Loveless had changed, and it was a strange feeling. Her parents talked about maturity, and it seemed that was hitting her now. She started looking at life differently, and she very much enjoyed the change. She was more passionate about different feelings, and it helped her control her emotions. In her younger foal days, she had such a hard time shifting emotions, but now she was starting to understand herself better.

She had grown a bit, too, so she didn't feel as worthless when she would wander off on her own.

Loveless was able to scare adults now, even in her small size. It was a wonderful feeling, and it made her desire for growing up even greater. Maybe she thinked too much as a child, but she would rather think now, and do later. That was, in her mind, a main motto to live by.

Sighing, she lurked through a forest for awhile, only to find herself at a wonderful opening. It was dark and cloudy, the perfect atmosphere to run around in. She hoped for a thunderstorm, only because she loved the rumble. In her basket back in the day, those were her favorite noises.

Torment was free. Finally, after all that time of being cooped up in that tiny basket home, she could escape into the outside world to wreak the havoc she had been dreaming of in the endless nights she spent in her lonely basket.

It was one of the first of many times she would escape from her father's watchful gaze, and she was ready for mischief, mayhem, and whatever came her way.

She didn't understand much about this world... everything seemed so new and exciting. Her Father had been paying far too much attention to her brothers for him to notice her slipping away, and she soon found herself wandering out into an open field, her dark maroon hair bouncing up and down with every step she took. The dark sky above her rumbled, and it reminded her of the low tone of her Father's voice, but on a much larger scale. A bit scary, but at the same time, all too familiar to be fearful of.

Her feathered wings twitched and she snorted, the smell of flowers unfamiliar to her nose as she took in the new scents and scenery around her.

Loveless' gaze hit an unfamiliar figure, but she was intrigued because it didn't bare a friendly face. Anything friendly Loveless usually avoided, but the bright spectacle in front of her with a dark body like hers, also was around her size.

How strange was this? Loveless cocked a brow and started walking towards the figure, until she realized it was a female. Good. She hated males, they were so stupid.

"Aren't you young to be wandering on your own?" Her voice was calm, but because the filly looked a tad smaller then her, and she realized it was a newer child into the world. Loveless grinned at the thought of expanding all of the knowledge she had learned thus far, especially since there needed to be more sense in the world.

Her gaze was suprised by the wings of the child, they didn't seem to have a Kalona bloodline, but her horns told Loveless that one of her parents was a Kalona. "What kind of mix are you? It is, intriguing." Again, her voice lacked its normal snappy tone, especially since she had approached the female first. There was no use being rude to another who seemed so interesting to her in the first place.

She had almost missed it, the dark shadowy figure approaching her, since the gloomy clouds above had decided to darken the land outstretched before her.

The larger black figure's eyes glowed brightly, the gold matching the hair flowing from the back of her pitch black head. She seemed older than Torment, but not nearly old enough to be in the same category as Father. She was still much too small, but still quite fierce. Torment had never seen a pointy tail like she had, though her horns looked similar to her own. The black wings looming behind her head looked just like the leathery wings her brother Tarnish had, and the younger filly ruffled her own feathered wings in excitement.

Friend or foe, she was going to meet another being other than her family, and the thought overwhelmed her with curiosity. If the older filly attacked, Torment would do the best she could to retaliate, but it looked more as if the creature was examining her, than scoping her out as potential prey.

"I'm... I'm strong too!" Torment hissed back at the question the black filly asked. She didn't know what strong was, but Father had told her and her brothers that he would train them to be strong, so she had to at least be a little bit already... right? Her dark colored head rose proudly and one pink hoof scraped against the ground, in attempts to look as older and more outgoing as this other filly appeared to be.

Her head tilted to one side, though, when her bloodline was questioned. ".... mix? Whadya mean?"

Loveless smirked, and enjoyed the young girl's energy. "I don't doubt you carry strength but, I've had my share of bad moments out in the wild, and its best to be careful." It was neccessary advice, after all. Especially since being flung into the air by Desdemona, Loveless was much more keen on her surroundings. "There seems to be nothing in the area, though. We should be fine." She forced a smile, though it was barely kind. Her lips were pasted on one way, and that was usually frowning.

She could only grin at the silly girls reaction to her, and it wasn't that Loveless was cocky, she just carried a Pride that she had been given from her father. "Well, it is clear to me that you are part Kalona, though your wings speak to explain your other half." She walked to the side of the girl, observing the bright colors that her wings held. "These will be pretty when you grow." Though, they weren't Kalona, and Loveless was a bit taken aback by such. Though, just like Antony, the girl was half Kalona, which satisfied Loveless' tastes.

"Now, let me skip the polliteness, and ask your name?" She grinned again, and swung her tail around her side playfully. "I'm Loveless, its nice to meet another who almost seems so similar." Man her brothers were annoying, and it was hard to play with other kids who weren't dark enough.

Torment snorted, looking after where the older filly's eyes wandered. She wasn't scared of anything... besides, the scariest thing she'd ever seen was her Father, and she couldn't possibly imagine anything scarier than that! But then again... perhaps it wouldn't be unwise to at least keep what she said in mind. Who knows what could really be out there.

"Kalona..." The younger filly tested the word. That must be what this other filly was, a kalona. Which would mean Tarnish would no doubt be a kalona, since he had the same wings and horns as she did.

Grinning, she fluttered her wings as Loveless began to circle around her, showing them off proudly. Her feathers kept her warm, and made her feel special, since that was a big part of what made her and her brothers so different from one another. She didn't mind being called a mix, or part kalona. If that meant she was like the other filly, well, that sounded kind of cool, so she'd be happy to accept the fact she was half anything.

"My Father has larger feathered wings... I guess that's how I got what I have? But his are black... so I don't know why mine are colored so brightly."

She mused, thinking about it to herself. As she though more into it, she really couldn't come up with an explanation for the other colors that covered her and her two brother's bodies. Plague was dark all over, and yet she, Taint, and Tarnish all had pink and white on them? Odd, to say the least.

Shaking the confusion away from her mind, she strutted forward and tossed her short locks with a swift move of her head. "My name's Torment. I didn't realize there were more girls around here, though, Loveless. Makes things alot better... my brothers are too dumb to play with."

Strange.. Torment seemed a bit confused about herself. Also, all she kept talking about was her father, and never about her mother. Loveless tended to do the same thing, only because she despised her mother for the most part. She wasn't sure how much she should go into Torment's color, because if it wasn't from her father, then it most certainly was from her mother. "Well either way, they make your wings sort of unique you know?" No reason to make the girl feel uncomfortable, maybe she just was unsure of everything for now.

Loveless' expression changed when Torment talked about her 'dumb brothers.' "I have dumb brothers too!" A bit of childishness hit her eyes, and she stepped closer to Torment. "They drive me nuts, plus it is hard to get along with some of the other fillys around here when they are so nice. Their parents are always walking behind them, and for some reason they just annoy me." She giggled darkly, and looked at Torment in a much more friendly matter now.

"You wouldn't recognize them, they are bright and white like my father. They almost look twinish, its queer haha." Loveless didn't mind being unique in color compared to her family, but it only annoyed her because it was her mom's doing.

It was strange, and almost too similar that they both had two brothers to deal with all of the time. "You would be suprised if you saw my dad," Loveless felt like pitching in. "He is a beautiful white color with gold and blonde hair. I get my dark composure from my mother." She didn't realize she even said the word mother, and didn't pay close enough attention to her actions. Though, after a few moments, she wondered what Torment's reaction to that would be. "But, I have my father's gold hair, and hopefully I will have his beauty too." She tried to change the subject with a random thought, but looked at Torment carefully as she finished speaking.

"Unique... yeah, totally." Torment nodded agreeably as her feathers happily ruffled behind her, having no idea what it meant. But it sounded cool... so it had to BE cool, right?

Her grin grew from ear to ear and she reared back happily. "No way! Both my brothers are crazy. One's just...silly and acts more like a filly than even I do, and the other one... well, Tarnish is just scary."

It was definitely a connecting factor for Torment, to have found someone in her similar situation. She never realized there were actually more creatures like her and her brothers roaming the lands, but it made sense, the more she thought about it.

"I dunno if I'd like any of the fillys around here then," she paused, musing. "Are they anything like you, Loveless?" She was beginning to take a liking to Loveless, and saw quite a potential role model from the older filly.

Still grinning, her maroon tail swished happily and her wings twitched, listening to the other girl describe her brothers. "Well, you wouldn't be able to tell my brothers were actually, you know, brothers. Taint's all purple and pink with a horn on his forehead, and Tarnish is black 'n white with a bit of pink... and he has wings and horns that look like yours!"

Her nose scrunched up, pausing to think back on what Loveless had said. ".... mother? Wait... what's a mother?"

It was fun to hear about her brothers, and Loveless just watched with bright eyes as Torment spoke. At her next question, she only giggled a bit. "No, they aren't like me at all, actually. I think you will see as you grow and expand your landscape that there are many that.. live differently then we do." She curved her lip into a twisted smile, and walked beside Torment. "I think it is wise to be nice to comrads and friends, but to be constantly nice is just awful, don't you think?" She put her wing on Torment's shoulder, and it was something she always saw her father do when he was speaking to another. "The fillies here are childish and useless, so we shouldn't waste our time with them." Loveless moved forward again, and faced Torment respectively.

One of her brothers intrigued Loveless, especially since Torment called them 'scary'. The other didn't seem worth Loveless' time. "Why is Tarnish scary Torment?" The question was almost humorous for an outside observer, but Loveless had already gotten used to the names that Torment was speaking. "Being scary can be fun, ya know." She winked at Torment and giggled herself, feeling light and calm at their conversation.

But, what she dreaded had indeed happened. Torment had caught on to the mother thing, and Loveless thought for a moment before speaking. "Mother is the other thing that made you possible." She looked at her, carefully. It would be unwise to say more, and Loveless would wait and see what Torment's reaction was first..
PostPosted: Sat Jun 02, 2007 10:31 am

Torment straightened herself up, and raised her head up high. Loveless was bigger than her, and the younger foal did her best to try to look just as old as the other filly. Her strutting hooves paused, however, at the mention of the word 'nice'. Gray eyes turned to look into the other foal's golden ones, her eyebrows raised.

"Didn't your Father ever teach you about nice? You're not supposed to be nice... being nice only makes you look weak."

The head that once held itself high now slumped down, staring at her maroon hooves. Father had also said that having friends was weakening too. It distracted from achieving one's main purpose, from protecting and looking after oneself. But Loveless didn't seem all that weak... and she apparently had friends, and could be this 'nice' she was talking about. So, who was right, her Father, or Loveless? Could both of them be a little bit right?

She forced herself to ignore the topic, as the darker filly questioned Torment about her sibling. "Tarnish..." she mused, allowing the image of her younger brother to enter her mind. "Tarnish... he's just... frightening. Sometimes I think he wants to hurt me, which is weird, you know? And his eyes... they're so dark, you can hardly tell they're eyes!"

Her own grew big as she described them to the older girl. "It's like... he doesn't have any. Just big 'ol black holes... and you can't tell what he's thinking, 'cause he'll never tell you and you can't tell by just looking at him. Bein' scary can be fun, yeah. I mean, I like scarin' off rabbits and birds, but he's a different kind of scary... the kind I don't like around me."

Turning around, she nipped at a butterfly who had dared to cross their paths, frustrated that she missed, and tried again. Snatching the fluttering bug from the sky, she chomped down on it, disappointed in the lack of taste it provided. Oh well. Hopefully soon enough, Father would let her try to hunt for her food. She was growing stronger by the day, so why shouldn't she be able to?

With one wing dangling from outside of her mouth, she paused at Loveless's last comment, before returning to chew up the bug and swallow.

"Mother... made me possible? But Father said, he said that he was what made me. That me and my brothers were his. So... what would a Mother have to do with any of that?"

"Lovely, girl," Loveless smiled darkly, "My father is too nice, he has taught me mixed opinions on nice. He is rather nice, but others don't recognize that as a weakness. I am only going by my own ways, you know." Torment's father seemed to have a HUGE influence on her. "Do not worry, as you grow, you will create more opinions on things yourself, that is the pleasure that life gives. Weakness is.. complicated." She sighed, thinking of where to conitnue. "Opinions create weakness, but one's ways and actions do as well. I am not speaking of the nice lovedy dovey crap, but I enjoy liking those that I relate to." She watched Torment rip apart a butterfly, and she only cringed at how disgusting it must have tasted.

She tilted her head as she spoke about her brother, and smiled in a greedy fashion. "I am sorry your brother is so scary, though I enjoy his description quite a lot. I am sure he will grow to be strong, especially since he is already attributing such actions." She looked at Torment's eyes again, and smiled. "But do not worry, some are just more serious when young. We all have time to make ourselves what we want." She grinned happily.

Loveless hit her tail against a rock, only to feel the pain as refreshing. Once again, her father must have been something, alright. "Your correct, your father did make you. But, a mother and a father are required for birth." Loveless didn't know about any 'facts' about birth, but she just knew both were needed. "You are his, but, there has to be someone else. Such is nature." She looked at her, more concerned now.

Loveless wasn't very good at dealing with other's personal issues, and she cringed at the feeling of parental relationships. She was just fond of her father, and longed to be as beautiful and proud as him. Her mother was just.. too complicated for her tastes.

Opinions... that's what Torment needed to get for herself. An opinion. Loveless had one, Father had one... even Loveless's father had one! She would have to figure out a way to get her own, so she can contribute as well with her thoughts. She didn't understand what 'lovey dovey crap' was either, but from the expression on Loveless's face, it was definitely something else she could do without.

She shook her head. Loveless obviously didn't catch on to how scary Tarnish actually was, if she found him interesting. Nobody thought Tarnish was interesting... they just wanted to run away from hiim. And Torment didn't blame them. There were days when she herself wanted to run away from him. But she would force herself to stay there... one day, she too would be scary and mean like Tarnish and Father. Or at least, she hoped so.

Her ears perked as Loveless abused her own pointed tail against a rock. Was she hurting herself on purpose? It didn't seem like an accident. Perhaps she was getting frustrated with Torment's barrage of questions? She would have to cut back on questioning her, in that case, as hard as it was not to inquire about that which peaked her curiousity.

"If there has to be a mother... I wonder where mine is." She mused quietly to herself, thinking long and hard on what or who her mother might possibly be. "What is your mother like, Loveless?"

Strange.. the bouncy filly was now quiet? What did that mean? Did Loveless scare her? Did she influence her so much that she was unable to use her tongue? "Quiet now? I am suprised Torment, why are you acting so quiet all of the sudden?" She gleamed at her, and bared her growing fangs proudly. "I already said I enjoy talking to you, but why such uncertainty at the moment?" She tried to put on a warm smile, and she forcefully curved her mouth.

Yep, very strange. But, Loveless was then taken aback by her 'Mother' question. "My Mother looks like me, or, " she paused, angerly, and changed her friendly expression. "I look like her, dark, glowy eyes. But, we are very different. My mother hides all day, such a useless thing. And, apparently she doesn't have emotions, so she never gives a damn about anything." Loveless sighed, and looked at Torment's eyes again. "Her name is Heartless, and I am Loveless." That always brought a grin to her mouth, because Loveless found a heart was VERY useful, she needed opinons and standings. But, she certainly didn't need love. How stupid it sounded, anyways.

"You know.." she curved her eyes, and looked at Torment carefully. "Your dad seems like a pretty demanding fellow, I would sure show him a piece of me." Well, that was easy for her to say, especially since her father let her do ANYTHING. "What are your parents like then? From the sound of it, quite different from mine." She laughed darkly, and curved her lip.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 03, 2007 9:24 am

Torment shook her head, inwardly relieved that the foul expression on Loveless's face hadn't been caused by her incessant chattering. "I.... you just seemed a bit... mad?" She attempted to mimic the cringe Loveless had made only moments earlier. "You looked like this!"

The bounce came back into her step as they walked, for she was much happier now knowing that Loveless enjoyed her company. She was greatly enjoying being around the older filly; neither of her brothers acted like her, so it was a refreshing change of pace.

Tiny gray eyes widened, however, as that cringy angry face Loveless had made earlier came back to her. Thinking back... it had been all those mother questions that had caused the black kalona to make those faces, so Torment figured she'd probably be better from here on asking Father about these Mother creatures, instead of upsetting her new companion any further.

"Emotions? Not having emotions is good, though, Loveless!" Torment nodded fervently. "Because if you're too busy showing emotions... those can get in the way and you can get HURT."

She reframed from mentioning that her comment was based yet again off of Father's wisdom, because she didn't want Loveless to think she was just some mimic of his, like Taint would always allude her to being.

The younger filly broke into giggles as Loveless explained hers and her mother's names. It sounded kind of funny, being so similar, especially when it was obvious that Loveless didn't care much for her mother. In fact, she seemed downright angry every time she spoke of her. Was this what Hate was, that Father had spoken of?

Glowing eyes stared at her, and Loveless questioned Torment of her father. The younger of the two girls turned around, half expecting to see him looming over the horizon, and then turned back around to face the older girl.

"My... Father? Well, he's really smart. He's always teachin' me and Taint 'n Tarnish new stuff every day, 'cause he wants us to grow up big and strong like him. I think he likes Tarnish best, though, because he's always paying him more attention than he does Taint and me."

Dark little ears flattened at the mentioning, feeling a bit crushed that she found herself being neglected on occasion. Moments later, her head perked up again, and the smile was back on her face. "But he said he'd teach me to be better than her, whoever her is. I'm going to be a big mean mare one day, and everyone's gonna be scared of me!"

She strutted across the ground, feeling proud of herself. Torment wasn't about to let Loveless know that 'showing a piece of herself' to her Father would no doubt cause more trouble than it was worth, for she didn't want to look wimpy in front of the other foal. "I can't wait for Father to show me how to hunt... I wanna be scary NOW!"

"Because that is just me naturally, silly." Calling her silly was sorta fun, Loveless couldn't explain it. It was a cute little nickname that she kept using over and over, and she grinned at such. "I am usually angry, it feels more natural to do so and be angry. I apologize for confusing you." She lowered her head kindly.

She snorted at Torment's emotion comment though, and brought her eyes on the child. "Its more worth it to feel pain, saddness, and even happiness from the littlest of things. I know it is hard from an outsiders perspective to understand but, my mother does not FEEL anything, so therefore she stands around, almost as a cadaver. Worthless, and barely thinking at all." She sighed, it was a harsh way to look at it, but it was the only way that Loveless knew how to react to her mother. No Pride or feelings, it was disgusting.

Loveless still didn't know what to think of Torment's father, since Ariston liked all of his children for different reason. But, she only nudged Torment playfully. "Well, then be better then him. Females are strikingly deadly, males fear us when we grow older, it is quite beautiful you know." Just remembering all of the females she encountered made her smile in delight. "Hm, to be better then another female? That is a strange thing to look at.." Loveless never thought of competition as that way, and she felt taken aback by the thought. Females were usually more companion-ish for her, so she stared at Torment blankly.

"You can be scary now, Silly." She smiled, and followed her as she moved. "It will come naturally to you eventually, that is how we are born and are to look like." Mm, such a wonderful way to live life!
