A red blue wolf was lying down in a meadow of tall grass. His eyelids were shut but he was not asleep. Every so often his ears would twitch and his nose would wiggle. Oki was feeling the enviroment around him. Listening to the wind as it blew and smelling the earth and its beings all around. It was some what peaceful. Taking a deep sigh and opening his eyes again it was like falling back into lifes fast pace.
The day was calm, there was a nice breeze but it wasnt too over powering. The sun was sending its blessing to all that would except it and the clouds moved over head while the gentle meadow grass danced in the gentle breeze. This was the way things should always be. But Oki knew that life was not that simple. He knew deep down in his soul that he would have to keep moving from area to area. Standing still was not an option for a wolf, he would have to go where the herd had gone if he wanted to survive. But it was nice to take a moment and absorb the enviroment around, he wished sometimes that life could be so simple but he knew that would never be so. Only a fool would believe in such things.

Not that far away from where Oki lay in the meadow, just inside a small patch of springy polars, another wolf stood. Though, her views on life were completely different. She longed for adventure, to have everything in life exciting and fun, and loathed the slow and simple ways that she assumed life ran at. A grey nose raised to the air, nostrils twitching as she took in the fresh scents of the grass. Two tails swayed back and forth gently whilst the pup bounced from paw-to-paw anxiously. Just a moment ago she'd been stalking a small, furry bunny around and now 'poof!' she couldn't find it anymore! Of course, it might've been that singing bird that caught her attention and made her lose sight of the rabbit, or one of the various other things that were amusing enough to keep her occupied.
Alice's bright blue eyes searched the meadow, looking for any signs of the rabbit, but they caught something else, something much more curious than an old rabbit. Red, navy, blue, white, the big, strange lump in the grass found her gaze. What was it? Sniffing the air once more, she found a familiar scent, not she, not mother or siblings, but familiar, like the scent of the male in the forest. Of course, he'd been a rude old fart, but possibly this thing could be different. So, as quietly as she could, she started across the meadow towards Oki, keeping low and watching the thing with awe and caution. Coming ever closer to the creature, she pressed her belly to the ground, behind a long shaft of grass where she could peer through at it.

A smile stretched apon the males maw. Oki had not heard nor seen the young wolf but he had smelt her. Her scent had mingled with the scent of the grass and dirt giving her away to him. But of course Oki pretended not to have smelt her. He didnt know if it was a pup or an adult or if it wasmale or female, but he knew that this wolf ment him no harm. If he or she did they would have already made their move. Oki continued to lay there in the grass pretending to be at bliss with nature.
The wind was kicking up now and making the tall grass move ever so calmly. Oki's furr was also affected as the wind blew through. It was a nice feeling.

Alice blinked as the strange creature's maw spread in a smile. How strange it was that this thing was so like her, yet, different. She'd never been around any other wolves in her life, besides her mother and siblings, whom were still different than these strange animals she had encountered. At it's strange state of ease around her, she blinked curiously, raising her head to peer over the grass over at it. Was it dead? Or maybe it was suicidal, that's why it didn't move, even in the face of a predator. Or maybe, it was cowering in fear of her fearful awesomeness! That must be it! She puffed out her chest and licks her chops, an easy meal for a wonderful killer like herself, or, at least she thought she was. Crouching down once more, her double tails flicked anxiously, until WHAM!, she pounced onto Oki's back (I am assuming he's laying on his stomach, if not, change that to stomach), and bit his tail with her almost harmless puppy teeth, being as fearsome as she could muster.

Oki let out a fake yelp as she bite into his tail. "Oh no," He started hiding the smile that was now on his maw, "A fierce and mighty wolf has gotten me," He was trying his best not to chuckle, "What ever shall I do?" He rolled over to his side in deafeat, "Oh mighty wolf warrior your skills in hunting are great, will you spare me?" His eyes were now closed and his tongue was hanging out of his mouth.
He didnt mind putting on a show for such a little pup, in fact he was glad it was just a little pup. He wasnt in the mood today to be fighting any wolves off. This pup seemed to be serious in what she was doing but her baby teeth didnt even break his skin. He did not mind taking some time out of the day to amuse or even just humor this pup alittle. She seemed like a good soul.

The pup raised her head from her work biting at his tail as he started to talk, grinning from ear to ear and puffing out her stomach proudly. She really thought that she had him, she was sure she had him, he was practically screaming his defeat!
"You have fought well, strange creature, and for that I might spare you. But first....you must answer some questions." she said, sitting down by his shoulders and looking at Oki curiously.

Oki opened one eye looking at the pup square in face trying his best not to show the smile that was on his maw. A question? He wondered what kind of question this young pup had to ask. He studied this pup closely with his eye.
"Oh merciful pup, what question do you ask of me to answer?" He began again. He was sure the pup thought that he had defeated him. He didnt want to spoil her fun by being a bad sport so he continued to play along.

As the other wolf's eye opened, her second tail gave a wary twitch, before calming down and laying opposite of her first as they curled around her body. She shuffled a bit on his fur, the metal earrings in her floppy ear making a small sound as she did so.
"What are you?" she questioned, completely serious. It was not she, it was not mother, it was not siblings. It was like the other, but not she.

Oki's smile widened, he could not hide it anymore. This pup was new to this world and did not know a fellow wolf when she saw one. Oki was amused by this.
"Oh great huntress," He began again making sure he was careful not to let his laughter leave him. "I am but a mere wolf like you. We are the same kind. I am not your mother or your siblings but we are alike you and me." He said as he turned over onto his belly now facing the little she wolf face to face. She was pretty scrappy but she had alot of spirit in her. Oki liked that.

The pup was taken aback at this answer. But, he looked nothing like her! He didn't seem to act anything like her, how could they be the same? So, she voiced her opinions on this, looking at Oki confusedly. "You're nothing like me? How can we be alike? And as the same, how can you be a wolf?"
"And who are you?" she yipped, cocking her head as she tried to compute what he had said.

Oki blinked not sure how to answer the questions this young one had just asked him. He stood up, revealing that he was quite big, even as full grown wolf stardards go. Looking down at the pup he gave her a smile. His tail drooped down so it was in plane view of the pup.
"See my tail, Its like yours, only I have one." He then lowered his head, "I have a muzzle and ears and nose and eyes like you too." His paws were now in view for the young pup, "And my paws are much bigger then yours but they are the same." He knelt down to the pups eye level so they saw eye to eye.
"We are not exactly the same but we are the same spieces." He hoped that answered her question. She was a cute pup full of questions. He knew she would have some more for him. This didnt bother him much though. He didnt mind taking the time to help a young pup out.

Alice moved off of the larger wolf, or so he called himself, and watched his head raise high above hers, a pang of wariness hit her and she stiffened lightly. But that hesitation subsided as he gave her a smile, the femme giving the large male one in reply with a friendly swish of her tails.
She sat down as he explained the similarities, but she was still confused. Sure, they looked the same in some ways, but that never meant that they were the same. "But, then why do I have two tails? Why is my ear drooping and what is it attached? And what's a species?" The inquiring young pup was full of curiosity for these things that she couldn't comprehend.

Oki knew another wave of questions were bound to pop out of the little pup. He wasnt sure how to explain all the questions that she had just asked but he would try his best so she could understand.
"Well," he started a tad unsure how to answer her, "we aren't the exact same thing," his paws kind of dug into the ground as he tried to come up with a good explanation. "I guess I can explain it this way better." He knelt down and picked two long weeds out of the ground. One had a flower sprouting out the end and the other was only budding.
"You see the bright colored thing?" He said pointing to the flower, "Its similar to this thing thats not as brightly colored," he pointed to the weed just budding. "But in time, " he said as he started to open the bud, "They look even more similar," He opened the bud revealing a flower just like the other one. "How ever they are not the same, " He smiled at her, "Its impossible, this one came from one seed and this one came from different seed. The onlything similar I guess is that they look the same."

She watched intently as he plucked the weeds from the ground, cocking her head curiously. What would flowers have to do with anything?
Her eyes widened as he opened the bud, both flowers beginning to look like each other. "Wow..." she murmured, looking between them both. There was barely a difference, even though they weren't the same flower. Was that true with wolves too?
She let out a soft, happy yip, beginning to get this, both tail thumping against the ground happily. "I get it!" She grinned, smiling at Oki. "So, we're the same, but...different too?" she inquired, making sure she was right.

Oki winked down at her, something he almost never did, wink at another being. Oki almost never smiled as well, but it was different with pups. He didnt mind showing emotion around a pup. After all a pups were still learning things and the last thing they needed was an adult to be cold to them when they didnt get things.
"You got it," He said with a smile, "Thank you oh gracious warrior for sparing me." He bowed to her to show his respect and to humor her.
"I best be on my way," Oki began looking in the direction the wind was blowing, "I will answer anymore questions you have for me the next time we meet," He winked at her again. "For now though I must travel with the herd."
Oki started to pad off before turning back to her and calling out," TIll the next time great warrior," and he was off.
((>w< awwww, would be cute if they meet again when she was older -wink-))
