I bet some of you were watching the show, and suddenly thought of some Miyazaki work, cause I know I did! Savin has actually said that Miyazaki has a lot of influence over him and his work ^^
I first saw this in Spirit, actually... I just made this connection between him and Kaonashi(No-Face) from Spirited Away. Mostly black...white, borderline-creepy(though not to me!^^ I love both these guys) masks... don't say a word(even though Kaonashi grunts Oo) They really do look a lot alike. Besides that, they're both made out to be enemies, but they're really only misunderstood. 3nodding
Then the rocks that form the temples in episode 16, that just screamed Miyazaki Influence ^^ They're so cute!
So, what have you guys noticed?

Well, although although I didn't make the connection between Spirit and No-Face until you pointed this out, there were some things in the series that just seems to scream Miyazaki influence. Especially those rocks.
I find the Creators and the people dancing in the sky from Howl's Moving Castle. Yeah... I obviously can't think of what they were actually called at the moment... sweatdrop
Other than that there were a lot similarities. Quite a few of the aliens on Alwas reminded me of some of Hiyazaki's characters.

Yeah huh... Yeah, I didn't see the simularities between No Face and Spirit either until you said something. whee The first one I remember seeing was the ancients at the very end who look like the star people from Howl's Moving Castle. 3nodding

Nyuu-Chan353 I haven't really seen a connection to any of miazaki-san's work, other than what you have said. The rocks are from what movie??? The rocks aren't really from any of the movies, but just the style and how they randomly sprouted glowing legs, walked off, and merged into a temple, it looked like something the Miyazaki would do as well. It reminded me of Princess Mononoke mostly, but I'd have to go and get the movie to find out just why it made me think of it...
