Anyone else have any theories on why WW went down the tubes?
I mean... besides the really riddiculous operating cost they apparently had ($300-350,000/year) why did it fail?
I personally think they were trying to make it too child-friendly. They were limiting the attention they could have gotten from older people (those with MONEY) by putting all these rules in place to make it the perfect place for little kids (those without MONEY) to hang out. It wasn't really conducive to attracting people who can actually do something to help them pay their operating costs, and at the insane $350,000/year operating cost (again I WTF at that number...) they were kind've doomed to fail... my theory anyhow.

I agree. They can still make it "safe" (like safer than Gaia...) and still make some good $. I really think they're gonna have to bite the bullet on this one.

Dream as if you'll live forever...Too bad it doesn't really fit in with what appears to be their mission statement thing... ...Live as if you'll die today.

I think their high operating cost was because while they are still small they had full time people working on it instead of volunteers. That is really hard to upkeep.
I really like their mission statement I know that it is true that the crowd with the money isn't exactly the people they are attracting. But it is still a vision and I was happy to see at least one site stick to that! Its a refreshing change to me from other places. I do believe that they can have something going on in this niche market they chose to pick out. But they just need to be maybe a little more cost efficient.
Anyways from what they say, it seems they are going to do something about it I have no idea what, but I certainly hope they can keep going!

No but anyhow, there are sites that have similar goals that weren't so restrictive. Zantarni is thriving and it is a strict no swearing no flaming site. Difference is Zantarni is way less restrictive and more engaging. ...Live as if you'll die today.

I'm not sure if anyone else thought this, but I found that it was very difficult to communicate with other members. Word limits and lack of forums you could freely post in was disheartening for me.
Also, I'm not sure if it was just that there was something wrong with my accounts, but I found that my level of citizenship never rose no matter how active I was on the site. The only time it would rise would be if I accomplished something during an event (something that only happened once for me), so I never got the benefit of being able to join a guild to really find more people to become friends with.
I don't know, maybe the only way to earn citizenship was only through events? Because I spent every day for a month on there and nothing really progressed for me. I started spending time less and less thereafter, only logging on to do the daily quiz.
Maybe others had the same problem I did, and just lost interest after not being able to get anything out of the site? ):

So is it all gone for good? Or will they eventually come back?
If they never come back I'm going to be very disappointed :C

I also found communicating hard, I lost contact with most people because I could never find them. xD

Far too many rules, but nonetheless, a very addicting site. I do miss it terribly, but constantly checking back to their site and noticing the lack of updates is frustrating. I don't know how much longer I will be keeping up.

I'm thinking that they probably wont be updating the site again sadly. Though I don't want to lose hope that it will come back someday...

WW never does anything on time... If it does theres bugs or some sort of delay... anyways I think they give us optomistic dates rather than real dates... Its almost the end of June and still nothing. I hope if/when they update the site that they dont say " we'll post some real big new 2-3 weeks from now!' all over again... xp
It was fantastic site i just hate it when the delay things or give you wrong dates...
