((This is a Private RP between Skye Starrfyre and Myself. Please do not post unless asked. )) ----------------------------------- Azariel stared out at the meadow directly in her line of sight. The deep green grass shifted easily in the wind and were any Soquili hungry, they would find quite a delicious morsel awaiting them. At the moment, Azariel was neither hungry nor looking at the grass. Her mind was elsewhere, turned more into herself, than outside. It was becoming a bit of a common practice. Her mind would drift off at odd itervals, she could be doing anything and it would simply spiral back to a certain stallion, no matter what she had been concentrating on before. It was becoming rather tiresome and she had no way to deal with it other than force it away-which merely made it force its way back more often. His leaving did little to help the situation and his promise to return in a month, even less so. She had a single month to figure everything out, and that was very, very little time indeed.

On the other hand, or hoof as it may be, Katarina was hungry. She'd been dining on delicious fruit since she'd stumbled upon the Hatter's grove and, while fruit was all fine and dandy, she craved something not as sweet. Afterall, she had her girlish figure to watch out for, didn't she?
"Mmm." She wandered out to where the grass was the greenest, dipping her head down to munch on the beautiful blades. This was definately what she needed. The only thing that would make it better would be a nice stream running right through the grass so that she could wash down every bite with a sip. Oh well, she'd just go find water afterwards...

Green-blue eyes shifted as movement was sighted in the corner of her eye. Turning her head slightly and becoming mildly annoyed as a mass of hair decided to move into her vision--hair which was tossed out of her eyes with the same annoyance--she managed to catch a glimpse of the other that so happened to come into the meadow.
What she could see of the other Soquili, for indeed it was one and a mare if she had any sense, she was quite content to use this meadow to snack on. Azariel's gaze slipped downward for a second to look at the grass before casually looking over again.
She was tempted to go over and greet the other mare, but the thought of distrupting another's meal added to the fact that at the moment, Az didn't really care to do much of anything, she just didn't muster the energy. So with a shrug, her gaze shfted away and back inside of herself.

After a moment she found herself assaulted by the strangest feeling. It was as if... As if someone was watching her. She shivered, lifting her head as her ears swiveled to see if she could hear anything.
No, nothing but silence... But, as the feeling was still there, she turned slowly, golden eyes gleaming as they caught sight of a pretty little mare. "Darling, didn't anyone ever tell you that it's impolite to stare. Or, rather, it's moreso to fail to announce yourself when happening upon another?" She was trying so hard to remain serious; resisting the urge to break out into a grin as she awaited the other's response.

So her presence had been noted? Well, at least she had something to actually do now. Being pulled from her thoughts was always fun. Flicking her tail once she turneda raised eyebrow to the other mare.
"As I was here first," She pointed out casually, "It is more of you happening upon me." She shrugged, not that it mattered to her at the moment who happened upon whom, "But I apologize if you think I was staring at you, I wasn't."As far as she knew, she hadn't even been looking at the other, her apology was just politeness shining through.

"In that case, I suppose I should apologize as well, no?" She dipped her head low in bow of sorts, raising her gaze to look at the other mare. She was lovely if not a bit lacking in the coloration department; a welcome sight after the brightly colored ones she'd been meeting. "My name is Katarina, and who might you be, dear?"

Azariel managed a smile and bobbed her head back in greeting, "I'm Azariel. It's nice to meet you, Katarina." She replied softly, taking the time in this simple greeting to get a better look at the mare.
She was rather...uniquely coloring, the stocking that covered her from hoof to flank were varying shades of purple with an interesting lace design at the top. Azariel had never personally met anyone who looked like her, but that wasn't to say she wasn't beautiful in her own way. Personally, Az wouldn't have minded having that coloration on herself, sometimes it was a bit clear when she was too plain.
"What brings you to this place, Katarina?" She asked finally, canting her head to the side a bit. She was allowed to be curious at this point, no harm would come from it.

"You may call me Kat if you'd like, dear." She chuckled, giving her head a light toss. "Names as long as ours can tend to be a mouthful, can they not?" Her brow lofted slightly as she continued to grin. She was in a rather good mood today; good for anyone whose path she crossed.
"I should think it was clear what brought me here. The grass is the sweetest I've tasted in quite some time, yet still bitter enough for it to be a contrast to the early summer apples." She took a deep breath, releasing it slowly. "And you, dear? What brings you here?"

Azariel smiled back, "Then you can call me Az," She replied smoothly, extending the same bit of informality to the mare.
She shrugged a bit, "A mouthful they can be, but they give others a chance to make up interesting nicknames to prevent themselves from having to use full names." She pointed out, just because she could. Normally she wasn't one to care very much.
Azariel blinked once at the shift in conversation--not that it was an abrupt change, she just wanted to gather her thoughts. "Me? I..." She looked around and the meadow, remembering the solitude she had had until Katarina had come, "I'm just here to think." She admitted, sighing.

"Az..." Her brow furrowed slightly as she pondered for a moment. "Az... You haven't, by any chance, met an odd stallion by the name of Aziraphale, have you? Strange how coincidence happens when you least expect it." She chuckled, highly amused by her own train of thought.
"Yes, some of them can be interesting... But others?" She snorted softly, mood changing quickly from bright to slightly annoyed. "Some stallions tend to come up with terrible nicknames. I have been called 'Kitten' when I am, obviously, not a cat, but a Kat."
Once more her mood shifted and she smiled softly at the other mare. "Thoughts? Sometimes it helps if you share them with others, dear."

Azariel shook her head, "No, I have never met anyone by that name," She blew a stray strand of long hair out of her vision. She really needed to get it cut. "I suppose you mean that we have the same nickname, then?" She asked, glancing at the other mare before tossing her head to get the hair out of her eyes completely. As usual, it didn't help a bit.
Az grinned despite herself, "Ah, I can see where nicknames wouldn't be very fun when something like that happens." She grimaced a bit, "He tried to butcher my name when I first met him. Lousy male." She mumbled absently. Turning her attention back to the situation, she shrugged, "Maybe it's to show affection?" She suggested, unsure of how the other mare would take to such a comment.
Azariel shook her head, a bit embarrassed, "No, no, it's nothing. Nothing incredibly important. It's just....confusing, annoying and altogether baffling." She sighed again, "But when I think about, that's nothing new." She laughed softly, "Ah, ha, ha, I must sound deranged or something." She admitted once more.

"That you do, but I assure you the similarities cease there." She chuckled, giving her own head another light toss out of habit. "He is as white as freshly fallen snow with hair the color of a golden sunset. You, dear, are a wonderful sight for eyes that have grown weary of brightness."
She laughed once more, tail twitching behind her. "Stallions tend to do things like that. Their mouths work far faster than their minds can keep up..." Most stallions, at least. She was begining to wonder if the same was true of the one she was now residing in the same grove as. "Affection, you say?" Now there was a thought.
"Deranged? No, dear. After meeting those I've met, you sound perfectly sane... If not a bit confused, as you've just said. Does this confusion have something to do with a stallion, perhaps? Maybe the one that could not pronounce your lovely name, Azariel?" Her brow lofted slight. "It sounds as if you could use another mare's open ears."

"Oh..." Again, neither the name nor the desrciption rang any bells, though why anyone would use a fake name was beyond her. The other mare's compliment was a bit surprising though and Az could feel her lips twitch upward, "I'm glad to be of service, then," She replied, with mock-seriousness.
Az groaned softly, "You're telling me," She replied, sighing, "Honestly, we were having a good time and then suddenly he starts bringing up children." She stomped a hoof in mild annoyance, "He pulled that out of thin air, I swear--" She stopped and realized that she was going a bit off subject, "Ah, I'm sorry." She mumbled, quite embarrassed by her actions.
Azariel laughed softly, wondering who she was being compared to, she had never met someone else she would consider in the deranged department. Her tail flicked again and she fell into silence for a bit, debating whether or not to say anything on the subject. Telling all of her problems to someone she had just met was not necessarily the greatest idea.
Finally, she managed to say, "It might have to do with that yes," She admitted, "And he can pronounce my name well enough now," Her ears flattened in mild annoyance, "Not that he does very often."

"As you should be." She laughed in response to the false attempt at seriousness, winking at the other mare as she did so only to turn around and find herself quite serious. "Children? His own from another relationship or was he expecting you to bare them? A stallion should never expect something such as that from a mare... Unless the two of you have been together for quite some time now. Of course, you don't seem of the right age for a relationship of that length."
She snorted softly, tossing her head once more. "At least he can say your name properly now... The stallion whose grove I've been spending nights in can say my name just fine. He just... Chooses not to."

Azariel snorted, "He expects me to eventually have them," She responded calmly, rolling her eyes, "He even had the gall to say I'd look a bit better if I was a bit more plump because of it." Just remembering that entire conversation irked her. She wasn't particularly fond of anything down that line of thought in the first place, his talk of wanting children-and apparently quite a few-had thrown her for a loop.
"He told me that if we ever wanted the relationship to be more than friends, that I would eventually have to agree to have his children," She explained a bit more clearly to both herself and the other mare. She shook her head again and tried to calm herself, "Our relationship is not even close enough for him to consider that," She rumbled, anger turning her voice just a bit harsher, "Now matter what he says about anything."
She raised an eyebrow at Katarina, "So, he chooses not to call you by your name and gives you a nickname instead, just to tick you off?" She smiled faintly, "I'd say he just does it to see your reaction." She could say that from experience, Cael did it all the time.
