Kiefer trotted along the edge of the stream. It was quite the humid day, as if the air was thick with water, but just unwilling to rain. "This is horrible" he groaned, splashing into the stream a bit. Little minnows changed their paths and worked around his hooves.
The stallion sloshed through the water, keeping his balance the best he could with the slippery rocks. Summer was certainly not his favorite season. Hot, humid, buggy. What was good about it, anyway? He much prefered winter, where it was dry and the bugs were gone. Or spring, because the world seemed to burst out in joy of this season. Fall was good too, because it was like winter, only less cold. All the leaves falling was nice too. But summer...just..ick.

It wasn't long since Charlamagne strayed from the teepee and found herself at the stream that flowed not too far from it. Her tail flicked as she glanced into the water, lowering her head to take a sip of the refreshing water. She was already standing in the water, hoping to escape the heat, but it nor taking a drink helped.
The small mare wasn't quite used to the heat of summer just yet, having always been fond of the colder climate that happened in the winter. Her dark grey, spotted coat didn't seem to help with the tempurature either. With a small huff, not being able to take the heat much longer, she lowered herself into the water and began to roll around in it, chuffling happily from the coolness of it.

Kiefer continued to trot down the stream. He did not enjoy the heat, but he was beginning to learn how to ignore it. Plus, he knew that the way the stream was flowing, it must be near a body of water. There he could really cool of, so it would be worth the wait.
Before long he heard some splashing around the bend. Could it be another soquili, or perhaps a little animal playing? Only one way to find out, of course!
He turned the bend, and saw a truley peculiar mare. He had never seen such interesting marks before, and it intrigued him. Oh course, he shouldn't be surprised. There was such a variety, the coat possibilities were infinite, although he couldn't help but be surprised every time he found a new one.
"Hey" he said immediately, not wanting to alarm her. The last thing he wanted to do was have the mare think he was sneaking up on her "I'm Kiefer" he added again, deciding that saying that would do best to start things off.

The small mare continued to roll about in the stream for a bit longer before stopping and resting on her legs. She nickered softly at the feeling of the cool water dripping down her fur.
Charlamagne remained resting there for a bit longer, using her tail to splash water onto her when need be. That was, until she heard someone call out to her. She jumped just slightly before looking around, seeing a stallion not too far from her. "H-Hello. I'm Charlamagne." She replied softly, slowly pulling herself onto her feet.

Kiefer grinned, trying not to laugh at the mare. Not in a mean way, but just a good natured laugh. "Nice to meet you, Charlamange. Sorry for sneaking up on you...just trying to cool off in the stream" he said, nodding.
"Quite the hot day, isn't it?" he said, looking up into the sky, it was completely cloudless. Great, no way to escape the heat. The stallion walked over to the mare, standing a few feet away, and flicked his mane out of his eyes. Darn thing, always getting in his face.
A few little fish swam around his legs, the water was a bit deeper here, almost to his knees. He let himself sit down, enjoying the cooling effect it had on him. Nothing was better on a hot day then cooling off in a stream. Except maybe the ocean, but he was quite a ways away from there right now.

Charlamagne couldn't help but blush lightly at the thought of the stallion catching her rolling about in the stream. She probably looked like a fool. "It's nice to meet you as well Keifer. It's alright, I should have been paying more attention." She replied, smiling softly at him.
She watched him walk closer to her before standing not too far away from her. Her tail flicked lightly, the water that was still trapped in the hair transfered to her fur and acted as another cooling method for the time being. "Yes, it is. Never thought it would get so hot."

Kiefer looked down the stream a bit "I bet if we follow it, we will get to a deeper river...or a lake or pond...or maybe even the ocean" he said, nodding in the direction the water was flowing at a slightly downhill rate.
"It seems like that everyday. You just think it is going to cool down, and the next day is just...hotter" he said, bringing himself back out. Tons of water cascaded down from his coat, splashing into the water. He shook off.
Only afterwards did he realize that he had shot tons of water all over the place, including where Charlamange was. "Oh...sorry" he mumbled, feeling a bit stupid.

"You really think so?" Charlamagne asked, looking in the direction he had as well. This was her first time visiting the stream in the forsest, so she didn't know where it lead. She knew the one by her teepee either; lead up through the mountains or down to a lake. It seemed to go further, but she never ventured past to find out.
"Well, it's given in the Summer, but as it gets closer to Fall, it'll cool." She said assurringly. When the water he shook off splashed upon it, she squealed just lightly from the initial shock of the coldness on her already reheating fur, but was fine after that. At his apology, she giggled. "It's quite alright. No harm done."

"Oh, yes. The water must go somewhere. If we follow it from where it is flowing from, we might find a mountain. Or higher grounds, at least. But that could be quite the walk. I imagine the ocean or pond is much closer" he said, beginning to slosh through the water. "Well, would you like to go then?"
"Oh, of course. I can't say which season is my favorite, but I think spring is up there. And Fall. Winter is too colt, summer too hot." he said, nodding, also very glad that she had accepted his apology. He knew there were some very high-strung mares around, but he had had the fortune of not meeting any quite yet. But he heard stories, ones that would freak out at the very thought of getting dirty. That was hard to believe, though.

She nodded to him slightly at his response. "I guess that's true. I'm just used to the stream near the clearing I guess." She told him before slowly following after him. "Sure thing... it would be nice to see the ocean for the first time."
Her tail flicked lightly as she lifted her legs high as she walked, so they didn't drag in the water. "I honestly like the Winter. I can stand the cold pretty well, but that's not why I like the season. It's the sight of the snow falling to the ground, it's a really beautiful sight."

Kiefer flicked his ear. Never seen the ocean? It made him smile a bit. It wasn't to long ago that Autumn was showing him the ocean for the first time. Hopefully this mare would find it as amazing as he did. "There is nothing like the ocean in the summer, it's just perfect"
He moved through the water with out much of a care of weather he was splashing or not. Did it really mater? He was a strong stallion, and didn't notice any resistance from the water.
"That is true" he said, remembering winter, or at least as much as he could. It was a long time ago. Well, not really. But at the time he had his mind set on constant exploration, and saw no need to stop and smell the...well, certainly not roses in winter. But he never stopped to take in the view.

"Oh really? I'll have to take your word for it until I see it for myself then." She replied, smiling softly. She had always wanted to see the ocean, but could never bring herself to go past the lake, something inside her just made her clam up and freeze.
Charlamagne continued following after, picking up her pace to a small canter to catch up before slowing back down to a walk. She was a small mare, and she didn't mind, but that didn't mean it didn't have it downfalls.
She nodded in response. "Yeah, but everyone is different and likes different things." She told him. She didn't want him changing his views on anything just because she said something otherwise toward her favor.

"I'm sure it isn't to far" he said, noticing the brook slowly getting deeper and quicker, perhaps transforming into a stream or river. It was nearly up to his knees now. It felt nice, but the stallion wasn't sure how long he would be able to keep his footing. He looked over to Charlamange. She had caught up, but the mare was a bit smaller, so it would probably be tougher for her.
"Well, honestly" he said, on the subject of the seasons "During winter I was caught up in other stuff, so I never had a chance to appreciate it" he said, then looked over at the bank. The water was getting rather bad.
"Maybe we should get on land" he said, feeling his hooves slip a bit on the bottom now and then, and the water rush and push him from all directions. "Knowing me, I will fall down in this" he added, beginning to edge towards the side.

She nodded in response to him saying that he was sure the ocean wasn't too far. She sure hoped so, it was now getting harder for her to walk, let alone keep up with him. With the water up to his knees, it was almost mid-thigh to her in comparison.
She was already beating him to the punch when he mentioned going to land, quickly as she could sloshing to the shore of the river. She looked to him and nodded. "I agree. I would probably fall as well, or just get swept up in the current." She stated as she inched closer and closer to the land with each step, though having slipped at least once or twice.

Kiefer went next to her, a bit behind at first, but moving through the water with a bit more ease because of his size. Soon he was on the shore. "I haven't been down this way before, but the water must lead to the ocean. It might now have as nice of a beach as the other river had led too, but I'm sure the ocean will be just as soothing" he said, taking a few steps away from the bank before shaking off the water.
The heat almost immediately began to take over, and in seconds the coolness of the water was gone. "Well, I hope we get there soon. Being in the cool water makes going into the heat worst" he said, shaking his head.
