Zero huffed as he slipped through the forest carefully, tail flicking back and forth. His facial scars were itching and stinging as of late and he thought there might be a storm on the way. At least his scars always seemed to act up when some kind of bad weather was coming! He tried not to think about it too much though because thoughts like that made him feel a little more than insane and he definitely never wanted to follow in his mother's footsteps.

He took a deep breath and let it out, stomach growling. He was slightly hungry but also feeling lazy, he'd much rather find a nice spot to view the clouds. It was only midday after all, perhaps he'd put off hunting until later!

The pup on the other hand, had no way to sense the on-coming weather, and was at said moment chasing a butterfly through the woods. She always seemed to be chasing something, even if said something really wasn't there. But the butterfly was there, and Alice was quite enthralled with it's beautiful yellow wings as it fluttered away. Soon it sought refuge atop a bush, where the pup was able to see it clearly. Stalking the bug playfully, she slunk along the ground with her double tails up and wagging. She moved closer and closer, until...SNAP!, her jaws snatched the butterfly from it's perch in what was meant to be a playful n**. "...Oops." she muttered, looking at the crippled butterfly still twitching on the ground.

But then, another noise caught her attention. It smelt kind of like her old family, but different. With a soft, inquisitive snort she flipped her flopping ear from her face and started off towards it, ears perked. Dipping under a fallen log, she looked around, padding towards it, whatever 'it' was.

Yes lazing about was starting to look like a much more handsome choice than hunting and having to work. In fact maybe he could even find another wolf and convince them to hunt for him! His tail swished back and forth and he hummed lightly, until he spotted the pup.

He stopped dead in his tracks and became silent, feeling a little uneasy. He didn't like children, they reminded him of his sister. And how stupid she was. His head tilted slowly, eyes roaming over the little pup. Gray... white stripes... metal? Two tails? A little freak! Zero's lips twitched as he held back the laughter and he shook his head a moment.

"You lost?" He asked gruffly, ears perking as he looked around, trying to spot a mother.

Alice repeated the gesture when she spotted the older male, looking at him in awe and slight wariness. It looked, it looked like her. Except, not her. And not Mother, and not siblings.

She stood still as he seemed to inspect her, bright blue eyes wandering over his coat. They fell upon the scars on his muzzle and Alice's head tilted, her right ear flopping as she did so.

"Does it hurt?" she inquired, seeming to avoid his question.

He blinked and looked confused a moment and slightly irked. Why hadn't she answered and what was she talking about? When his nose wrinkled though he became aware again of the scars sitting there. "My scars?" He said slowly, leisurely. How should he answer that? They did not exactly hurt right then but they weren't gone from his feeling plane completely. They just bothered him when the weather was like this.

"No. Are you lost little girl?" He said again, this time his tone was more demanding. Why were pups so curious anyhow? "I don't have time for games. Either you're lost or you can be on your way, mm?"

At his question she nodded softly, wondering whatever else she could've meant. Of course, some things only made sense to her and not others at times.

Okay, so now it was either leave, or pretend she was lost and get to stay with this new, strange beast-thing. "I....I'm lost. Ya." she replied with a fast nod, looking up to the male with big eyes.

He decided to ignore her question about his scars, not really getting why she'd ask about it. He didn't know much about children, that was obvious.

He cringed when she gave him that look and sighed, looking around. "And is anyone searching for you then? You might want to find shelter, a storm is on it's way here." He said calmly, slowly sitting down. Would a pup believe him? Hopefully she wouldn't ask how he knew that... well knowing that she was a puppy she probably would. He needed to get back to his den though...

Her ears perked lightly at his first question lightly, still looking at the older wolf. Why would anybody be searching for her? She was way too far away from her home for anyone to even know her, much less try to look for her. She smiled softly and shook her head. "Nope. And, how would you know? It doesn't look anything like a storm." Alice said, raising her head to the mostly clear sky above.

He blinked and frowned. "You're lost but neither of your parents are searching for you? No friends, no watcher?" He didn't really think one could get lost if there was no one there to be able to look for them. As far as he was concerned wolves like that were just wanderers.

He sighed and shook his head. "Never you mind, there's just going to be one, alright?" And suddenly to the west there was a loud crack of thunder! He raised his eyebrows as if to say, 'see'. He nudged her with his nose and sighed. "C'mon, come this way."

Alice looked up to the bigger wolf and nodded, a soft smile on her face, both tails swaying back and forth mildly. Even though the logic didn't really make sense, she just wanted to stay with this other thing as long as she could.

As she was about to question him, she heard the loud, thundering crash of thunder, and with a scared yelp, the pup dived under his legs, tails tucked. She was terribly afraid of storms. Sticking close to the male's side, she followed him, stepping lightly and stiffly, eyes darting for any sign of more thunder.

He sighed wondering why he always got stuck doing things like this. He didn't like pups yet he was taking on into his home. He shook his head in bewilderment and yelped when the pup yelped, diving under his legs. He yelped because she'd landed on his hind paw, and then he'd almost tripped!

He grumbled slightly and took a deep breath, he shouldn't be mad! She was small, young! It was natural to be afraid of storms. "C'mon it's right ahead." He nodded to a tree on a hill with pretty nice roots, roots that were mostly above ground! The hole was small but the inner den was big enough for two grown adults. All in all it was a nice den, and it's position on the hill would keep most of the rain out.

He nudged her inside as more thunder cracked over head and soon after a flash of lightening. The skies had gotten much darker and the rain had suddenly started poring down!

The pup nodded, padding nervously beside him, well, actually pretty much glued to him, as they started up the hill. Alice needed no encouragement to get out of the storm, quickly zipping in and pressing herself against the farthest earthy wall of the den, shivering as she watched wide-eyed at the rain pouring down.

"Who are you?" the femme questioned as she looked at the older male, having calmed down a little bit.
