Toshi leaned against a wall, half in shadows, sipping his drink. The warm press of bodies around him was almost welcome, as the patrons walked back and forth through the bar, stirring the hazy air with their passage, the nois eof their voices like a distant buzzing in his ears. He flicked his tongue out over his bottom lip, toying with the ring, and scanned the faces. too young, too old, ech, how did that one get past the front door? Toshi sighed. Was the night going to be a total loss then?

Another night, another bar. Dorian wandered into the familiar establishment and found himself a seat for his nightly entertainment. He was quick to nod to the bartender and order an obscure brand of beer, and then began his nightly ritual of sipping on his drink and casually surveying the crowd.

Toshi followed the paler audio with his eyes and smirked to himself. Well, maybe not a total loss. Pushing off from the wall, he slipped through the little crowd and claimed a stool at the bar. He plunked down backwards, feet hooked onto the ring at the base of the stol, and elbows leaning on the counter, the bottle of smirnof dangling from one furred hand. "Hey stranger. Can I buy you a drink?" He smiled at the newcomer, amber eyes flashing mischiveously.

Dorian turned his head slightly to look at the one who addressed him, and he gave a lazy smile. "Maybe when I'm done this one," he replied simply. He never had more than one drink in an evening, but if this striped Audio wanted to entertain him, he didn't feel the need to reveal that little point. He didn't say anything more, leaving it up to the other to continue the conversation.

Well, this was starting off better than expected! The first venture of the night, and he isn't instantly shut down. "Well, that's a given." He smiled and relaxed a littler, letting his tail twitch in time to the music in the background and took another swig from his drink. "I haven't seen you around here before. What's your name?" Then, almost as an afterthought; "Oh, I'm Toshi, by the way.'

"Dorian. I only visit here now and again." He picked up his glass and lazily took another sip, taking care not to get his gloves damp with the condensation on the outside of the glass. He glanced around the bar once more before returning his casual attention to his evening's drinking companion.

He frowned and watched Dorian glance around the bar again. Looking for an escaoe route? Waiting on someone to show up? A little moment of trepidation was there and gone and Toshi decided to chance it anyway. Sure he wasn't getting the warmest reception he'd ever had, but it was far form the cold shoulder. "Are you...expecting someone?"

Dorian's lazy smile returned. "No, I'm just looking around. Not much in tonight's crowd to look at though." This time his attention stayed with Toshi as he toyed with his drink. The lip ring was a nice touch, he mused to himself.

Toshi grinned wolfishly. "Good. I'd hate to think I was intruding," he said with a tangible insincerity in his tone. Noticing Dorian eyeing his lip ring, Toshi threw his head back, downing the last of his drink and pulling the bottle away from his mouth to let the last couple of drops fall onto his tongue, the brightly colored end of the barbel piercing his tongue catching the light as he did so. He tapped his claws on the bar top, signalling for another drink. "I agree, the crowd isn't much to look at tonight. Well," he glanced sidelong at Dorian, "most of the crowd, anyway."

Dorian's lazy smile only grew a bit wider, and he raised a pierced eyebrow. Was Toshi hinting at something? The night would be so much more interesting if that was the case. He sipped at his own drink, and although he was tempted to show off his own tongue piercing, he let it be for the moment. "You visit here often?"

Toshi smiled and srugged. "Off and on. Lately it's been slow here, but I thought I'd try my luck again." He tooka smaller sip of his drink; it wouldn't do to seem like a lush, and if Dorian was going to nurse the same beer all night, there'd be no use in Toshi getting shittered.

The slight change in drinking behavior didn't go unnoticed, but Dorian's own drinking habits were never influenced by his company. One drink, at his own pace. After all, there wasn't any point to drinking if he couldn't enjoy it and remember it in the morning. "Sometimes slow isn't bad," he offered before taking another sip.

"To the best of my knowledge," Toshi smirked, "slow and steady never won anything that wasn't in a storybook." He took another swig and winked. "But if that's the way you want to play it, I've got all the time in the world."

"Who says I'm looking to win anything?" Dorian's smile grew to a near grin. Toshi was definitely holding his interest now, as casual as that interest was. One never got anything but casual from the silver Audio anyway. "And if I may ask, what do you think we're playing for?" He asked, with a trace of wry humor touching his smile.

Toshi turned around on the stool so he was facing the bar and set his drink down, running his finger around the top and causing the bottle to balance on egde is a slow circle. "Well I was under the impression I was playing for the pleasure of your company." He grinned slyly. "What would you say we were playing for?"
