User Image They were all just hiding. That was the case. They had were probably all happily roosted in those mountains over there and he was going to go and take a look. It was colder up here than he had remembered and it was making flying harder.

Wild Wind glided down closer to the steady incline, ready to land. He perched happily upon the edge of a rock, looking across at all the lands that spread before him. They were out there.

The cold air caused a shiver to escape his lips in a simple, "burrr." It was colder here than on the main ground, but he had to keep looking. Cold wasn't going to keep him from finding someone.

Ah yes, winter had been defeated on the immediate clearing but the mountains still fought off winter's valiant attempts to maintain its hold. This resulted in rather peculiar weather, cold winds and yet gleaming sunshine that could work to the advantage of another in some cases, but not so much in others... In this case, the stallion was rather grateful for the sun as he continued to drift along the stream's edge. While his robes ensured he remained warm and comfortable, it was nice to have them heated up much quicker by the sun - the dark colour excelled in absorbing the heat.

Nevertheless, it was with each step that the gold rings in his hair released a small and musical chime. There was a time when it would have alerted one to his presence, attracted another or spelled disaster. Now, it didn't have quite the same affect given his choice to hide away in the wake of the hunter's pursuit of his very form. Instead, all they served to do was to bring him comfort. It had been these jewels that had attracted his lifemate and it had been these jewels that had reminded him of the qualities and riches he possessed where no other did.

On the whole, life was fairly peachy!

He hadn't even seen the hunter in a long time as well.

It was only as he glanced down towards the river and caught the winged reflection above his head that he raised a brow. While he knew it wasn't his hunter he was fairly certain they all discussed what they had seen with one another which may prove problematic.

"Hm..." He murmured softly.

He heard the gentle chimes and a glitter caught the corner of his eye. At first he thought it was just the river reflecting the sun, but when he turned his head to inspect, indeed there was a very peculiar Soquili with a strange mane and items covering him.

His brows furrowed downwards, crinkling around his two-toned eyes. This creature was very strange indeed. But there was one thing that stood out the most to Wild Wind: he had no wings. He was another of those dumb grounded Soquili.

He turned on his perch to face the stallion better.
"Ah. So it seems I have run across another one of this kind. What is your name, Grounded," he asked in a rather demanding voice.

His brow rose higher. There was little he could do to prevent it, the need to express his amusement at the demanding tone. It came as no surprise to him that the creature making the demands was none other than a wind - that spoke volumes in itself. Alas, the refraining from providing his name immediately the stallion chose instead to take a different route.

Shifting his weight, the stallion deliberately kept his gaze turned away from the wind. A toss of his head and the rings clinked together in a much louder musical chime. It was enough to toss his mane out, to billow across his robes and to highlight the pale quality of his fur - so well maintained by his life mate...In truth, he had never been so proud of his appearance, the time away from the 'public' had been just what he needed and he looked better than ever.

That and all the exercise had done wonders for his physique!

"Now that," Continuing to slip by the stallion, Paramekia paid no heed to his close proximity and simply savoured the opportunity to strut in that imperial manner he was renowned for. "Is none of your concern, Featherbrain." He replied, landing an insult of his own as at last he glanced over his shoulder and flashed a sultry smirk.

He snorted. It wasn't like he really wanted to know what his name was. He rarely called the grounded-mare he shared territory with by her real name. He tip-toed to the edge of the rock and leaped down to where he was on "even" ground with this strange thing.

He chuckled at the attempt of an insult. It was just jealously that ever goaded someone to name calling. The wind's name calling was based on truth, not lies, or at least in his mind.
"Well, then. Since you give me a name, I'll just have to give you one myself." He looked him over from behind, as he had walked on passed him. "Grounded-Jingles," he announced cheekily. "Yes. That's a fine name to go with those noise makers you have."

"Very creative." The stallion's tone was somewhat peculiar, while sarcasm should have dripped from his very lips he instead sounded bored. It was almost as though he had heard the insults before, either that or it reminded him of a child and he had never really excelled at dealing with children. That being said, that might have explained why the stallion had never before seen the individual - for all he knew, this one could have been a little sprat when he had chosen to wander the Clearings.

Paramekia had never granted the stallion a name, he had simply chosen to state how he viewed the wind. If Paramekia was 'grounded', then this one was a feather-brain just like the rest of the avian kind. Great hunters they may be but the wily rabbit can often escape if it keeps watch.

"As for the 'noise makers', they are made of gold and are significantly more impressive than your attire." Now that was said with a hint of arrogance as he continued, glancing briefly towards his reflection in the river as he spoke. Two could play at this game, this emperor had been around long than the bird and thus he could play it much better!

His grin grew wider as the regular seemed to go from boredom to attempting to insult him in a few easy moves. Luckily, nothing really affected him and he couldn't help but watch as this new entertainment went to checking his appearance in the stream.

"So, Jingles," he said with an emphasis on the new-found nickname. "Your the Narcissus of this area, are you? Would you like something shiny to look into than that ripply ol' stream? You could use those ornaments rather nicely if they weren't attached that mess of a mane." He was beaming, enjoying his attempt to provoke this stallion.

Would you like something shiny to look into than that ripply ol' stream?

Was it him, or did that little phrase sound a little off? Paramekia shook his head as he repeated the sentence a few times, little by little, piece by piece until he had confirmed that it made absolutely no sense. As far as the stallion was concerned, the river was perfectly adequate and provided him with the feedback he needed to ensure he looked reasonably well (and he did).

Even so, he couldn't help but release a chuckle at the 'narcissus' comment. There were few who had made that type of observation before and he had to admit that he would give credit where credit was due in that case. Well, he wouldn't say it out loud but he mentally congratulated the bird for making the observation and having the nerve to say it - only his mate would have gotten away with that on most occasions.

Now to respond in the most advantageous manner possible.

"No, thank you." Glancing round briefly at the braided mane of the stallion he couldn't help smiling. He had seen longer braids than that, heavier and more impressive but for now he would use the stallion's arrogance to his advantage. "The ornaments you speak of have a more important purpose than fuelling my ego." He replied smoothly and fell silent once more as the soft breeze caused them to chime briefly.

Any other Soquili would know that they were behaving like a fool. Any one of them would have never tried to be so rude and cocky to this odd stallion. Questions would have been asked instead of demands. But Wild Wind wasn't like the others, no sir.

Instead, he took the "thank you" as what it was, a mere thank you, and smiled widely.
"You're welcome for the offer." His grin looked like it would be painful for how large it was and his blue and brown eyes seemed to sparkle with glee.

Ah. Those shiny, noise makers.
"Why would shiny pieces of metal in your mane be so important, Jingles?" (He really did love using that nickname.) They seemed to be of little importance to him and would probably only be bothersome, giving away position, and just annoying.

"They attract the rarest of creatures and the most surprising of prey." Flashing a smile, his expression became somewhat darker and it was all too clear at that point that his 'thank you' had been little more than a veiled and automatic response to the stallion's lack of creativity. The jerk of his head caused yet another 'jing' but, given the sudden movement this was far less musical and more along the lines of a crash.

Cymbals, anyone?

Satisfied that his response was enough to be misinterpreted by the foolish avian, he simply released a bemused chuckle and kicked his hind hoof to realign his robes. Now that he was stood directly with the sun to his back the heat was rather pleasant and soothed his nerves. If anything, as opposed to being irritated by the feathered idiot, he simply saw him as some form of entertainment.

...Why, this stallion appeared to be easier to play with than his former consorts, he took everything at face value.

He rolled his eyes and snorted loudly, moving away from Paramekia to take a cool drink from the stream, not noticing the change in his "companion's" behavior. His braids fell into the water, flowing under his chin and getting soaked by the time he lifted it back up. He still didn't see what was so special about those things.

"All you seem to have attracted is the sunlight. And I doubt those do you much good in bringing in food. You eat grass, for the Gods' sake." He snorted again, brushing his tail to the side with a hoof. "Jingles. I grow bored. Maybe you could play some music better music with those things."

"I only provide music for my mate, you are out of luck." He once again offered one of his sultry smiles and having grown weary of the wind's manner he was already drifting away once more. Much like windchimes, his ornaments began to play once more and every now and the the occasional creature would poke their head from the trees to take a peak - especially raccoons but he had made a pact with them in relation to leaving his hair alone.

"If you are bored, find someone else to entertain you, I am no jester." And with that note, he flicked his tail against his robes and unceremoniously stepped through the stream to the other side of the forest. While he did enjoy the walk and did prefer to look his best he was calm and certain in the knowledge that the robes would dry perfectly well after their meeting with the stream beneath him.

If all else failed, he would simply shrug them off, he was well aware that no one would argue with his decision - now that brought a little smile to his lips.

Did he say mate? As in singular? Uno? One? Boy was this guy lame! He couldn't help but laugh out loud when he mentioned a single mate. He stomped his front hoof hard on the ground as a whiny of laughter continued to roll from his lips. This stallion seemed lucky enough to get just one, but only one?

It took him awhile to sober up and when he did, the strange stallion was already across the other side of the stream. Funny how he was willing to get all those clothes wet just to avoid him.
"Now you've gone and soiled yourself, Jingles," he said looking pointedly at the web robes. "You wouldn't have had to have done that if you had wings."

"Water is of no consequence to me." To emphasise this fact he gave a shudder and very calmly slipped out of his robes. While he found it difficult to put them on alone, removing them was easy and as the dark blue material cascaded away from his ivory and lilac coat he couldn't help but smile - ah yes, the robes certainly kept his fur in pristine condition.

That being said, he did bend down quickly to toss the robes across his back where they would be subject to direct sunlight. They would dry off much more quickly then but rather than dwell on the subject he did purposefully weave in and out of the water on the other side. It wasn't his problem if the bird was afraid of the water, or alternatively, couldn't swim.

Nevertheless, he was aware of the laughter but had long since cast it aside - he had tasted many mares in his time and would have been the last to admit he needed only one until he had met his delightful mare.
