I've been teaching myself guitar through two books I own, they are
fairly basic books, for absolute beginners. I've got most of the basic
stuff down, like finger picking (have been practicing that like mad),
chords of course, etc...
but I'd like something more.

I'd really like to find a good website that will teach me how to read
more complicated tabs. In beginner books, they generally don't teach
you any songs, but usually just simple riffs for practice. I own many
magazines with guitar tabs to supposedly easy to play songs, but I don't
understand the way it's laid out at all. In the beginner books they lay
it out very simple for you to understand.

Unless I can read that, I don't know how I'll be able to learn any good
tunes. I'm sure it's very simple, I just need it explained simply.

That is the biggest issue I have. None of my books give me any insight to
reading guitar tabs.

Among that, I'd just generally like to find a website that will explain
other basic to moderate techniques/tricks, more chords, and anything
else I'll need to know.

The other biggest issue I have is with every website I've been to.
It's all wall of text. I don't know if I'm the only one that feels this way,
but if I have to read something that is a 30 page wall of text, it's a major
turn off. Then again I am very impatient when it comes to that sort of
stuff. I want something explained to me as simply as possible, but still
very informative.

My last option if I can't find any really good websites is guitar lessons.
I'm hoping I won't have to though, most every guitar player I look up to,
as well as my family members, have all learned guitar without lessons.
Why can't I? whee

Phew, wall of text. Sorry people.

Meh. If you find anything, let me know. XD I've been teaching myself through a few books I own as well.

-snort- Almost all the men on my dad's side of the family play guitar. <3 And I think they all learned by themselves, too. ^^ And some of them are excellent. <3 They're probably the only ones I'd go to for a little help, but I haven't yet.

Same here, all the men on my moms
side of the family can play. Except for my Grandpa.. XD

I would highly reccomend lessons at a guitar shop. I took bass lessons, and it helped quite a bit.

For the most part, I taught myself, but I know a guy and he gives me tips all the time. I just started to play, because I cannot stand reading the books with scales.

    Bo-ring.

I also think walls of text are a turn off. D<

Lessons are too bloody expensive. ;w; 'Round here anyways, they cost at least twenty bucks a lesson, usually a half hour to an hour long. D: I can learn better I think just going over to my sister's and playing with my nephew for a while, not to mention have more fun probably. Or I could visit my dad and learn from him and others. I did get a coupon for a free private lesson at this one place that I might take advantage of though. <___<
