A tiny centaurette with garish rainbow hair trot happily through Traverse Town. Even though it wasn't raining and probably never would, the little pony girl wore a raincap on her head and a pair of golashes on her hind legs. In her arms was a large paper bag, almost too big for the little girl to carry.
She sped up a bit when the fountain came into the distance, and with a happy laugh she dumped the bag's contents into the fountain's basin.
Rubber duckies.
Rubber duckies of all shapes, sizes, and colors floated in the water. Some devil duckies, some costumed duckies, a unicorn ducky, a gay pride ducky ("It's 'rainbow ducky'!"), and there was even a ducky dressed up like Frank 'N Furter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show ("I got that one from Mom!"). They bobbed and floated throughout the water, and the 'Mama Duck' pony watched with pride.

The time of day eluded Irenes as she rested in the far end of the fountain in Traverse Town. Eternally night, it was easy to get lost in thoughts and dreams. The fountain was still deep enough for her to swim in, in time it had become more of a pool than an actual fountain. Changes that had been made to accomodate the more aquatic of the realm's children.
The sound of a soft splash as something hit the water caught her ear, pulling her from her hazey daydreaming. Ducking down under the water, she began to swim towards the sound, ripples slowly rolling over the top of the water from where the splash had occurred.
As she drew closer, she noticed a shadow overtop of her. Rolling on her back under the water she looked up to notice a tiny, duck shaped object floating slowly passed. Cocking a brow, the mergirl slowly raised herself to peer over the waters edge. Definitely a rubber duck.
Oh what an oddly dressed rubber duck though. Another soft splash drew her attention to the fountains edge. There she saw a tiny centaurette playing with more ducks, a funny looking raincap on her head. Oh and what bright hair she had. Multicoloured, like Irenes, but more rainbowlike instead of the subdued blues, turquoise and purples her own had.
Quietly she moved closer, ducking her head back under the water. Grinning like a child, she moved slowly to the waters edge, then quickly raised her head out of the water.

The centaurette threw her hands up into the air, sending rubber duckies all over the place. With a shriek, she reared up into the air before taking off at top speed.
When she was about a block away, she realized that she -had- to save her ducklings. That's what Mama Ducks did. So, she turned back around and ran back to the Pool of Pony-Eating Monsters, still flailing her arms about wildly.
She quickly bent down and started to scoop up as many rubber duckies as she could before she fell over onto her side and continued to flail like a turtle that had gone upside down.
