(( This is a Private RP between `Swirly and Myself. Please do not post unless asked. )) ------------------------- Azariel stood near her teepee, staring up at the clear morning sky. It had been a month since she had last seen Caelen. At least...she thought it had been. She hadn't had much of a sense of time passing since they had seperated, being wrapped up in her own thoughts could do that. She made a sound similar to a chuckle at herself, shaking her head a bit. Ah, she could think about things too much sometimes. Her talk with Katarina had been a bit enlightening though, but if Caelen and her were going to make things work, some things would have to change. Her long white tail flicked and fluttered a bit in the breeze, though her thoughts were wrapped in possibilities. She hoped this was the right day, it wouldn't do if she or he were early or late. Sighing again, she resisted the urge to pace. She wanted this over with.

The month had passed quickly for Caelen, as quickly as it could when trying to figure out just what precisely the future was going to hold for himself and for the little blue thing he had come to think of as a niece. Yeah, that hadn't been his first choice but the little blue one had bonded with another and now the position of favored uncle was his. He cherished 'Naci, her voice took a bit of his Irish but a large chunk of Scots. Along with a seasoned tongue at swearing.. already.
Bah! He had to get his mind back on what was going to happen. Looking back now, and even having a decent discussion with Harij and Lovey Dovey, Caelen knew now that his tact had been in the negatives but he did recieve points for honesty. He and Azariel would have to have a serious talk but not too serious. He couldn't let the weight of the topic ruin 'Naci's fun...
Picking up a brisk trot, which equalled a canter for 'Naci Caelen called out, "Oi lass! Yer in fer a treat me sweet cricky! Look ahead. We're nae a mile from Az and company!"
For 'Naci she was just a smidgeon confused why her uncle had wanted her along for this trip, but if he wanted it then it would probably just end up being fun. Picking up a suitable pace to match her uncle she bellowed out to him, "Och! Ye oldie, less' jest see if yer match fer me!"
This was a game the duo commonly played, he'd let her win then she'd call him all sorts of names.. Then he'd fall over as if his heart had been torn out.. Oh how she loved her uncle dearly! The blue of her mane began to rip and tear in the wind, regrouping every second or so.. but if anyone were to be watching them it would look like flaming demon-baby was frolicking with the heavily built and muscled, Caelen.

Azariel's ears flicked slightly, catching the soft yet increasing soud of hoofbeats. She turned her head to follow the sound though becuse it sounded as if more than one soquili were coming, it couldn't be Caelen unless he was coming to show her his newly acquired love. Azariel snorted and dismiised the thought with a flourish, it couldn't be true...could it?
Still, as it clearly wasn't Caelen, who could it be? Perhaps a few friends coming to visit her? That would be a nice change of pace, having friends come visit her at her home. Truth be told, though, she would be a bit disappointed if this turned out to be the wrong day and she would get to have her talk with the shamrock stallion.

Caelen slowly began to move into slower forms of a trot because the teepees were getting closer and closer. Frankly, the little ball of flame with him would garner enough attention without having to deal with her going hurtling through someone's home. Ack. Shifting down to a walk, Caelen leaned a cursory nose over the neck and back. "Weell, yer nae the cleanest an' most ladylike thing I've ever seen..."
'Naci's wide amber-eyes filled up with confusion. She had slowed her pace to an ambling trot to match her uncle, and currently she was looking up at him with confused adoration. Her uncle had said she was the most perfect babe he'd ever laid eyes on yet here he was telling her she was bad? " Wha -- " Her response was cut short by the well-time uncle in question...
"... but yer perfection. Now, welcome ter Azariel's home. Try not ter let yer temper go lass.. Remember last time?"

Azariel turned her head to look as well as hear the approaching hoof-beats. At first, when she had heard them slow, she had thought her initial assumption had been wrong, that the others were taking another path and not coming to her teepee, but it hadn't sounded like that they were still coming toward her and--was it? She scented the air, catching the distinct whiff of clover as well as another, unfamiliar scent.
For another second she assumed that Caelen was bringing another mare to their meeting, to show that he at least, had moved on. She was wrong in that assumption, when she finally caught sight of the two as they broke through the tree line.
The familiar green coat, shamrocks faintly visible was a dead give-away even if she hadn't scented him, but the little filly with him was quite a different story. If Azariel wasn't mistaken, this was the little child Caelen had once spoken about, the one where he told her he was a father. Huh.
At least she wasn't overly-anything. Her mane, already quite long (oh, dear, poor thing) was an interesting variation of blue and her coat, a nice silver, matched her mane quite well. For a moment, Az wondered if the filly had developed Caelen's accent and suprressed a chuckle. With Caelen as a father-figure, that was almost certain.
Raising her had, she whickered a wordless greeting, not giving ground by moving toward them, but showing that she wasn't hostile.

The true test of patience for Caelen was to not take off running to greet Azariel. Sure, the past month had been more than a little bit trying for him, but surely the decisions she had come to had been good for them both. Certainly helpful to her as a whole, but their relationship probably couldn’t take too much of a smacking without crumbling. Looking down at ‘Naci with a little wink he spoke to her merrily.
“Now lass, I hope yer up fer Azariel’s surprise. I didna know ye found a stallion to call yer dah! SO She’s thinkin’ that I’m him, eh!” Grinning again he nuzzled her firey mane and picked up a very slow trot. Too much energy just to walk.
‘Naci nearly couldn’t hold her giggles in. The mare up ahead was pretty. A long white mane and tail complimented the darkness of her body. Oh! Pale blue hooves! Of course, the filly was partial to anything blue. It was part of childish innocence. She even got to see how the mare reacted to a change? Cool!
“Och, o’course unca Caelen. If ye’ve a mind ter set her at rights then wee’ll do as ye plan.” Since when did her uncle not want to play tricks on people? Wow! That mare must certainly be awful special. Once Caelen had snuck a snake into the shelter. How her mam had screamed! Someday he’d tell her how to get a snake, he had promised to. Giggling she began to canter, for once managing to keep a relatively in-control pace.
The black-mare had given them a greeting so ‘Naci lifted her nose into the air as she cantered and whickered in return. A high-pitched and girly noise that faded as she focused on her footing.

Azariel laughed and took a few steps forward, despite her earlier thoughts on not giving ground; there was nothing wrong with walking a few steps forward, well, as long as she didn't run to him. That would be a bit too much given for too little.
Was he finally within decent hearing range? Well, there was only one way to find out, "This is a surprise Caelen," She couldn't help but smile at the pair, "I didn't expect you to bring your little one." Her gaze dropped to the silver filly and she bobbed her head in greeting, "It's a pleasure to meet you,"
Her gaze lifted to Caelen, "And it's a pleasure to see you again, Caelen," She shook her head and tilted it back toward her home, "We should get into the shade. The sunlight isn't fond of me." She laughed softly at her own little joke, though it wasn't much of one.

Caelen shook out his curled mane in almost joy. She was the most obstinate lovable mare he would ever find. If he gave her a yard she might deign to give him an inch. That was the way life was supposed to be lived. Sure, the give and take was harder to earn, but once he earned it she wouldn't take it away.
"It's nae a surprise ter me lass." His body shone with a light sheen of sweat from the running and the impatience that he had used. Holding back from rip-roaring after her had been almost twice as hard as just running full blast into the wind. Had she missed him? Lord how he ached to know what she was thinking, "I'd like ye ter meet Ignacia, don' mind her mane. Tis blue fire but it'll nae burn less she's angered or afraid."
He had spoken for 'Naci because he was anxious to get her out with the two-legger or Kale.. or whoever the hell would watch her for jsut a bit. 'Naci was a true sweetheart, bu t that didn't mean he wanted to devote every second of every day to her. No.. Azariel had that spot.

Azariel's eyes flicked over his body. At least he hadn't let himself go in the month they had been gone, eh? She surprised herself with appreciate what she saw with more than just a general friendly admiration, but she quickly covered it up in favor of giving the little filly a proper greeting.
"Hello Ignacia," She greeted friendly, smiling, "I'm Azariel, that is," Her eyes flicked back to Caelen, "If you haven't already heard about me." She laughed softly and shook her head, "Ah, so I suppose you'd better be careful, eh, Ignacia?" She asked, grinning, "Wouldn't wanted to play a bit with another if he got too close?" She chuckled and brushed the implications away, she was too young to understand much of what the older mare was talking about. At least...Az hoped that was the case.
She glanced at Caelen again and noticed he seemed a bit...agitated. She wondered why for a moment and then shrugged it off. Why not let him stew, if only for a bit longer? Grinning, she opened her mouth to chat a bit more with Ignacia when--
"Azariel, are you tormenting that poor stallion?" Called a voice archly from nearby. Azariel turned slightly and gave the human a cool look, which was promptly ignored.
"I'm sorry to barge in..." Ha, sorry Az's a**, "...but I think these two have a lot to talk about," Mashki held out a gentle hand to the little filly, "Shall we go exploring around the area, then? These adults," She emphasized the word as if it were demeaning, "need to talk about private things and you and I won't be interested in. What do you say?" Mashki was calm on the outside, but inside she was simply giggling. Ah...perhaps it was finally time?

‘Naci had absolutely no idea what was going on between her uncle and the pretty mare he had told her that he adored. Adults were silly sometimes.. She didn’t plan to rush into a relationship. Actually, until Unca Caelen had gushed like a silly little 2 year old about the wonder of love she hadn’t given a single thought to someday having a family. Hehe. Ooops.
“Oi! Good day ter ye Miss Azariel! Yer as pretty as me Unca Caelen was gushin’ ye ter be!” Hehe.. Since when did ‘Naci behave? If it make uncle Caelen blush and squirm that would make him sorry for being a meanie-butt to her. She swished her tail back and forth, quite a feat since the flames crackled and disappeared only to re-group a moment later. “Jest call me ‘Naci, eh? My mam’s the only one ter call me that an’ that’s only when I’ve been bad!” The two-legger approached her, and with the trusting spirit of a sweet-hearted filly ‘Naci went bounding over to her. Play time! Oooh yeah.!
Caelen smiled when she glaned at him, but didn’t allow himself to focus on Az until he was positive that ‘Naci wasn’t headed off into any unsafe direction. Mashki was a nice girl, but it wasn’t in his blood to just let little ones go willy-nilly.
He chose to wait until Mashki walked away with ‘Naci before replying to the two legger, “Aye lass, ye torment me every second I’m alive with yer good looks and quick tongue.”
“Alright lass, I think we can both behave as adults fer a little while.” His voice was soft and for the first time that Azariel had heard, at least he was pretty sure, serious. No teasing, just honest talking. “Would ye like ter go ter the edge o’ the trees an’ stay in the shade?” They’d have privacy there and be comfortable. Before they got too serious Caelen wrapped his neck overtop of her and sighed softly, “I’ve missed seein’ ye lass. I’ve even missed our fights an’ when we’re done discussin’ things I’m hopin’ ye’ll pick one helluva fight or not mind if I do.”

Azariel flicked her tail absently as she watched the filly be lead away, only half-promising to get the human back for what she had done later. This was going to be important for the both of them, whether or not she wanted to discuss such things so soon.
Snorting softly, she turned to lead the way to the shade, "HUmph, the same could be said of you, couldn't it?" She retorted, wordlessly extending the same compliment to him. She'd never say such a thing out loud.
Green-blue eyes glanced back at him, the vaguest surprise outlined in her gaze. He was being serious for once. Well, at least this time she wouldn't have to work for it. That was a definite improvement. She nudged his shoulder at his movements to the contrary, "You just can't stay serious, can you?" She grumbled, not really minding.
She was silent for a moments, mused over her thoughts, "I missed you as well, but it was nice to have some time without constant arguing." She snorted and simply didn't look at him, "And already you want to argue again?" She looked up at him with an incredulous look, "You're impossible. Honestly."

Caelen smiled down at Az after ‘Naci was safely out and playing. Alright now, time for something good or bad to happen… His mind was trying to steel his heart, but he just knew she had to be wanting him to stay in her life. She just had to.
“I suppose ye could say that of me too.” Nodding his head slowly and staring at her with soft green eyes. Honestly he couldn’t deny that they drove each other up the wall then back down again. “Now.. On ter business?” Uck.
“I’m tryin’ me hardest ter stay serious. Perhaps I had best jest ask a few question and talk a bit so we can get this out of the way. I know that I don’t’ want this ter take too long. Tisn’t comfortable for either of us I’m thinking.” Okay.. Time to lay it out on the line, “This past month I’ve seen so many unhappy couples.. I canna say I want ter be part o’ them. So.. I want ter be with ye lass. We can take the relationship slow, I’ll go at yer pace so long as yer willin’ ter give jest a little.” Sighing he looked at her pleadingly, he wasn’t teasing, “I want to sleep with ye close, be permitted ter be protective, play together… have alone time an’ together time. Can ye live with that?”
His breathe was more than a bit stiff. They ought to be fighting now so they could make up and then fight more. He loved that she would bellow right back at him. If there were people out to monitor abuse they’d prolly think that Caelen and Az had the most out of wack therapy-needed relationship in all of the Soquili lands. Wasn’t it great?

Azariel's ears flicked, though she remained quite silent once the phrase, "Onto to business" passed dark greens lips.
She listened quietly as he spoke and explained, her own thoughts whirring over his words and her own thoughts. THe jumbled mass was becomnig just a bit ordered, though it was nowhere close to being organized.
"You can't sleep with me close," She pointed out, finding herself unable to be serious even when the situation screamed for it. Whenever Caelen tried to be serious, she couldn't be. Now that was screwed up, "You and I don't live together, sleeping with me close would be impossible unless one of us moved into the others home." Her lips tugged into a smile, oh man, Caelen might just kill her.
"But..." She sighed and looked away, having found herself in a situation she had never wanted to be in. Surprisingly, she didn't mind as much as she thought she would have. "I suppose I can live with that," Green-blue eyes glanced back at him, "Are you asking--in a round-about and far off way--if I want to be your mate, Caelen?" She might as well get the implications out into the open.

Caelen’s eyes were going to take on a twitch if the little snipped didn’t stop teasing him. Bah on mares! (even if they were cute)
From the way her ears twitched back and forth, Caelen could tell she was listening to him. The movements she made were barely discernable, but when he watched with such concentration… it became easier to tell.
Why the little wise-cracking, smarty-pants, pain in his left … A slight cough and a mild frown was his expression as he sat and waited to see what else she had to say. Listening wasn’t all that easy when all of him ached to be able to make fun her in return. Holding his breathe for a moment, letting his temper calm before rumbling, “I’ll move inter yer teepee then lass. I’ve no intention of leavin’ ye alone.” Oh.. That’d probably make her stew.
“Am I askin’ if ye want ter be mates?” This was this that do-or-die feeling that he had heard some stallions speak of. As mates they would be able to part if it ever came to that, not that it would. Honestly, she’d be the one that would leave before him.. Stubborn wasn’t his middle name for nothing. “Aye, havin’ ye by me side would indeed please me. Would ye like ter have me next to ye?” It was going to be give and take.. So far he hadn’t really learned a damn thing about what she felt for him.

Ahhh, it felt so good to give Caelen a bit of his own medicine, Azariel couldn't help but wonder if Caelen wanted to annoy her just so he could feel like that. Talk about a strange way to have fun.
Watching him, she could see him stew inwardly, and it made her grin, oh what fun she could have with him! Sadly, it appeared that she herself would only be able to tease him when he was trying to be serious. Bah, she could try that whenever she liked.
"Move in...?" Now that was not acceptable, "Hey now, I have as much a right to my privacy as you," She pointed out smoothly, he would not be moving in regardless of any conclusion they came to, "And besides, what about Ignacia? Lovey? You have your own family just as I do."
She was silent for a moment, musing. Did she want him to be with her? Would she be able to handle the fact of him next to her? Always in her hair and never leaving her alone, always making her angry just to soothe her down.
.........at least then life wouldn't be boring.
It wasn't the only reason. She liked Caelen well enough, perhaps even insofar as to say the l-word (not something she would readily say). But...was she ready to give up her freedom? Of being able to stay out for days or weeks and return home with no one questioning her? But on the other hoof...she'd have someone to come home to who would be there for her and her alone. Of course, life wouldn't be life without fighting--and she could guarantee there would be fights in the future.
"I would like you next to me." Ah, she was being serious, that wouldn't last--"Even if you do love to tangle your tail in mine and infuriate me up the wazoo."
