Story
Lost Secrets of the Sith
It has been almost 10 years since the battle of Naboo. The Republic is filled with distrust and the Galactic Senate is nearly powerless to stop the dissension that is growing.
One by one, planets once loyal to the Republic are seceding, joining the Separatists. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine is using everything in his power to stop the flow of systems leaving the Republic. .
He has made the choice to recruit anybody willing to fight in the name of the Republic. Freelancers from all parts of the galaxy have answered the call, hoping to make a name for themselves in the coming conflict . . .

Profiles
Username: Masurao Kushin AIM Username: Character Name: Exal Albrek Species: Human General Appearance: Has dark brown hair and eyes. He wears a black vest over a dirty grey shirt and black pants. He has a small blaster pistol in a holster on his belt. He is 26 years old and is of average height. Class: Starship Pilot/Smuggler Bio: Exal is the co-captain of the Crimson Mirage, a modified Taris Freighter. Ever since he learned to pilot a starship, he's spent most of his time as a small-time shipping pilot, flying a busted heap of a transport. This line of work was very unrewarding and It was on a routine delivery to the prison of Kessel, that he ran into Tobias. He was impressed by her attitude as she beat up two guards who pushed her the wrong way. He busted her out and offered her to be his second in command. However, since it took both of their efforts to "acquire" the Crimson Mirage, they settled on becoming co-owners. They have since turned to smuggling, running spice and other illegal cargo between planets. While Tobias mostly handles to mechanical aspects of running the ship, Exal takes care of the piloting and computing duties. He will not hesitate to pawn off parts of the ship if he sees a chance to make some extra money. He loves to gamble and often loses most of their payoffs at casinos around the galaxy. Though a little immature at times, he is able to straighten up when things get rough and can exhibit expert piloting and maneuvering.

Username: Merrihop AIM Username: Character Name: Tobias "Salvo" Firith Species: Human General Appearance: A rather short woman, Tobias stands around 5' 2" in height, but more than makes up for it in spirit. Normally she's seen in a vest and long-sleeved shirt, accompanied by comfortably fitted pants. They often are all of a shade of brown, but she may have a dress or something nice in her closet too, though she's not quick to admit to it if she does. The two constants are her worn in boots and the holster at her hip, holding her ever-present blaster pistol. With a slim curved female build, the holster belt often appears a bit loose around her waist. Despite her rather plain wardrobe, though, she sports a vivid mane of brown and red-orange hair, kept just at shoulder length, so it can be tied back. A pair of grey eyes peek out from behind the messy bangs. They are often the key to discerning one of her moods from another, but can also be decieving, when she feels the need to do so. Bio: A full partner and co-captain on the Crimson Mirage, Tobias was rescued from a prison on Kessel by Exal Albrek. She doesnt' often admit it, but she'd been close to giving up and committing suicide when he showed up. Exal's the only one who knows just how hard it was for her to adjust after being set free, and for her trouble she's developed a hotter temper and a sharper tongue, which have been known to get her in trouble. Her nickname comes from her tendency to explode when provoked in the right way. As far as her past goes, she doesn't talk about it too often. It's more important to her to live for the present, especially after her time on Kessel. She's been partnered with Exal since before they acquired the Mirage, and is therefore an equal owner, but she lets Exal act as captain most of the time. Her piloting skills, however, closely rival her partner's, though she has the propensity to attempt significantly more risky maneuvers. She acts as primary mechanic on the vessel, and is always seeking out better parts or modifications to be made, by whatever means she must. She is as protective if not moreso than Exal about the ship, as she's poured a lot of time and effort into it. As far as employment goes, Tobias joins Exal in almost all endeavors, but isn't afraid to voice her opinion about them. She likes to remind him about the numerous times they've gotten arrested because of his crazy schemes, but will never deny that she was involved voluntarily. Her sharp tongue and firey temper aside, "Tobi" is a woman with a kind heart, and, somewhere under all of it, a gentle nurtering side. She owes Exal her life, but no one but the two of them need to know that.

Floating in deep space, the Crimson Mirage was a small spec among the many stars that dotted the blackness of space. Inside, Exal Albrek sat at the control console, working over a datapad. Figures and symbols floated across the screen. He came across on specific number and a smile appeared on his face. "Now that is a thing of beauty." He turned around to face his co-pilot, and chuckled. "We made quite a killing on that last job, Salvo. Though, if I hadn't been able to talk us past the Republic Customs Agent, we'd have lost the whole shipment. And I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to have to explain to the Hutts why a whole cache of spice was confiscated." He put the pad back on the console and stretched. "All thats left now is to figure out how I'm going to spend it."

Tobias leaned back in her seat, kicking a foot up to rest on one of her knees, "Is it enough to replace the brand new sublight components you hocked before I had a chance to install them? Those weren't cheap you know. And the old parts might have been enough to pay for the repairs to the hull if you'd given me just one more day to work on this heap..." Her words would have sounded gruff to the untrained ear, but Tobias was more irked about it than anything. She hadn't even been given a chance to test them out yet, and after all that trouble too... she'd gone through a few different illicit channels to obtain a few of those modified parts...

"Heap?!" he said as if insulted. He patted the control panel, talking to the ship "It's ok old girl, she doesn't appreciate you as much as I do." He turned back, "And besides, the money I got from those components helped buy the jamming equipment that snuck us past the garrison on Malastare." He flipped a switch on the comm, setting it to the general frequency. "Besides, the payoff from the last run will buy some more components, as well as keeping us running until we find the next job, assuming that the next job comes within a week." There was nothing but static on the comm. He switched between frequencies, hoping to find anything that might lead to more work.

Tobias groaned and tossed her head, "At least I bother getting the parts to keep her running. Without me here you'd be stranded in a month's time." She kicked her feet down to the floor, boots landing with a soft thump, then standing, jutting out her hip, where a hand rested impatiently, "And are you going to just sit there and wait for work to find us, or should we find a place to stop and restock? I don't know about you, but I wouldn't mind having food in the galley for once, now that we can afford it..."

"Stranded? Well, without me, you'd still be holed up in that prison on Kessel, mining ore until your hair was white." He met her gaze. "And besides, I've grown accustomed to eating those military rations. They have a, um, robust... taste once you get past the swallowing part." He thought for a minute, "Though, a short stop may prove worthwhile." He listened for a second and groaned at the static. "I guess sitting out here in the middle of nowhere isn't going to hand us our next job. Punch up the hyperspace coordinates. I think a visit to Sacorria might prove useful."

Tobias cringed, and threw a glare at Exal before sitting back down in her seat and starting to punch up the proper coordinates and settings for their jump... But her eyes had grown somewhat dark, "You know I hate it when you bring that shithole up..." She murmered quietly as she worked... her temper toned down significantly after that sobering reminder of where she'd be now if Exal hadn't busted her out...
Once she was done, she leaned back in her chair again, hands folded over her slim belly as she stared out into the empty space before them before making the jump, "Why Sacorria anyway?... "

"Well, they have adequate facilities. But the plus is that it is far enough away from the Core, that we'd evade detection, but close enough that we'd be able to eavesdrop on any news coming from that area. With all that has been going on with the Separtists movement and the useless idiots that make up the Senate, there may just be a fair job for us. Without an active military, the Republic has to depend upon freelancers, and from what I hear, the pay is good." He reached for the throttle and engaged the hyperdrive. "Its going to be a while before we get to Saccoria."

Tobias nodded, getting up from her chair, "Then we can get some rest, and maybe I can tinker with the sublight enough to make due until I can find good parts again. She'll keep us running a while, but we could sure use the kick of those new parts..." She stretched a bit, then started to saunter back toward the main area, intending to get herself a bite and lie down while she waited for the drive to cool enough to work on... "And if we're going to try and work for the Republic, we may need to make a contact for some false identification. I'm not taking any chances..." She tucked her thumb into her belt and started to make her way out of the cockpit, boots making a soft muffled noise on the floor plating as she walked.

Exal began to get up and follow her, but after that Kessel bit, she'd likely want to be alone. He turned back to his console and pulled up the ship's diagnostics. Tobias was right, the sublight drives were working, but were in sore need of servicing. He switched over to the comm structure and ship ID tags. He could hack some new codes to prevent anyone from IDing the ship, but false names for each of them would take someone who specializes in that area. He had no contacts on Saccoria, but might be able to buy some info. I just hope that the Republic hasn't suddenly decided to step up security in the nearby planets.

Tobias prepared two sets of the military rations. She didn't care what Exal said, they tasted like engine grease and they both knew it, "We've got to get some decent food..." She left the top on one and slid it down the passage and into the cockpit with practiced ease. It skidded to a stop at the feet of her partner as Tobias flopped boredly on the seats in the main area, starting to choke down her food before taking a bit of a rest... She wasn't really mad at Exal for bringing up Kessel... but it always brought back bad memories... and reminded her how much she really owed him...
Once her rations were gone, Tobias lay her head back on the sofa-like seats, staring up at the ceiling for a while, before allowing herself to slip into a light nap while she waited for the sublight to cool... mentally going over the list of components to look for in her head.
