave. Now. And she would later have to explain to her sister about the doll and what to expect, but she wouldn’t do it here… No, she would find another time away from other people who might be spying or could look at her as crazy. Kohana didn’t count.

Aki withdrew her hands, not at all embarrassed by being refused. She had no reason to be, for the customer was always right. They could do what they wanted. She just continued with her warm smile, which was much better than Kami’s and used much more often. She bowed a bit as Kami began to drag her sister away. “Thank you. Have a nice day.” Even something almost robotic and rehearsed somehow sounded sincere in her overly-cheerful voice.

"Okay! Thank you!" Kohana said waving, holding Katsua carefully in her hand and got janked out of the store. "Kami, you are a big, nice, meanie! If that even makes sense..." Kohana said and laid her head on Kami's arm. "Thank you... I really like Katsua... I just need to make a place in my room for him under all my junk..." Kohana whined, placing Katsua on her shoulder in a way he wouldn't fall. "Kat is so cute..."
