The large scale 40K version of Mordheim. Ah those were the days. Well here is a thread to talk about Inquisitor.

I more consider it a 40K version of Mordheim. But on a much larger scale.

I prefer to see it as a table top RPG designed and aimed at a higher level of players.

Yes. A good point, it is a close to a true P&P RPG as you can get with Minatures.

It's just sad that the Inquisitor community has a large problem with their ego. Honestly, if I have to hear one more time about how educated they ("Oxford!") are or how bright their toddlers are... ("I'm teaching them German and Spanish at this very moment")
The other problem is that people don't know how to balance in the game. "Oh look at me! I have a death dealing Inquisitor with power armour, frost blade, implanted death lasers and an arsenal of super psychic powahs!" Now try to imagine the look on the face of the opponent who most likely fields two or three gangers.
Yup, if it wasn't for these two things, Inquisitor would've been the greatest.

Lt_Brookman The other problem is that people don't know how to balance in the game. "Oh look at me! I have a death dealing Inquisitor with power armour, frost blade, implanted death lasers and an arsenal of super psychic powahs!" Now try to imagine the look on the face of the opponent who most likely fields two or three gangers. I admit that's a pain, and unfortunately something I've been known to suffer from, at times. Several of my characters are uber-Inquisitors, who can mostly handle anything by themselves. I don't have anything quite as bad as what you describe (they're usually limited to being good at either ranged combat, close combat or psychic powers).
Still, it's hard to balance that sort of thing. Why wouldn't a martially-minded Inquisitor have power armour, a power sword, a storm shield and a really high WS? They're supposed to be really hard, and have access to almost anything they like. Yet that inquisitor could cut through most things anyone else could field without trying, unless he happened to meet a powerful psyker or something even more overpowered than himself (and that's one of the less overpowered Inquisitors I can think of).
It's generally one of those things that needs to be sorted out with the aid of a Narrator, and all the players really need to work out beforehand what sort of power level they want to play at. If some people want to play a few gangers and others want to play Inquisitors or Space Marines then either somebody is going to have to budge or one side should be handicapped somehow. Or you could just let it be, provided they both don't mind the horribly uneven match up, but that will usually result in a very short and one-sided game...
Still, it can work out. Not all Inquisitors are tooled up death machines. My favourite Inquisitor has a laspistol and a sword, and no psychic powers. He dies a lot, but I don't let that get me down.

Indeed, it's all up to the players to decide how to create their own characters. You could use the point system in back, but that is a worthless option as it tends to favour those with high powered characters instead of small warbands of diverse people.

Yeah, the points buy works (sort of) if you're all planning to play the same number of characters, but it breaks down if you're playing duifferent sized teams. It also rates weapons based on how common hey are, rather than how good, so you can buy 2 lascannons for the price of a hand crossbow...

Sounds good, but it has to many holes in it. I think I'll stick to 40K

For some reason the Thorian Inquisitor (AKA "Fett", dubbed thus for his armour design) has not been released as of yet, while I saw him in the WD several months ago. It's almost as if Specialist Games is dead after the release of that LotR warmaster game.

hi well i happen to be a member of quite a popular =][= site and i agree playing with uber characters is no fun thats why we use ones who aren't that good it makes the game so much more fun when one of them does something outstanding.

I just found the best use ever for inquisitor parts. I'm using the Inquisitor Scale Genestealer's left arms to make my Daemon Prince have a mutated left arm, with like.. two claw bits. And i'll putty some tentacles in too. The perfect use. xd
