Tiffany picked new Queen Anna's lace flower, standing in a field of them. She wondered how long they would last, lately they hadn't been lasting as long as they had in the winter. Did it have something to do with the weather? How rude of the flowers to wilt while in HER hair. Didn't they know who she was?!?!
She thought about her previous encounters. Most had ended badly, and with someone being mean to her for no reason, saying she was mean or something horrid like that. Tiffany didn't understand how one could be so cruel so such a beauty as herself!
Only two had gone well. Kinda two, at least. With Ariston, she had had a good talk with him, and found that they shared both similar looks and mindset. Even though he was a Kalona, he was quite kind. And then there was Guilian. He was nice at first, telling her how pretty he was. Then the jerk got all mean, and was trying to be her mate. Or something, she wasn't really sure. He was confusing, and left her alone in the cave in the end.
That was the big problum: others just didn't understand how lucky they were to get to speak with her! They should hang on every word SHE said and listen to them. Maybe if others just knew what they were suppose to do, it wouldn't be such a hassle for her. Ah, well. The mare certainly couldn't help that there was a surplus in stupidity in this world.

"I'm telling you, Ariston, nothing is EVER as simple as it was when we were younger. Strange, isn't it, to think of how changed we are from when we were first starting out, newly grown into the fine stallions we are today? Back when we didn't have to think about families, back when there was nothing to occupy our time but the satisfaction of our own personal needs and desires..."
Had it not been for the devilish grin on Guilian's face as he spoke, his words might have been prime fodder for an arguement on the part of basically everyone that knew him. After all, while it was true that he was now a father...no one could ever accuse Guilian of living for anything but himself, especially his desires. And while perhaps his companion wasn't as debauched...Ariston was hardly an example of Soquili charity himself!
However, Guilian had always enjoyed waxing philosophical, especially in the company of his friend. Today was the first time he'd had a child-free meeting with Ariston in a while, so making up for lost time seemed to be on the program. That in mind, the two stallions were walking along together, discussing the principle of how the more things changed, the more they stayed the same...which was nice.
"Wouldn't you agree?" This with a teasing wink at the much taller white stallion beside him. They in many ways must appear an incongruous pair; Ariston was tall, pale, and a kalona, yet seemed to radiate an air of elegance; Guilian, on the other hand, was shorter, slighter, and almost radiated an air (and a look) of vibrancy. Yet in spite of outward differences, the two were as close as ever, as one could probably draw from their conversation.

"Oh course I agree," He gave Guilian one of his normal goofy grins, and trudged along next to him. "When we were younger, we did whatever we wished! I remember when I showed up, females were clinging to me constantly, but now, all they want to hear about his my children." He laughed, oh females, they were sooo predictable. "Though, you NEVER seem to have that problem, and I will always be a bit envious of that." Now, of course when it came to hair and beauty, Ariston was obsessed, but he knew Guilian had some 'skill' that even he could never grasp!
It was no matter though, he was as happy as ever, just figuring life out, and letting his family grow together. And, it was always refreshing to wander out with Guilian, and strangely, they hand't run into any females yet on their walk together. Usually it was a fun gimick to just chat away together, to see who could swing away with her first.
They were always good at knowing when one was winning and whatnot, but for some reason, their day was just a simple one at the start.
"My, I hope I am not getting old," He put his head down exhaustedly, looking at his in-shape friend. "I should fly more often, I feel as if I have been lazy lately. At least my figure is the same, but, I really should take care of myself more." Though, chasing after kids all day DID feel like enough of a workout most of the time.

"Perfect" said Tiffany to herself, not even looking at her reflection to check, as there was no pond or such near. Oh no, she didn't need to look in order to know she was perfect. Even if she had put the flower in in the most sloppy manner, she would be perfect.
Tiffany knew that if she didn't strive to be so impeccably clean and well decorated, she would still be as radiant as ever, easily being more beautiful then any other. But she felt as if striving to become as gorgeous as she was, to bring herself to the very peak of perfection, set her apart from others. See, to her at least, perfection was not a point, but an area. You could be a bad perfect, a good perfect, or an amazing perfect. She shot for amazing, and of course, got it every time.
Her eyes perked. Voice? Did she hear voices? They were quite familiar, as if she had heard them quite recently. Maybe she had? They were stallions. Her amazing hearing, as was the rest of her self, picked up the sounds perfectly. They were close, and to her left.
From the right, a ways away, she saw the two. One's bright red color stuck out, as well as one's huge Kalona wings. "Ariston!" she said with a smile "How luck you are to see me!" she said, then calling to the other "Guilian. How...unfortunate" she finished, still a bit bitter about their last encounter. Perhaps she would let him apologize for acting so horridly.

Glancing sideways at Ariston, Guilian gave his friend a sly grin. So Ariston was always asked about his children, eh? "Well, there isn't that much of a secret to it, Ariston; merely don't bring them up unless the situation merits it. For some reason, even the most independantly minded of mares can take issue with the idea of being with a father. However, that's not always the story if you have one of your children WITH."
For some reason, paradoxically SEEING a devoted father was a turn-on in many cases; he'd learned this when his kids were young, and used it more than once to his advantage. His children had been very accomodating like that...well, the boys at least. "As long as you don't bring them up to mares when they aren't around, I can't think of any reason why they would hinder you. Perhaps you are simply not trying hard enough, or maybe that selectivity is catching up to you?"
As though EITHER one of them was getting old! The very idea...
However, the very idea of running into Tiffany again was almost as novel, and for a moment Guilian's shock showed in his expression before it curved into an amused grin. "Well well, if it isn't Tiffany-Chica, looking as charming as ever." His chuckle implied that there was more to be said, but for now...
Glancing at Ariston, he adopted his blandest look and dullest tone of voice before commenting, "look, Ariston, it's your lookalike friend!"

"I don't bring it up, I think it IS brought up because Loveless is always tagging along with me." He laughed, only because that statement was just too true for both of them. But Guilian was right, he was always more knowledgeable on these subjects. His advice and words contiously helped Ariston, especially since he was too lazy to think about them himself at times! Ariston was about to respond more, until he noticed Guilian's expression change, and the conversation change as well. He turned his head quickly to see who was in front of them.
So Tiffany had arrived? Ariston only chuckled, seeing her reaction to Guilian, and then hers to his. "Yes we do look alike, its a bit scary, yes? Bu I wonder, what happened between you two?" He gave Guilian a silly grin and said the words quietly, but then turned his gaze to Tiffany.
"Yes Tiffany, don't you just look lovely. What brings you to this area m'dear?" He gave her a pollite bow, and brought his head up slowly. "I see you two have met before?" He glanced back and forth between Guilian and Tiffany. "Well, then this will sure make for a nice discussion." Well, Ariston hoped so, at least. He had already talked with Tiffany for quite awhile last time, and it was nice to just sit and blabber on about drama and the idiots in the Soquili world. But, who knew what Guilian and Tiffany talked about. That seemed to pick at his curiousity.
"Well, isn't this nice." He said, just trying to lighten everyone up.

Tiffany smiled, happy to receive the compliments of the two stallions. They were right, she DID look charming. Of course she was always like that, but it was quite nice for them to point it out. She hated how rude some were: they KNEW she was gorgeous, but instead of pointing it out, they simply ignored her or attacked her. What justice was there in the world? "So happy to see you, Ariston!" she said, smiling brightly at her friend as the became closer. "And Guilian, you look as...red as ever, I supose" she said to him. Tiffany wasn't one to forgive and forget very easily. She usually held a grudge until one day she simply forgot why she was angry at a particular soquili, and went on with her business, much to the confusion of the others.
"I'm here picking more Queen Anna's Lace. It is my flower, you know. All of them are mine" she said, smiling at the field of the flowers blooming. Almost as pretty as she was. Almost.
"And what brings you two stallions here, hmm? It seems we run across each other quite often, hmm? But then again, it must be an amazing site for others to see such amazing soquili all together in such an amazing place" she said, meaning mostly herself, but making it plural so the others wouldn't feel so terrible about how inadequate they must look standing next to Tiffany, the most amazing mare in all the lands.
Tiffany reached down and picked another, placing it at the base of her tail, and remembering when she had dared put her flower on Guilian's ear. How foolish of her! These flowers were made for her, and her alone, complimenting herself perfectly. Ariston could probably pull them off because of how similar he looked to Tiffany, but Guilian required the darker roses in order to match because his colors were so drastically different.

How red indeed. As though that could ever be anything but a compliment to one who prized his vibrant coat as much as Guilian! Consequently, it was with sound sincerity that Guilian swept Tiffany a bow, rolling both greeting and acknowledgement into one smooth gesture. "As always, your words ring with a clarity all their own, Tiffany-Chica."
Glancing back from the mare to Ariston, Guilian answered his friend's comment with a slight wink before murmuring "probably not what you'd think, my friend." However, brightening up a bit in his most conversational of fashions, he continued at a much more auidble volume when he resumed speaking.
"So this is where you get your flowers, eh Chica? Well, it was neither Ariston nor my own intent to disturb you while at work; the two of us were merely enjoying a chance to catch up on the latest news and seem to have unintentionally wandered into your field."
There. That was polite, no? Given how things had gone their last meeting, he'd be fine leaving the majority of this talking to Ariston. "Right, Ariston?"

Well, it seemed Guilian had other things on his mind with Tiffany, but he chuckled so at his favorite word, "chica". And, in his quiet humor and distraction, he realized that Guilian had put him on the spot in talking!
"Yes well, flower picking just sounds lovely." Ariston looked at Guilian and sighed, like HE knew anything about flower picking. He hated flowers, so gross and smelly. What a distraction, if anything.
"Yes well, Gulian and I were just enjoying some fine conversation. Though, it is always nice to find another beauty in the area. Have you run into any idiots lately, my dear? Or any praise worthy spectacles?" Well that was always a start, since he knew how well the topic of idiots rolled of he and Tiffany's tongue. And, it would be most interesting to hear her say anything complementary on another Soquili. Ariston liked hearing these things, of course.
"But, I am suprised that we wandered over hear, I hope we are not disturbing you Tiffany." He chuckled, only trying to stay after Guilian in polliteness. Though, being this pollite felt kinda strange, especially since they all KNEW each other.

Tiffany smiled a bit unpleasantly at Guilian, aware of his game now. Of course, his words held so much truth, there was a good chance he meant them. In fact, why would he lie in order to woo a mare he did not find as elegant and perfect as herself.
She picked up a flower, and placed it in Ariston's hair with out asking. It suited him, just as it suited her, only not as well. The flowers were made for Tiffany, and although they complimented most, nobody could top how they looked on her, of course!
"Yes, this is where I pick my flowers. Honestly, it took me FOREVER to find a spot that had such gorgeous flowers! Not all buggy and dirty like they are in other places, when they grow in a big field, others usually respect that such perfection should be left alone"
Tiffany looked over her two friends. Both just as she last saw them, well taken care of, but certainly nothing in comparison to herself. It was a good change from the disgusting things she normally met, with dirt embedded in their fur and mane, all tangled.
"Ah, well, no. I haven't run into any idiots lately" she looked at Guilian "Unless you count him" she nodded torwards Guilian but smiling, showing that she was only half joking. But then again, the mare was half serious. She was a bit angry at him for calling her stupid.
"Oh no, no disturbance at all, Ariston. I enjoy your company, and I was getting a bit bored"

With the subtltly of much practice, Guilian took the chance offered by Ariston and Tiffany's conversation to move away from the two, away from the mare that managed to simultaneously embody physical desire and physical frigidity. She was so lovely, this one, yet quite possibly the most unseeing mare he'd ever met. She KNEW she was lovely, yet refused to take advantage of that in the most primal of fashions when she HAD to know it was a positive...
Impossible, that's what it was. Purely, simply, impossible. Best to let Ariston try to talk reason into her; listening to her deny the inevitable would only depress him.
Consequently, he didn't even notice when she baited him, taking the time to instead peruse the vast thistle field they were among. Pretty plants...but nasty stings, that was certain.

Ariston only laughed at Tiffany's comment about Guilian, and he moved his eye to gaze to the right of him. The red stallion was now missing from his sight, and he cursed under his breath at his quick tactics. It annoyed him because Guilian was too fast for him to notice apparently, but he must have had a good reason to walk away in the first place! Oh well he was over it, but now, to his next conflict!
Ariston turned his attention to another dilemma at hand; Tiffany had TOUCHED his HAIR. "Now now now.." He backed up and shook his head forcelly. "I am sorry to apologize Tiffany dear but, me and flowers don't go so well, they make me sneeze awfully." AND, SHE TOUCHED HIS HAIR! He tried to breathe deeply and not get emotional on the issue, but he flipped his mane to its usually side and felt comfort in its position. "Plus, they look better on you anyways." That seemed to be the perfect thing to throw at the end of his rant, Tiffany always liked compliments like that.
"It feels strange to be this pollite and timid, we all seem to know each other.." He curved his lip and looked at her carefully. "But, it does confuse me why you Guilian seem so.. different to each other." Well, of course he wanted to hear specifics! But, it was strange for Guilian to have a female act that way to him, so Ariston was worried on the subject.
"You know, he is one of my good friends. I hope you consider how you look at him." Ariston sighed, so unaware of their discussions.

Tiffany watched as Guilian tactfully slipped away. Coward, jerk. How DARE he leave HER! Didn't he get it? "Guilian, why have you moved away?" she said pleasantly, wondering if he was accustom to being called on his sneaky little moves.
"Fine. I thought they looked nice on you Ariston. Obviously not as nice as on me, but suit yourself. If you want to be less attractive, I guess that is up to you" she said, her voice not even hinting cruelness. But that was how Tiffany was, she didn't ever see her comments as insults. More so advice.
"You're right" she said, feeling a bit angry in remembering the past. "Well I met Guilian here, and he was absolutly wonderfully nice, kept telling me how beautiful, and because I totally am in every way, I figured he was just, you know. Doing his proper duty as an underling. But no. It turned out he was hitting on me! Who in the WORLD does that? So I told him that if he wanted to be my mate he would have to work much harder than that, but then he went onto some rant about how he didn't want to be mates but...I don't even know. SO confusing" she said, taking a deep breath. Tiffany wasn't one to mince words.

Giving Tiffany and Ariston an entirely and purely innocent look (that Ariston would no doubt see through faster than an unmoving pond), Guilian responded to Tiffany's question with a tone of wide-eyed innocence. "Why, I simply wanted to observe and admire the flowers, Chica, and it's easier to do from among them. Besides, the picture you present against them is quite lovely."
He didn't mention that she and Ariston were very picturesque together, figuring from the somewhat pained look on Ariston's face that he might not appreciate that comment. Guilian would owe him a favor for this...at some point. Maybe.

"Hah, less attractive then? I think I just saved myself, if anything." He snorted and looked at Tiffany, always hating her small remarks. "I hate how flowers wilt and die, how lame is that? You don't see me wilting and dying, so why would I incorporate with such a thing?" He laughed, feeling humorous on the subject. "But oh well, nothing to argue over." He couldn't just let it be, though.
Ariston raised a brow at 'what Guilian did', and he only smirked when she finished speaking. "What is wrong with that? That is what guys do, they hit on females. I don't understand, what is right in your mind then when it comes to attraction?" The discussion of attraction hadn't really hit him and Tiffany, so this was all new to him. "Its a form of giving attention, which I thought you loved Tiffany?" Man, females were always confusing!!
"Besides, why so upset still? I'm sure you both can work it out." He grinned, now humored by the subject area. "Why not figure things out here and now?"
