Karim couldn't count the days he'd been with the pack, it seemed like an eternity but he knew it was way less. He'd watched the pack closely, observing them if you would and he found exactly what he'd expected. A bunch of wolves lusting after one thing or another... be it a warm body or bloody maw, they all wanted something. This big peaceful brute wasn't sure he really belonged here, sure he fancied a nice deer when his stomach began to rumble but he didn't kill them because well... he could. It was a mystery, he was no Seer, he couldn't read minds and find out what was going on with these wolves' heads but... he didn't need to. After meeting Lilith he knew just why they were all in this pack... well, possibly... but she was definatly an oddball, or some other more vulgar word.

Sulking slightly, Karim wandered over to the edge of the dens... something inside pushed him towards taking a nap but he didn't feel like sleeping. At the moment he was more a wandering soul lost in a forest of demons. That thought gave him an idea... he'd wander around in the forest and hope to find something interesting. He didn't have any particular duties to carry out at that moment so it was settled, he'd be on his way... With a second look at the den and a crooked smile, Karim trotted off towards the forest, hoping to find adventure and less... oddballs.

Lilith quite enjoyed the company of the purple and white marking wolf. A lot. At first it was just business. Someone to lead and to be big and strong, but wouldn't try to overthrow her. But the more time they spent together the more she was beginning to have a clouded mind. It was strange and unusual and she wasn't sure what to do with it. It wasn't just a 'wanting' it was...what was it. She wasn't sure. Karrim just made her feel things that no other wolf made her feel. Perhaps it was the gentlness or the softness he had in everything.

She wasn't so sure, nor did she care. What she did know was that the time spent apart, even if by a little, ached her so. So when she saw him leaving she decided right then and there she was going to follow. She didn't know why she should, but she wanted to.

Driscoll hunkered down low, his hind wavering in the air as he crept closer... something was moving towards him... there was no way he'd let it pass, this was his home now. A throaty growl emitted from the pup's throat which was surprising considering his age... Whatever was in front of him was either out of its mind and didn't care about their fate or just was plain out of it. Driscoll didn't care, he'd kill anything in front of him even if it was 10 times bigger than him. Perhaps this was the pup's major flaw... but good luck explaining that to him. Two blue eyes scanned the area around him before he continued to creep forward, tiny paws digging into the soil beneath his dark body. This would be the end of his prey's days... they would see no more... Upon that thought, Driscoll pounced and landed inches from a butterfly.

It flew away of course, but only for a moment... it soon landed on the pup's nose to taunt him. Driscoll snapped at it and it was gone for good. There went that pup's fun... Moping back to where he'd been the pup decided it was for the best... wasn't like a butterfly was good eating anyways.

Karim's nose twitched, he scented something up ahead but it didn't seem familiar. He recognized most of his pack's scent by now but this... it was different. Picking out the smells, Karim decided it was a pup... or maybe more... male in gender. He had to ask himself what pups were doing out in the middle of a forest but then again.... he'd been alone in his early teens perhaps... Shaking his head, the big wolf trudged towards the scent, ready to figure out what was going on and stop making things up in his head.

For a big wolf, Karim walked very softly and was often unheard as he approached others in the brush. He was careful, making sure things in his way weren't going to snap and cause alarm for whatever was ahead of him. He was pretty sure he could take on a bunch of pups but their parents had to be someplace nearby... if they weren't he feared for the pup's sanity and perhaps emotional and physical state.

"M...maybe this isn't such a good idea," Adrieal stammered as he closed in next to his brother, "That butterfly looks awfully testy..." he started before the winged creature fluttered up at him, making the young pup jump out of the way with a yap.

"Now look what you've done!" he said in fright, "You've made it angry!"

Lilith too had picked up on the smell so she padded along with ears perked forward. She was big for a female, so it took her many moons of practise to learn the art of walking without making noise, but finally she had perfected it. Curiousity was what kept her moving, longing is what kept her there, still so close to Karrim, but far back behind him so her movements could not be felt or heard.

It also helped that she had such a dark natural looking coat. She seemed to blend in with the enviroment as she walked, the trees and branches only shifting slightly as her fur touched down."

"Oh come off it, Adrieal," Driscoll growled, "What's it going to do? Tickle you to death?" His brother was so pathetic at times, well... all the time, Driscoll had soon found out. It seemed like he was afraid of everything meanwhile Driscoll feared basically... nothing. What kept him around Adriel? He'd never know but it was suspected that deep down... way deep down... Driscoll loved his brother and planned to protect him until death do him part. Groaning, he watched the butterfly flutter away again... well... if it made his brother happy he'd get that darn thing.

Watching the colorful wings flitter through the sky, Driscoll rushed towards it, moving slower as it settled on a blade of grass. As he inched forward a strange scent hit his nose... but before he knew what was going on...

Karim watched a pup get closer and soon stepped out of from behind a tree he'd been watching from. Lowering his head, he whispered, "Boo!" and watched as the startled pup tumbled backwards. Of course... poor Karim wasn't prepared for what came next...

Before Karim knew what was going on, the little pup was lunging at him! He didn't have time to move or bite back so he soon felt it... right on Karim's honker. It took a moment for the sensation to kick in but when that moment came, Karim rolled over and howled in pain. His nose, one of the more sensative bits of his body had been gnawed upon!

That wasn't all... the pup continued its attack... nipping at his sides, tugging on his tail. It seemed as if it was trying to physically hurt the big purple brute but it seemed to tickle more than anything. No longer worrying about his sniffer, Karim began to laugh whole heartily. He loved children... even when they were vicious little mofos.

"It might!" Adrieal said weakly, "You never know what those things are capable of..." But it was a loosing battle and he already knew it he was defeated. His brother was just a brute, plain and simple. If it had not been for their bloodlines the little pup would have probably left by now, or stuck to his mother constantly. His father, well his father scared him. Very much so. But his mother could only take so much of his constant worrying or fear, and thus he stayed with his brother, who seemed more able to take him on, despite the quips.

"You should really stop before----- oh my goodness!" he barked out once he saw the display. Instantly he ducked back and quivered in fear, putting both paws over his eyes as if to make himself invisoble.

"Karrim!" Lilith shouted, bursting forth from the shadows to pad up along side the large wolve and the small puppy. It wasn't the pup alone that unnerved her, it was the fact that there might be others around. Sent to lure a big wolf out of hiding so that he could be captured and killed or at worse, made to traitor his own tribe.

So once seeing Karrim was okay and merely at play she began to look around. But when she saw no others she instantly flatttened ears and tucked her tail between her legs. She was caught now.

He had him! He was down! This big flapping idiot that had tried to scare him! No wolf scared Driscoll, nothing scared him, period! He was determined to show his brother there was nothing to be afraid of when... another wolf popped out at him. Okay, so now he was outnumbered and... he had to plot quickly. As the wolf looked around Driscoll planned out his options... he could call Adrieal over and hope for a miracle or run or.... it didn't seem like he had many options. Two wolves 4 times the size of him weren't exactly going to fight fairly, Driscoll wasn't stupid. Okay so he'd go offer his brother as a sacrifice!

After a low growl, Driscoll took off towards his brother, hopping over the hiding figure before he tried to push him forward. "Get.... up...!" Driscoll growled as he pushed with the side of his head. Okay, so his brother was heavier than he thought... this sucked.

Karim blinked into reality as Lilith came out of nowhere and the pup backed off. Now that the tickling was over his nose began throbbing once again... kids... they never knew their own strength. But as far as he knew the kid was gone now, off doing something... why was Lilith here? He was torn between the two. Make sure the pup is alright or interrigate Lilith and find out her intentions. Lilith was confusing him though... why had she shouted his name and come running to his aid? Maybe she thought he couldn't take care of himself and she'd lose her precious co-ruler.

Or perhaps... no, that couldn't be it. Karim was starting to get full of himself, thinking Lilith thought of him as more than someone to rule beside. Something deep down ached, wishing for just that but Karim pushed it away, he couldn't deal with such feelings. They were surfacing again... no, this wouldn't work. With a quick glance to the pup, he realized there was another one... but it didn't look too good maybe it was de-... no it was shaking.

Leaving the pup for the moment, Karim turned towards Lilith, "Something the matter, miss?"

At the voice Adrieal whimpered, not even realizing it had belonged to his brother in the first place. "Y...Y...yes sir," he stammered, getting up while shaking, and still having his eyes closed. He just stood there, staring into the back of his eyelids and shaking like a leaf.

"I just thought...you...I," oh and this was a first. Never had Lilith had trouble getting out all her words, and here she was unable to forumlate a complete sentence. Her emeralds finally dipped down to the ground, to the pups, and then back towards Karrim. She cleared her throat once. "I just assumed you needed some help. I heard something and I got......" she inhaled sharply and muttered, "worried."

Cocking his head to the side, Driscoll viewed the two larger wolves, unsure of what to make of them. All he could see was they were uninterested in either him or his brother. So sacrificing wasn't going to work... and Mum would probably kill him anyways. Adrieal was a bit of a nuisance but he was still blood, family was supposed to stick together, right? Driscoll didn't like the idea of having to run from these potential threats but what other options did he have? Not many. Growling softly, he stopped behind his brother's wiggling rear and chomped down on his quivering tail.

Planting his feet firmly in the soil beneath him, Driscoll tugged his brother in an attempt to hide them both in the brush. "Adrieal you idiot..." Driscoll whispered through clenched teeth, hoping the two larger canine didn't hear. Giving a good yank, Driscoll felt as if he might topple over but kept his teeth tightly gripped, no way he'd lose this battle.

Karim laughed whole heartedly, he loved when others worried about him, it was just so strange... He was a big boy, took care of himself all his life and yet others still seemed to worry at times. It was nice to have others worry but wait... what, Lilith was worried..? Peering through interested eyes, Karim looked up at Lilith and slowly got to his feet. She didn't strike him as a worry wart, in fact she sort of struck him as the opposite... worry and care free. That's what he liked about her.

Drawing in a breath, Karim slowly let it out, he was lost for words as well. Flicking two ears forward, he made an attempt at speech, "Huuh.... why're you worried, Lil?" He wondered where the nickname came from and then slowly shook his head clear of clouded thoughts, "I mean... I don't mind... I uh.. it's sweet... Ma'am... er..." He sighed, he'd lost all sanity and all thought trains after he'd raised his head to stare into her beautiful emerald eyes.

Adrieal yowled loud and long when he felt his brother's maw clamp down on his own tail. He wanted to run and hide and......wait, wait. That's exactly what his brother wanted him to do! He could escape as intended! So he ignored the small hint of pain that now made his tail throb and followed his seemingly brave brother into the underbrush.

"I am not an idiot!" he said quickly as he cowered. "I'm just scared is all!"

Both brows raised as Karim uttered the strange name, or rather was it a pet name? That thought alone made her hackles bristle, but instead of anger, as it normally would be, another new feeling swept over her. A feeling not unlike all the others that came over her whenever she was around the other alpha.

"sweet?" she murmured.

Her tongue lolled a bit out of her mouth as she suddenly was taken into her own daydream. And in it were things she never thought she'd want from another wolf. Sweet whispered words, gentle carasses....but just as quickly as it came she shook her head. "Well, it's nothing now...it's just two puppies."

"Pfft, what's to be scared of? They're only ten times our size," Driscoll groaned and rolled his eyes, settling himself down behind the brush as he finally let go of his brother's tail. It was strange for him to sit and watch, normally he was right in on the action. Perhaps it was a part of growing up, his mother always seemed to remind him that someday he'd grow bigger but was a change in his ways in order as well? Pfft no, he'd get those wolves... he just had to wait for the right timing..

He hadn't even realized he was crouching by now, nearly crawling through the brush to pounce on his 'prey'. Shaking his head he trudged back to the spot beside his brother and sighed, groaning, "This is so dull..."

Karim gave a wolfy grin, soon after he'd drawn his eyes away from Lilith's own. She'd murmured something about his sweet comment but he chose not to probe at it incase it caused more problems or rather speech complications. The throbbing pain in his nose hadn't yet ceased so he decided to challenge her pup comment. Smiling slowly, Karim moved closer to Lilith, soon whispering, "Y'know... them pups are a force to be reckoned with... I say we rile them up a bit.."

"Teeeeeeeeen times?!" Adrieal whined, his little body going into a torrent of shakes once more. He simply could not take all of this stress. He'd rather gouge out his own eyes to be sitting here scared when....wait, no, no! He wouldn't want to do that either. Well, he'd rather be at home then here, yes that was it.

When he felt his tail being let go of he wrapped it tight around his little body and whined again. "It's not dull, it's terrifying!"

Lilith instinctively leaned foward to him and without wanting to, she inhaled his scent deeply, finding the smell maddening. When she realized what she was doing she instead swivelled an ear to his maw and listened before a small chuckle rocked her chest.

"Oh.." she murmured, "well lead the way then," she encourage, and that in itself was a feat.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2007 12:54 pm

Karim blinked at the wolf behind him, had Lilith just told him to lead? That was rare... even if he did rule her pack with her she had never told him to 'lead' the way. Shaking away thoughts that flooded his head, he gave a big wolfy grin and turned to face Lilith. He'd never really realized how sleak her coat was, how attentive her eyes were and well... just how beautiful she really was. A strange urge washed over him, one to move closer to her, to run his maw over her fur... to protect her from harm. He'd never really felt this way about another wolf... he assumed it was the heat playing mind games with him but he'd really never know. Normally, Karim had a lot of self control and he was very peaceful, rarely not minding his own business. Which was why... it was so strange...

When he stepped towards her, multicolored eyes twinkling, showing he was a little embarrassed by his own actions. When he felt he was close enough, he laid his head on Lilith's shoulder, inhaling her scent. She smelled like she always did... strong, femine, lovely, just plain lovely. Making a grunting sound, Karim's ears pinned back on his head and he stepped back, lowering his gaze to his paws.

"I uh... thought I saw a wasp... on you... it's er.. gone.." he grumbled, his voice trembling.

Ew, mushy stuff. That was the only thing Driscoll could think as he wiggled out of the bushes, staring at Adrieal's trembling body. His brother was such a wimp, but you had to laugh at him. Watching a little wolf with his paws over his eyes, butt wiggling in the air with chattering teeth had to give you some amusement. Sadly, Driscoll wasn't in the mood for games. He'd had fun thinking about taking on an alpha wolf but it didn't seem all that smart anymore. Well, looking at him now he figured he'd probably be able to take him down, mainly because he was sucking up to the other wolf that had appeared out of nowhere. Yeah, his parents did enough of that, he didn't need any more of it. He had other ideas to plot, other plans to make... brothers to take care of.

Sighing and shaking his furry head, Driscoll pawed at Adrieal's rear, making sure to keep low in their brush cover. He didn't really want to be seen especially since he had to get home, Mother would worry.

"C'mon Adrieal... we gotta get home, and I'm sure you don't want to stay here and perhaps get... maybe eaten?" he whispered, smirking to himself.

She was in heaven. At first it was the way she was being looked at. Adoration, complete and utter and she had never known the act before. It made her feel a mulititude of emotions, each one more clenching then the next. When he made to move forward she felt her body twisting and her toes squeazing around the soft dirt below. Her heart was ticking, she felt nervous which was ALARMING considering the elder wolf had always felt fully in control.

But now she had been swept off her paws.

She inhaled, deeply and then he moved his maw at her shoulder. She felt Karrim's snout and then..

Her world crashed down at his words.

"Oh.......oh yes of course." She said, her own voice wavering. "Good you got it off then isn't it?"

He let out a sharp squeak.

Eaten!

No, oh no Adrieal most certainly didn't want that. "Ohhhhhhhhhhh ohhhhhh ," he murmured, a cross between a howl and the sound a wounded animal gives off just before it dies.

Finally he remembered he was supposed to be shutting up and he slowly nodded. "Okay....maybe we should....get away....through the grass?" he asked stupidly.

"Yeah... I got it..." the big purple wolf replied, his voice breathy. He'd stepped back quickly to clear his head but he wasn't so sure it'd been cleared after all. His mind was skipping rapidly from one thing to another... How beautiful Lilith's coat was, how warm and intense her eyes were, how soft her words could be when she was alone... Not that he disliked her loud booming voice as it bellowed commands to their pack, in fact he loved watching her give orders. Karim would have never guessed he'd fall for such a strict and independant woman, well actually he figured he'd be alone all his life.

Wait, where was he going with this? Add some truth to the situation and he was indeed very alone. He just ruled a pack with some femme he was starting to develop feelings for. Great, just great... but hadn't she told him she did want heirs? His heart fell, spending a night with Lilith alone doing well... their thing, it'd be an amazing experience to say the least but... if she just wanted everything over and done with quickly. He grumbled to himself, why was he such a hopeless romantic? Lilith was too busy to be bothered with his kid-like feelings, he just knew it.

"I uhm..." the big male looked around, noticing the pups, whoever they had been had dissapeared out of sight.

"Looks like those little ones found their own way home," Karim chuckled softly to himself, "Shall we go home as well?"

"Stop making so much noise you nuisance!" Driscoll growled as he wandered away from the scene. Of course going home wasn't much more fun but he didn't need two see two wolves well... y'know...

"We're gonna miss supper if you don't hurry up! ..and stop snapping twigs! You're about as silent as a hippo running through the forest!" he continued to grumble.

"Yes," she said again feeling red hot heat cross and settle in her chest.

She looked down and over at the pups who were still trying to look inconpiscious and wished they would just leave already. She wanted to be alone with Karrim. Wait....why? A more wanton thought cross her mind and suddenly she felt flustered and light headed.

Now was not the time to be thinking about things like THAT. Instead she bristled and raised herself up a little more, trying to be fully in control of the situation.

Only she wasn't.

For once in Lilith's life she wasn't sure what to say. So she was thankful that Karrim decided to break the silence. Home, oh that was a novel thought.

"Home it is," she said dipping her head down before turning and heading back the way she came. Unsure of whether or not she liked how the day had progressed, especially with her newfound feelings towards him. If she really looked within herself then that was no hard answer.

She did.

"Sorry!" he yipped before he realize he was probably making even more noise by his sorry. So he settled for an even smaller muffed 'sorry' before he slinked down and followed his brother, flattening ears and listening to the insults being thrown at him as he slinked away.
