Not really, no. It plays more like a Final Fantasy game with certain MMORPG-like elements such as the ability to 'tank' enemies. The math is kept pretty basic, and there's nothing really too complex although certain enemies will require you to think about some things first.

Not a question, exactly, more of a comment: Maybe for next time you could have the weapons in the Magic Box be more accurate for the series. Seeing that Buffy can have a wand made me scratch my head and furrow my eyebrows, for example. Maybe you could tweak the names a bit?

Well I tried, LOL! I included the Slayer's scythe and the Hope's Dagger from the Chaos Bleeds video game. Buffy can't use a wand, if you're thinking of Willow's Guardian Wand. If specifically says what character can equip what item in parenthesis in case people don't know.
The good thing about it is it will be a long time before anybody can pay for the purple-colored weapons anyway, so we have plenty of time to change them. I agree though that some of them are lame, but I'm open to suggestions. =)
If you're wondering about 'Mr. Pointy' then yes, that will be a blue item drop in a later dungeon.
Also don't get too freaked out if I change a lot of things in the next couple weeks or so. If things don't adapt they do die, but we did go through a lot of testing first to make sure the basic game stays the same. Things like 'names' are easy to change as long as the core mechanics work all right (which I think they do....)

Maybe there should be characters that you don't fight, but you have to react to in certain ways. For example, Willow has to fall in love with Tara to get a certain spell power, or Spike has to be en-chipped or ensouled before he will give Buffy an item.

There is a story that goes along with this RPG that will have things to do with souls...This is Slayer Soulstice after all. smile You will be fighting enemies for a reason, and you will also run into some of your favorite characters.

Well, Xander's main role in the party is the healer so keep an eye out on everybody's hit points and see if you should be healing somebody when it's your turn. Or you could damage the enemy with 'Magnum Blast' if you so desire. Take a look at Xander's abilities in the 'Welcome' thread on this forum.
((I'll be nice and help you out since it's your first turn...))
Okay notice that Giles has 100 HP? He can have a max of 150 HP, so if you heal him this turn he should be all set.
