Earlier, i had created a thread about how there were possibly four (or more) strains of the G Virus out there ...

G` Strain: Unleashed in October 2004. Created zombies of a generic type if it reacts with dead/decayed tissue. Has curative properties when used in small doses, but that heavily depends on the subject's being alive or dead.
Of Note - Was likely the original strain for the "Perfect Heir" project between Johnny and 247, but Johnny wanted something more refined ...

Grunny Strain: Unleashed in October 2005. Created "Grombies" with the special characteristic of super pale skin, protrusions on one's head, or a full-grown Grunny attached to their head. Used to force fission of parasitically-joined Johnny and Gino and likely "cure" used to complete Project Perfect Heir.
Of Note - Said to have originated as a mixture of rabbit blood and G` Strain that inhabited the first host (nicknamed "Lord Grunny") and spread to other test subjects (or perhaps host cloned from prime host).

Giovanni/Perfect Heir Strain: Discovered in April 2005 and April 2006. Gino and Johnny K. both share this strain which is a completed form of G`. Johnny K. is a special case, as his genes were mutated to copy the actions of a parasite. Gino's genes were mutated so that he would be the host body of the parasite.
Of Note - The strain might have been negated or ejected by "Gino's" being injected with a foreign substance - X Strain.

X Strain: Developed by LabtechX. Released in October 2004 as antidote to the G` Strain, and again in 2005 as antidote to Grunny Strain.
Of Note - LabtechX may have been infused with this strain.

If X was in fact killed in that "blast" and no other Avatarian (non-infected Gaian) was killed in that blast ... could it be that the Perfect Heir strain have been something that reacted strongly with X Strain?

What if the blast was in fact both a high-energy light AND a scattering of the Perfect Heir strain?

Shouldn't we all be to some extent grombies then?
Or am I missing this all?

The concentration isn't high enough for it to be critical, and besides - shouldn't you be dead for the Grunny Strain to affect you?

Didn't X state that he got the vial he used on Gino from the previous experiments?

Also I've always wondered about the strain used to revive flarn.
The manga says that Mother revived him with a bizzar mix of Gaian and Zurg technology.
In my opinion she perfected the virus creating a
"perfected G virus" or possibly a "Z virus".

If the concentration is so low that we don't notice it, won't it not matter at all if we're all infected?

Technically Grunnys don't create zombies they make Grombies.

Grunny's are parasites that controll the host through a poison secreted directly into the host's brain.
So in essence Grombies aren't Zombies at all they're just being controlled
by the Grunny on their heads.

And the reason Grombie is so much like the word Zombie is that those being controlled by grunnies act like zombies?
Even though they aren't really?

Yes I believe so.

It says on the Grunny meter from the event that it causes impared motor function
meaning they act sluggish LIKE a zombie.
after that they transform into a grunny like creature
and their eyes turn dark red.

It never says they actually die.

OMFG!!!

I FIGURED OUT HOW GRUNNYS WORK!

They were injected with the G virus and that's what they release into the host.
That's why a level two grombie looks like this:

The virus is Merging the DNA of the host and the Grunny.
Causing the host to get the nubs on the head, rabbit mouth and the red eyes!
It makes perfect sense!!!

3nodding Completely possible too. If it the G-virus was initially made of a retrovirus, it would be able to both acquire the DNA from the grunny, trasmit it to the host, and then insert the viral/grunny DNA into the host genome. Upon replication, it would splice from the host, and go on to lysis, however, if the strain was further mutated by the creators, it would lack the splicing power and remain in the host DNA, only to become part of it permenantly.

So Grombies are actually a grunny-human hybrid?
