Something has been annoying me this past while. Look at it this way, I'm not ashamed of liking MCR, not one bit. But....right now liking them feels almost like a danger.
So, the other day I seen a really nice guy, and was talking to him, and things were going great, until.....we started talking about music. He said he was going to a festival called Oxygen, and was uberly pissed off that MCR were headlining it. He said he hated them with passion. Haven't talked to him since.
I usually wear MCR shirts out in town and stuff, but then big like, rocker dudes give me these horrible looks and stuff. Some girls give me horrible looks, making me think my clothes are horrible.
And my best friend's brother give me stick all the time about liking MCR. Saying they are the shittest band around, and they should go drown themselves. They call me emo and all this s**t. I'm cracking up.
This is really starting to get to me. Do I have to hide my love for MCR to avoid this s**t? Do I have to cover up something I love? Even though I don't want to?
Don't get me wrong, seriously. I am not ashamed of my love for MCR. But recently this s**t has been annoying me, and I need some advice.

I've always been a little wary when it comes down to wearing MCR merch, so first off, lots of kudos to you. It takes a lot of guts to wear anything MCR related because from where I'm from, you can get harassed for wearing stuff like that. (I've had a couple of verbal harassments at school and it was just people hearing info that I listen to them.)
I seriously think you should ignore them, like you have been doing, but maybe stray away from wearing any MCR-related merch for the time being? Like, it's not a permanent decision and its not like you're locking it away for good... it's just. Temporary.
Maybe let the s**t roll down the hill for a bit and, once you feel comfortable enough, whip out the shirts. I'm not that great at advice, so I dunno if that'll help at all, but yeah. Just lay low for a bit.
And tell your best friend's brother to STFU. I have a classmate like that. I want to deck him every time. The sad part? He hasn't even listened to their music, lol. I dunno if you rag on any of his bands, but if you don't, just tell him this: Since you aren't saying any of his bands are s**t eaters, he should show respect to you in return. It's common courtesy. confused

Yeah. He should show respect. I don't say anything about the bands he likes, because I actually like them. I dunno, he's just a d**k sometimes.
I don't know what MCR ever did to the haters, make them hate them so much. =/

Hey smile yer i can see where u're coming from, but u know, if they don't like you becos of what music you listen to...that's pretty ******** shallow. And as for the dude that u haven't spoken to, try chatting to him and it shud be fine, and if it's awkward cos u don't like the same music, it's not really worth the effort, let the guy do the effort razz lol. It's not a big deal if someone doesn't like the type of music u're into, but it does kinda suck, cos u can't share that with them u know? Oh yeah...and i'm a big rocker dude by the way lol (i'm 6'2" so kinda tall...for people in living in england anyways), i listen to lotsa heavy bands etc, but i love my chemical romance. And those girls that give u bad looks...they're probs just jealous u look so darn good wearing MCR clothes hehe. Be happy you're not like all those fags, always stand up for what you believe in and what you know is right, don't feel pressured by today's society to change anything about yourself, and people will really look up to you and respect u for it. Your friend's brother's just teasing u, it's what guys do razz hehe, just ignore it. Haha and don't worry about being called emo, it's just a label people use, try to take it as a complement lol if that's at all possible? I mean there's no definition of what emo is, is there really, it's like there's no definition of normal...it's just social norms and stuff. Stand tall and proud smile represent your band and support them always, good luck with it. By the way, i always wear mcr gear, no1 ever takes the piss out of me razz if they do...just shrug it off. Take care smile cya!!!

Just remember this phrase: "It takes 32 muscles to frown, but it takes 4 muscles to stick up my middle finger and say, 'Bite me!'"

Remember Gerard's words.

I say, don't take that crap. Just don't listen. Ignore them. Continue weraing your shirts and whatever other MCR clothes you have. If you want to, sing MCR songs really really loudly as you walk through the halls.

Oh I get that all the time. Especially when people don't expect it of me, because I don't dress like someone people would percieve to be a major MCR fan. What I do in those awkward situations is to just give a little shrug and say "Okay. That's your opinion." smile and move on to something else.

I think its because of the stupid teenie boopers that have shirts at the My Chem concerts that have "Gerard! HAVE MY BABBIES!!!!!!" on them. Or there's the oh-so-original "I'M IN THE BLACK PARADE!!11!!1!1!!!" stare But I reckon that My Chem are very mainstream as of the Black Parade. They're doing what pop bands do, make their whole album into music videos. I prefer the other albums then the Black Parade. The Black Parade was very over-rated because of the teenie boopers. But thats just all my opinion. ...Please don't flame me. sweatdrop

Just ignore those stupid people. You're allowed to like whatever you like. They only do that to make you sad. So if you show sad feelings towards that, they'll keep pestering you. If you just say, "Whatever." or "That's your oppinion, I think they're amazing." they might stop.
Remember, people are usually doing that to see your reaction to it.
But most of all, you must remember Gerard's words of wisdom, I can't say it in detail, because I forgot, but be yourself and never take anyone's s**t.
