Since the day was hot and sticky, Vodka found himself roaming in the forest, hiding from any glares of sunlight. His fur was too dark to handle the bright rays, so he usually lurked around in any kind of shade. His hair was also ridiculously long, and he always bickered to his mother about passing such an annoying gene on.
He sighed and slowed his trot, feeling exhausted from the stale air. Everyone had always said how nice summer was, and how bad and frigid winter was. Now, when he thought about he, he actually enjoyed the wintertime when he grew up, since summer meant nothing but sluggish activities and humid everything! But, he had had some good moments, swimming in the summer time was enjoyable, and also summer nighttimes. Nothing could compare to a summer night's sky, and he trailed off on a though, before realizing how thirsty he was. He desperately searched for a cool stream of water, looking left and right and trying to find a temperature change in the air.. Even if he could just shove his head into the water, he would be satisfied with the cool feeling that the water would give.
Vodka also was just happy to be off on his own, away from his troublesome mother. His mother was just, a mess all of the time, and he was getting sick of catering to her needs. But, he worried about her so, but definitely needed some time on his own. It was just too much to handle, so that's why he let himself venture out on his own.

Echo was trudging through the stream, snapping at those STUPID, STUPID butterflies. Even when she's standing in the water! They just... moved right up her... to her face. Oooo, such a lovely bree- NO. No, she needed to be rid of them. Forever. A hoof shot out, taking down one of the annoying little buggers.... and another one was there, taking it's place, dancing around her head, and her ankles.
She finally threw herself down under a tree. She was wet and soggy, not that she minded, and thoroughly defeated by the sheer stupidity of the little bugs. Her tail floated in the water still, and she watched it, glaring at the mass of curls that made her life so much trouble. It was heavy, so she had some troubles flying. Curly, so it was matted and gnarly far too often. Long, so she couldn't get a breeze- and when she did, it wrapped around her legs so she tripped.
Echo was defeated by her very nature. Bugger.

Well, Vodka was able to find a stream, though he was very suprised to see what was actually going on. A mare was utterly distraught by something, and Vodka just stared until he reached the main area of where she stood. Such an interesting mare, with curls that made his own hair feel heavy! "Excuse me Miss, is everything alright?" She looked exhausted from doing something, but he couldn't figure out what.
He looked around at the surrounding wondering if anyone else was around. Hopefully nothing dangerous had done this to her, he would just feel awful! But, the female didn't look like she was in any pain, she just looked, extremely annoyed!
He crept closer and flicked his hair out of his eyes. He had a better view of her now, and noticed she had wings just like his buddy did. "Do you need anything? I wish I could help.." It was always pollite to help a lady out, and he wondered what he could do for her sake.

She blinked up at the creature that approached her with naturally red-rimmed eyes. And stared. So unique! Were those bubbles in his feet? And he had a stripe that went from nose to bottom. She stood, giving the stallion a polite little nod. "Everything alright!" she parroted.
Why was he creeping? She knew she might look like a sea monster, wet and soggy, and covered in- A butterfly landed on the end of her nose, and she closed her eyes. Counted to three. Her mouth shot open and she tried to bite the stupid thing. Crunchyflies. But alas, she failed. It perched on her ear, rubbing it's legs together.
She was oing to cry for real now. She launched her heavy body back at the water with a gutteral cry of rage, and rolled. Like a maniac.
Must... be rid.... of the STUPIDflies. She'd had enough!

Vodka's eyes widened as he watched what was really going on. Well, she said everything was alright, but now things seemed to be worse! "Butterflies won't hurt you ya know! They just fly around and sit on things." He watched her rolling back and forth, and he leaned himself against a tree in a sort of dazed shock. What the heck was going on here? He was SO confused. He had never seen a mare act like this.
What confused him the most was what he should do in this scenario. And, what could he do, also. "Uhh.." he tilted his head and sighed, before leaving the tree to stand on the waters edge. "Are you sure you don't need help? Maybe I can help you swat butterflies?" He stuck his legs into the water, and felt the chilling bliss it held. Heck, even if she didn't need help, he should just relax in the water!
He was concerned, though, and even if he didn't know the mare personally, she just seemed so frustrated at her current scenario. He entered the water himself, and dragged his long hair beside him. He paddled his feet and stood at the side of her, continuing to watch with a friendly grin.

Echo stared at him, and then giggled. "Fly around. Sit on you. Grrrrr." The last noiuse was a half-mangled thing forced out around clenched teeth. After a few moments of nigh hysterical giggles, she turned back to the stallion, who was staring at her like... wait. He wasn't staring at her like she was a maniac? "Help. Swat." Make them go away! She stuck a leg out, and made a stomping motion, just so heppening to get lucky and take out one of the bugs. Her wings puffed up defensively as another one came to rest on her back, and she tore at the vines on her legs again. They simply had to have some sort of... demonic power to attract butterflies. And not just any butterflies. BLUE butterflies.
Echo was cursed, in more ways than one, it seemed. And right now she'd rather have the butterflies gone than her voice back.

Hmm so she did want him to help? Vodka cocked a brow at her lack of words, and didn't now what else to do except.. help her! He swung at a butterfly himself, watching it go away for the moment. "Like that?" He said, finding this entire thing very silly. It was silly but, he couldn't help not get involved. "Why are there so many butterflies?" He swung back and forth, feeling exhausted, and wondering where she was getting the energy to do this.
He stopped for a second only to watch her struggling more. "I don't understand, why are there so many butterflies?" He knew nothing about the female, and felt there was something mysterious about it all.
Plus it was strange because, they wouldn't leave her alone! "What are you Miss?" He looked at her, feeling kinda eerie.

She gave him a faint smile as the butterflies gave up on resting on her- for the moment. "Like that. Help." she ducked her head in thanks. Looked about. Butterflies gone for the moment.... And she ran for shore, flinging herself down, sides heaving. So hot, and wet, and ugggg. She hurt. The stallion was asking her questions she couldn't answer. WHAT she was was a soquili, obviously. WHO she was was the question. Either way, she replied with her typical response to their questions. "Miss... miss... miss..." A shoulder moved in a graceful shrug. She would need his words to explain further. Then again, for that, she'd need him to be a good guesser. Or have an active imagination.

Ok so, he was doing something right, but then she quickly ran back onto the ground, leaving him in the water. He of course followed her, wisping his wet hair behind him. He looked groggy and wet too, but he didn't mind. It felt SO much better then being extremely hot.
"Miss?" Ok, What?! He stared at her blankly, and opened his mouth sort of shocked. "What's your name, then?" Did she have a name? Or, did she even know it? "My name is Vodka." He nodded, feeling strange for talking to her so weirdly. "Are the butterflies gone for now?" He looked around them, to see if the coast was clear.
It sort of felt like he was babbling on, and talking to himself, since the mare didn't respond to most of what he said. "I don't understand, what are you saying with Miss? I know you are a Miss." He shook his head confused. "Miss Wind Soquili?"

She kind of stared at him for a minute. Ohhh, if only she could talk. Because this one... would obviously take a while to say anything useful. "I saying my name." she said slowly. She tried again, making the echoing words. "MISS, Miss, miss, miss, miss....." her head tilted, and she looked at him expectantly.
Her hair was dripping dry, and starting to curl back up around her, no longer frizzing. And she was starting to get hot again. She moved past him, ducking into the frigid water, and coming back out, still trying to pay close attention to the male in front of her- on the offchance he got it this time.

Wow, she sounded like a.."Echo?" His ears perked up and he looked her smiling. "Is that your name, miss? Echo?" He flicked his tail and looked at her excitedly, as if solving one mystery so far. "That's a pretty name, it is nice ot meet you then, Echo." He bowed pollitely, and looked back at her gleaming.
He hadn't dried off yet, so he noticed her movement back inot the water. "So, you are unable to speak, Echo? Or, what can you say I guess?" She wa so quiet, it was kind of odd. But, it was more intriguing at the same time, and he watched her constantly but was less confused now. It seemed he was going to have to figure some things out, but he was up for the challenge! Anything to talk to a pretty lady, well, that's what he always told himself!
"Echo, are you ok now? From the butterflies and all?" He looked at her, concerned for her energy.

She smiled, looking pleased. "My name is Echo." she agreed, and gave Vodka a warm smile. "Nice to meet you, Vodka."The butterflies were creeping back up on her, but she was too tired to fight them again. "I can speak...." kinda. It was awkward now, and she gave the stallion an apologetic grimace. "I need help to speak." she explained finally. Couldn't explain further. How frustrating.
....
She really needed to get this taken care of. Maybe a shaman, or the princess could help her?

She said that she needed help speaking, but for a few moments he was able to hear her lovely voice. "Well, maybe I can help you speak then?" He smiled at the mare, feeling a bit sorry for her struggle. Maybe it wasn't her fault that butterflies were chasing her, or that she had trouble speaking. Who knew what really caused the problem, but there were other things that he wondered about Echo.
"So, does this mean that you never really speak to others?" That would just be sad, because he could see others stomping off or making fun of her. That just wasn't fair to Echo, especially if she couldn't help it. "Since I walked over here, I want to help." Hmm, what was the most simple thing they could start at? Maybe little discussions would make Echo happy?
"What is your favorite color, Echo? Mine is red." He wiggled the feathers on his body, showing that they were red.

... Maybe he didn't understand. Or maybe she had been about as clear as mud. But she was doing the best she could, really! "I... need help to speak color." she explained again. "I need help to speak to others." She had no words of her own. She glanced over the stallion again, gaze again drawn curiously to his feet. He had bubbles in his feet, she just knew it. Did that mean they could float? Or rather... did they move?

It was pretty clear at this point that she needed help, and it almost felt like she was repeating everything he was saying. "Red, Blue, Orange, Purple, Pink, Green?" He looked at her, wondering if that would help with the mystery at all. Then, he saw her looking at his legs, and he looked back up at her confused. "Bubbles? Spots? I got that trait from my mother." He chuckled, knowing that many commented on that before.
What else could he help her speak with? "Are you ok at the moment? Are you- hungry, tired, comfortable, fine, happy, sad?" He looked at her again, searching for many words in his head.
